Ace of Spades ✓ COMPLETE

What the shit?

I stopped in my tracks as Kaz pulled Ace into a kiss. And then, I just stood there, unsure of what to do.

Ace pulled back almost immediately. He took a step back and didn't turn toward me; he just stared at Kaz. Everyone was silent for a few seconds; everyone had seen it.

Kaz had just kissed my boyfriend.

And oh boy, did that make me angry. It didn't matter that he was a guy, I would have felt just as angry if a girl had done it. I stormed over to them and stepped in between them.

"Hey! He's taken Kaz!" I tried to make my voice sound mean, I really did. But I ended up sounding like I had been smoking a pack of cigarettes everyday for 40 years.

Ace set his hands on my shoulders and leaned toward me. "Baby, can I talk to Kaz alone?"

"The last time you did that, he kissed you right in front of me so..."

Kaz had a bright red blush on his cheeks and he looked like he wanted to be anywhere but that living room. I narrowed my eyes at him, daring him to try something on Ace again.

I sighed and pointed to Kaz. "Try kissing my boyfriend one more time, you'll regret it." I kissed Ace's cheek, claiming him, and then walked over to Ryder, who stood by Lilli in the back.

"What the hell just happened?" Lilli asked me with wide eyes.

I didn't answer her but I turned and looked at Ryder. "You knew, didn't you?"

He looked a bit guilty but nodded. "Of course I did. He's my best friend."

"But Ace is your best friend too. Why didn't he know?" I asked.

"Kaz has been very confused for the past few years. He didn't understand why he felt the way he did about guys in general. And then he was even more confused when he started feeling those things for Ace. Would you want to tell your best friend you're in love with them?"

I gasped. "KAZ IS IN LOVE WITH ACE?"

Lilli choked on whatever she was drinking and started laughing. "What the heck is happening right now?"

Ryder winced a little at how loud I had been. "Calm down little one."

"Call me little one again Ryder, I dare you. I am not in the mood. Kaz just kissed my boyfriend right in front of me and everyone. He didn't even have the decency to do it in private!" I exclaimed.

Ryder turned me around by my shoulders and led me to the kitchen and Lilli followed closely behind. "Listen Mel, Kaz is most likely drunk as hell. He's going to regret what he said and did in the morning."

"That doesn't give him an excuse to kiss Ace. He knew I was right there; he looked right at me," I frowned.

He nodded. "Yeah, Kaz can be a douche, I'll admit that. But try not to be a douche right back Mel. He kissed Ace right in front of you, yes. But he also just kissed his best friend who he knows is in love with you. And the kid isn't even out yet. That's gotta suck."

"I barely feel any sympathy for him right now Ryder. I have always been so nice to him and he treats me like crap. I'm not going to feel bad for him because he's acting like a dick."

Lilli stepped toward me and placed a hand on my arm. "Girly, you should be a little gentle in this situation."

For real? How many times do I have to say it? The guy kissed my boyfriend.

But I couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt. Maybe I should think about how Kaz has been feeling. And that thought alone had me floored.

"I'm ready to go home," I told them both and promptly walked out of the room. I walked back into the living room and asked some people where Ace and Kaz were.

"Patio," a group of girls told me.

I followed to where they were pointing and went out the sliding glass door. I found them talking in hushed voices by the pool and I made my way over.

"Ace, I'm going home. See ya there," I told him emotionlessly and flipped back around.

I felt a tug on my wrist. "Whoa whoa whoa. Wait. Let me take you."

"No need. You seem pretty busy," I eyed the dark eyed boy across from me. Ace said nothing so I pulled my wrist from his grip and kept walking.

"Mel, okay, stop. Just give me a minute. I'll be right inside," he tried to hold my cheek but I turned away.

I rolled my eyes. "I'm not waiting for you Ace. I really don't want to be here anymore."

"Princess, he told you it would only be a minute," Kaz finally said.

I stopped in my tracks and turned around. I walked right up to him and poked a finger into his hard chest. "You listen here asshole, I've been so fucking nice to you since I met you. Even when you were a jerk to me, I was still kind. Don't fucking patronize me Kaz. I'm done being the nice girl to you." I turned to Ace. "Hate to be a bitch, but I'm leaving. I don't care if you follow me or not."

I heard a sigh behind me as I walked back to the door. "Kaz, I'll text you tomorrow. You can come over and we'll talk, okay?"

"You're just gonna follow her like a love sick puppy?" He questioned back.

Ace groaned and I could hear the stress in his voice. "Dude, she's my girlfriend. Just- I'll talk to you tomorrow. I'm sorry."

I closed the sliding door behind me and kept walking until I was halfway down the block. I should have known, but Ace's car pulled up next to me.

He rolled down the window. "Get in the car Mel."

"Nah, I'm good."

He honked, scaring me to the point of almost tripping on my face. I gave in, opening the passenger side.

"Sorry it took so long, I had to let Ryder and Lilli know we were leaving," he told me like nothing was wrong.

I ignored him.

"So you're going to be like that tonight huh?" Ace practically spoke to himself. "Mel, I didn't ask him to do that. Why are you mad at me?"

"I'm not."

He chuckled. "Yeah, okay."

We were silent until we got to his house. And when we pulled in, I pushed my way out of the car and walked into the house and up to my room. Deciding to be petty and dramatic, I slammed the door for effect.

But then I remembered how late it was and I felt bad.

Ace didn't take very long to open the door and storm into my room. "You're acting like a child."

"Okay," I told him and crossed my arms, sitting on the bed.

Okay, so I could admit he was right. I was acting a little immature. But to be fair, I had just started my period; I was emotional.

Ace sighed and sat next to me on the bed. He stared at me for a few seconds, waiting for me to give him any sort of reaction. When I didn't, he lifted his hand and pushed back a strand of hair, tucking it behind my ear. I leaned into his touch slightly, needing it more than I thought.

"I'm sorry about tonight. It definitely didn't go as I had planned," he whispered, inching closer to my throat.

I didn't say anything; but when his lips brushed my neck, I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. "I'm sorry for being a brat. I'm just pissed off that someone else kissed you."

"I get that Mel. You might not think I do, but I get it. Just the thought of some other guy, or even girl kissing you makes me go crazy."

He said all of this with his lips brushing my skin and soon after, he pressed his lips on my fluttering pulse, making me sigh.

"Ace-" I started to say, but lost all thoughts when he moved his kisses down the length of my throat. I tipped my head back in anticipation, wanting more.

"I love you Melrose King. You know that right?" His breath hot on my skin.

My voice was shaky when I answered, "I think you've mentioned it a few times."

He kept on kissing my neck until he landed at my collarbone. He inched the material of my shirt aside to get better access.

"I love you too," I whispered when his breath hit the hollow of my neck.

Weirdly, I giggled when he bit down lightly on a certain spot, making him pull away. "Ticklish, are we?"

I paused, biting my lip. "Ace-"

He nipped me again, and I giggled, pulling away. But then he grasped my cheeks and pulled me into his lips. His lips framed my own and his hands moved to rest on top of my thighs. I ran my fingers through his hair and tugged, a growl-like sound emanated from the back of his throat.

The sound reverberated onto my lips and I let myself fall back onto the bed. Ace quickly hovered over me, our legs now intertwined. I felt his fingers at the hem of my shirt.
