CHAPTER 138
CEO
The receptionist had seen her for several days in a row, and she was quite persistent. The receptionist said, âLet me make a call, please wait.â
As long as there was hope, Linda held onto anticipation. âSure, thank you.â
After the call was made, the receptionist politely replied to Linda, âMiss, Mr. York is not in the office. Please come back another time.â
It seemed too coincidental that he was always absent whenever she visited. This time, Linda wasnât as compliant. She persistently asked, âCould you call Mr. York? Just tell him Linda has prepared some special dishes and would like him to try them. Once he does, Iâll leave.â
The receptionist had encountered many women trying to curry favor with Nash, and she was just one of them. Wanting to brush her off, the receptionist said, âMr. York is very busy and doesnât see visitors.â âIâm not just anybody, Iâmâ¦â
Linda was so anxious she was almost in tears, but she couldnât bring herself to say who Nash was to her.
âMiss, please donât disrupt my work,â the receptionist reminded her.
Linda had been waiting for days, unable to relax at the villa. So, she insisted, âThen Iâll go find him myself.â
âIâm sorry, Miss, but that wonât be possible this time.â
The last time, Linda had used Ninaâs name to gain entry. However, her deliberate attempt to disturb Mr. York this time was simply not acceptable.
The receptionist signaled for some men to stop Linda.
Linda tightly held onto the thermos box in her hands, determined not to let anyone damage it before Nash had a chance to taste her cooking.
âLet her go.â
Nina came down and saw several men surrounding Linda, so she intervened.
âNina,â the receptionist called out, âsheâs here to see him again.â
When Linda looked up and saw Nina, it was as if she had found a savior. She called out, âNina.â
She quickly ran over to Ninaâs side. âThey wouldnât let me in, so I wanted to bring some food for Mr. York, but they wouldnât allow it. Iâm glad youâre here.â Seeing Lindaâs relatively close relationship with Nina, the receptionist remained silent.
Nina learned that Linda had been causing trouble downstairs and only came down because of that. Looking at Linda, she said, âMr. York is indeed not in the office.â Lindaâs face stiffened. âThen itâs been a long time since Iâve seen you. Neither you nor Mr. York come to see me. I feel lonely by myself.â
âYou can have someone accompany you for shopping.â
Linda said, âI donât have any friends here, except for that nightclub. I have nowhere else to go. Nina, please take me upstairs. Iâve made extra, you can have some too.â
She raised the intact thermos box in front of Nina.
âIâve already eaten,â Nina responded somewhat coldly. âThe people upstairs are all working. It wouldnât be appropriate for you to go up.â
Linda didnât want to give up this opportunity and said obediently, âI wonât make a sound. Iâll just wait quietly in the lounge. When he comes back, you can just let me know.â
Nina remained silent, but Linda was
determined today, adamant about seeing Nash. Ninaâs responsibilities didnât allow her to let Linda interfere with others. Firmly, she declined, âYou go back and wait.â Content
Ninaâs attitude was very firm, causing Lindaâs complexion to pale slightly. She clenched her fists, nibbled her lip, wanting to speak but hesitating.
Glancing at her watch, Nina realized it was time to head upstairs. Seeing her about to leave, Linda couldnât care about much else and shouted, âNina, youâve never wanted me to meet Mr. York, right?â
Nina stopped in her tracks.
Seeing her pause, Linda felt even more convinced that she was right. âYou see me as a rival.â
She understood that speaking such
words might hurt Nina, but she felt she had no other option. âNina, even though I come from a small town understand the importance of
competition. Iâve never into of fait
cause problems between you and Mr. York. But it seems you have your own agenda, stopping me from seeing Mr. York. Thatâs not fair.â
