CHAPTER 162
CEO
Nina waited anxiously outside the operating room, concerned about Nashâs well-being. The nail had deeply embedded itself and required surgery for removal. Her main worry was whether any organs had beer injured.
Julia arrived and asked, âHowâs Nash?â with a worried expression.
âHeâs still in surgery,â Nina replied.
âThis Lily is causing trouble, hurting my son-in-law!â Julia exclaimed.
Zion remained silent, waiting patiently by the side.
Finally, the doctor emerged from the operating room.
âHow is he, doctor?â Julia asked, filled with concern.
âThe nail has been successfully removed. Donât worry, no vital organs were harmed. Heâll be discharged after a few days of rest,â the doctor reassured.
Everyone let out a collective sigh of relief.
Ninaâs anxiety started to subside as well.
After what happened, Nina couldnât shake off the guilt she felt for Nashâs injury. He was still unconscious and had been moved to a regular ward.
Nina sat outside, lost in her thoughts. Nash had selflessly put himself in harmâs way to protect her. Sometimes he showed such kindness, but at other times, he could be distant and cold.
Seeing Ninaâs worry, Julia tried to offer some comfort. âNina, Nash is going to be all right. Donât be too hard on yourself.â
Nina looked up at her parents and pleaded, âMom, Dad, youâve already been through so much. Please go back home. Iâll stay here.â
Zion couldnât find peace of mind knowing that Nash had put himself at risk to save Nina. He suggested, âNash still hasnât regained consciousness. Letâs wait for him together.â
Nina didnât have much else to say.
Twenty minutes later, Sally hurried over, her voice filled with anxiety. âHow is Nash? How is my son?â
She rushed through the corridors until she reached Nashâs ward. Her face darkened as she saw Nash lying unconscious.
Noticing her urgency, Julia spoke up. âNash is still asleep, but his condition is not serious. The doctor saidâ¦â
Without warning, Sally angrily slapped Nina across the face. Nina was taken aback, her shock evident as she looked up at Sally.
âNina, itâs you again!â Sally disregarded their explanations and directed her anger towards Nina. âYouâre a disaster. My son only encountered danger because of you. When will you stop causing trouble for my son?â
Equally shocked, Julia defensively
pulled Nina behind her. âHey Sally, why are you hitting your
daughter-in-law so recklessly? Nash saved my daughter, thereâs nothing wrong with that. Iâm grateful. But this was an accident. Nobody could have predicted it!â
Sally looked at Julia with disdain, showing no warmth. âWho said sheâs my daughter-in-law? I never acknowledged that. Iâm hoping Nash divorces her!â
âDivorce?â Julia was astonished.
She and Sally hadnât interacted much. Their marriage had been somewhat hasty, with them getting married without informing Sally and her husband, simply obtaining a marriage certificate.
They only met Nashâs grandfather
briefly. Nash grandfather was easy
to get along with, and they
respected him. Sally had little contact with them. Without saying anything, they could feel that Sally wasnât easy to get along with, so they saw no need to confront her.
Until now, Julia still didnât know that their marriage was built on top of two million. She just felt that Nina had found a good match who could provide for her, and this allowed her to repay the debt of two million. Zion had a lot on his mind. Even though no one had said it outright, he couldnât help but feel that Nina wasnât happy about marrying Nash. Nina had always been responsible and considerate, always prioritizing her family.
Julia questioned Sally, saying, âSally, why canât you have some positive hopes? Nash is your son. Instead of wishing for his divorce, shouldnât you be hoping for his happiness? What kind of mother does that?â
