CHAPTER 17
CEO
Chapter 17
The man stood with his hands in his pockets, his gentle gaze fixed on Nina for a while before he said, âIâm Scott Lucas. Nina, we were in the same class in elementary and middle school.â
Ninaâs mind wandered for a while. In her memory, Scott was completely different. He used to be a chubby kid, always sitting quietly at the back of the class every semester, hardly noticed by anyone. She didnât have much interaction with him. With her consistently excellent academic performance, she served as the class monitor, and at most only exchanged a few words with him during homework assignments.
She never expected such a
transformation; he had become so good-looking. âScott?â Ninaâs lips curled
slightly. âYouâve changed so much. I almost didnât recognize you.â
âYeah, Iâve changed a lot. Itâs normal that
you didnât recognize me,â Scottâs deep eyes stared at her. âMany classmates donât recognize me anymore, but I recognize you.â
Nina was happy to see her old classmate. After starting work, she rarely attended class reunions due to her busy schedule. Her life was monotonous, revolving around work and family. Apart from work -related acquaintances, Yvonne was her only friend.
Thinking this way, her life seemed quite dull, with most of it devoted to Nash.
âAfter middle school, where did you go? I donât think Iâve heard any news about you,â Nina chatted with him.
âI studied abroad,â Scott replied. âI just returned recently.â
âI see,â Nina looked at his soaked suit. Take your clothes off. Iâll wash them for you.â
âItâs really not necessary.â
Nina insisted, âItâs been ages since we
last saw each other, and I feel bad about giving you such a âgrand gift. Let me wash it, and Iâll return it to you later.â
With her insistence, Scott didnât refuse anymore. âAlright.â
He took off his suit jacket and handed it to Nina. Fortunately, his shirt
underneath wasnât wet, so he didnât look too disheveled.
Nina took a gift bag and packed it directly.
âMr. Lucas,â someone suddenly greeted, warmly asking, âLong time no see. Youâre back in the country? Why didnât you notify us? We didnât even have a chance to visit you.â
âJust wait for me, Iâll say hello to someone,â Scott said to Nina.
Nina nodded. Seeing that the person was also a well-known entrepreneur and was so enthusiastic towards Scott, it seemed that Scott had quite a background.
She quietly checked and found out that indeed he was quite impressive. He
graduated from Victoria University in the Estaland with a degree in finance and obtained a dual Ph.D. at a young age. He started from scratch in college and founded a financial company in the highly competitive Estaland. Step by step, he became the Scott of today.
However, her focus had been too narrow, still fixating on the chubby kid from middle school. He was no longer that chubby kid; he was now a big shot.
While Nina was lost in thought, Yvonne bumped her shoulder and smirked, âDo you know Scott?â
âAn old classmate,â Nina replied.
âYouâre pretty good. Scott recognizing you as an old classmate,â Yvonne grinned even wider. âDo you know how
impressive he is? Heâs the CEO of a listed company at such a young age. He started from scratch, and heâs in finance. People in finance are good at making money, much better than Nash. I think you two are meant to be.â
Nina warned her, âWeâre just classmates. Donât make up stories. He doesnât have any intentions towards me.â
âHow can there be no intentions? Iâm sure there are,â Yvonne asserted confidently. âRecognizing you at a glance means heâs thought about you a million times in his head.â âDonât talk nonsense.â
