CHAPTER 171
CEO
âThank you,â Quincy said politely, glancing at Nash. He felt relieved as he noticed Nashâs softened expression.
Originally, Nina had planned to have dinner with her parents, but now it seemed unlikely.
Nina approached her mother, Julia, who was making her bed, and said, âMom, I need to go out for a while. I wonât be able to join you and Dad for dinner.â
Julia looked up. âIs something wrong?â
âItâs work-related,â Nina replied.
Julia came closer to Nina. âNina, if you want to change jobs, we can do that. There are plenty of good jobs out there.â
Julia was also concerned about Ninaâs well-being. If she and Nash divorced, it would be awkward for Nina to stay with him.
âI understand, Mom,â Nina acknowledged.
Nina had also been pondering on the same topic. If she and Nash divorced, she couldnât stay with him.
It was time to let go.
Leaving her home, Nina returned to the York residence.
There, the helper still respectfully addressed her as âMadam.â
Everything seemed normal, as if nothing had happened.
Nina took off her shoes and asked the helper, âCouldnât find the sweater?â
The helper looked puzzled. âWhat sweater?â
Nina looked up. âDidnât Nash ask you to find a sweater?â
The helper replied, âMr. York hasnât called back.â
Nina fell silent. Nash hadnât called back, yet he insisted she come home. Was he intentionally picking a fight?
âMs. Walker,â said Linda confidently, catching Ninaâs attention as she sat at the dining table while the helpers prepared soup.
Nina was taken aback. Linda, who used to be timid in the corner, now wore designer clothes and looked healthy. She seemed more like the lady of the house than the timid girl Nina had first met.
Had Sally agreed to this arrangement, or had Nash also consented?
Setting down the soup, Linda approached Nina with a friendly smile. âCalling you Ms. Walker sounds too formal. How about I call you Nina? It sounds nicer.â
Meeting Lindaâs gaze, Nina asked, âWhat do you want to say?â
Linda smiled back at Nina. âNothing much. I just wanted to let you know that I donât need to live in that deserted villa anymore. I can live here directly. This will be my home from now on.â
She said it with a hint of pride, perhaps envisioning herself as the future lady of the house.
Since Nina and Nash were getting divorced, Linda wanted to make it clear to Nina that she would take good care of Nash in her place.
Nina pondered Mirandaâs presence and wondered how Sally could let others intrude when she liked Miranda so much. She also worried that Linda might end up being manipulated. As Nina headed upstairs, she casually said, âWell, good luck to you.â
Linda followed behind her. Nina.
looked back, feeling puzzled. Linda playfully commented, âSince youâre here, I have to keep an eye out. If anything goes missing while Sally is away, I might get blamed.â
âIâm just getting a sweater for Nash,â Nina replied.
Lindaâs face lit up. âWhy didnât you say so earlier? You donât have to bother, Nina. I can take it to Nash myself.â
Observing Linda eagerly entering the room, Nina noticed the master bedroom and the large bed. Linda was already lost in fantasies about lying on that bed with Nash.
âNina, this is your room and Nashâs. Itâs spacious and cozy, much better than the villa,â Linda remarked, almost instinctively reaching out to touch the bed.
