CHAPTER 186
CEO
âI have money, please donât hurt me!â Ninaâs body was soaked in sweat, feeling completely drenched. She immediately opened her mouth to speak, recognizing that her first priority was to save her own life. Her eyes met Xanderâs, and she took in the chaotic room she was in, her hands bound. Seeing the man standing before her, her face turned pale. âUncle.â
Xander stared at her coldly. âNow youâre finally willing to call me uncle?â
Nina hadnât expected him to be so heartless as to kidnap her, regardless of their family ties. She didnât anticipate him showing any mercy now, but she still asked, âWhat do I need to do for you to release me?â âYou mentioned having money,â Xander said, holding the card that Nash had given her.
âIs there money on this card?â
âYes, there is money.â
A glimmer of a smile appeared on Xanderâs face, as greed sparkled in his eyes. âHow much?â
Nina inquired, âIf I give it to you, will you let me go?â
Before he could respond, another voice interrupted, âNo!â
There were other people present.
Ninaâs gaze shifted in the direction of the voice, but she couldnât see anyone. The person remained hidden in the shadows, unwilling to reveal herself.
âYou canât let her go. If you do, youâll end up in prison!â the voice insisted.
Nina strained to recognize the voice, but it sounded unfamiliar. The deliberate attempt to disguise it suggested that it might be someone she knew.
âXander, there is another guest here,â Nina said, trying to distract Xander.
Xander replied coldly, âThatâs because youâre not cooperating. If you did, we wouldnât be in this mess.â
âWhatâs the password?â he asked again.
Nina glanced at the card in his hand. âHow can I be sure that if I tell you, Iâll survive?
âYour friend seems to want my life.â
The intense reaction from the unseen person revealed how she had exploited Xanderâs greed to abduct her. One wanted money, the other wanted her life. Money could be earned, but she was more concerned about her own safety.
âItâs impossible,â Xander urgently demanded. âIâll release you as soon as you tell me the password. Quick, tell me the password.â
Nina hesitated. âThen untie my hands and feet,â she requested.
Xanderâs expression changed drastically. âYou planning to run?â
Nina explained, âWith you all watching and me being bound like this, how could I possibly escape? But I need assurance that if you take the money, I can get away.â
In the end, Nina was still a woman, and Xander wasnât afraid of her running away, just warning her, âYou better not play tricks.â
He proceeded to untie Nina.
Marks from the bindings were visible on her wrists. After stretching her limbs, she stood up, her gaze fixed on the woman.
âNow you can tell me,â Xander declared.
Looking at Xander, Nina asked, âXander, you just said if I tell you the password, youâll let me go and you wonât take my life, right?â
âI just want the money. If I didnât have these difficulties, I wouldnât treat you like this,â Xander explained.
With a third person present, nothing was certain.
âI donât trust her!â Nina interjected.
âBoth you and Lily are easily influenced Do you realize that everything youâre doing now is leading you down a destructive path? Youâre being manipulated and used as pawns.â
âDonât listen to her nonsense. Iâm doing this for your own benefit!â the woman insisted once again.
âWho are you? Why do you care about doing good for them? In the end, Lily will be detained and her reputation ruined, while Xander will end up in prison for kidnapping. Is that what you consider good?â
Nina addressed Xander. âXander,
you need to think clearly. She wants
my life and you want money. I can give you the money, but you canât allow yourself to be someone elseâs pawn, doing things that harm me!â
