CHAPTER 202
CEO
Why did Sue set her sights on Nash? Sue emerged with her elbow scraped and tears streaming down her face. Fearful of being mocked by Nina, she hurried away. Nina watched her silhouette and furrowed her brows once more. Then, she turned to Nash.
His expression had not softened as he coldly stared at her. âYour cousin was trying to seduce me, didnât you see?â
Nina calmly replied, âI saw.â Her response darkened Nashâs face further.
âNo reaction?â he asked.
Nina didnât understand, âWhat reaction do you need?â
Nashâs face grew even colder. He observed that Nina never reacted when any woman tried to seduce him. She didnât get angry or upset, not even shedding a tear. But this annoyed him greatly. She never felt jealous.
After a moment, Nina added, âI was surprised to see Sue act like that, but now I understand. She never liked me and wanted to retaliate. Iâm sorry for the trouble sheâs caused you.â
âIs that all?â Nash stared at her.
âYes,â she replied.
Nashâs gaze turned icy, his voice low as he asked, âNina, is it that no matter how many women are around me, it wouldnât bother you? You could just act like itâs nothing.â
Nina walked in and replied, âWhy would that be? Didnât I intervene when other women approached you before? As for Sue, you rejected her, so thereâs no need for me to intervene.â Nash remarked, âIsnât that your duty?â
âItâs indeed part of the job,â Nina responded. âIncluding now.â
Nash pursed his lips, thinking she had changed her mind, but it turned out she was just doing her job as usual.
Hmph.
Where was her commitment to being his wife?
Nina glanced at Nash and noticed his unfavorable expression, figuring he was not in a good mood. She asked again, âDo you want some tea to sober up?â She gestured towards the cup on the table. âThereâs one already here. Would you like to drink that one or mine?â
Nash looked at the cup she held, realizing it was the tea she had brewed for him. His expression softened a bit. âBring it over,â he
said. Nina hurriedly brought it to net
him, Nash drank the tea she had brewed in one gulp. Feeling drowsy after drinking it, he lay down on the bed and dozed off for a while.
Taking advantage of his sleep, Nina went out again. She went to Lilyâs residence. By now, Sue had returned and was crying even louder, burying her face in her arms on the table. âWhatâs wrong, Sue? Whatâs going on?â Lily saw her in such a sorry state. Sue just cried and didnât speak.
If only she had succeeded in seducing Nash, it would have been alright. But now, she failed miserably. It was embarrassing to even speak of it. However, Lilyâs mother saw through it and spoke first, âCanât you see? She failed.â
Lily looked at her mother, then at Sue, not understanding what was happening. Seeing Sueâs appearance and thinking it over carefully, her expression turned ugly. âSue, did you do something shameful? Who told you to do this?â
Sue choked out, âItâs because Grandma said Iâm useless, not as good as Nina. I wanted to prove myself to you!â
âI never said that! Youâre misunderstanding me!â Lilyâs mother denied.
Lilyâs expression soured as she
addressed her mother. âMom, do
you even see yourself as my mother anymore? Youâre constantly
criticizing my marriage, belittling my daughter, and comparing us
unfavorably to others. Is it really that terrible? My daughter is still young, with a promising future ahead. Sheâll marry into a good family someday. You donât seem to have any regard for us!â
