CHAPTER 205
CEO
Linda didnât dodge; she just tilted her head and looked back at Nina. âWhy are you so angry, Nina? Assaulting someone is against the law!â Nina sternly retorted, âThe things youâve done could land you in jail!â
Unfazed, Linda smiled and replied, âWhat things? Nina, donât falsely accuse me. I havenât done anything wrong; Iâm just here on a trip.â
âNina, what are you doing!â Suddenly, Sally approached from nearby, her face not looking too pleased at seeing Nina hitting someone. She rebuked, âYouâre getting too hot-tempered, even hitting Linda. Sheâs carrying the seed of our York family in her belly. Can you afford to pay if you damage it?â
Nina glanced over as Sally came to support her. Taking advantage of this, Lindaâs eyes gleamed with a victorious smile. âSally, itâs nothing. She canât conceive, so sheâs envious of others. Thatâs why she gets angry seeing me.â
Sally sharply remarked, âShe canât lay eggs, yet she expects others not to bear offspring. Sheâs been spoiled!â
Nina furrowed her brows tightly, staring at Linda, who was banking on the fact that she didnât have enough evidence. This was precisely the outcome Linda wanted to see. Nina had no way to deal with Linda, which surely frustrated her. With everyone dead, all evidence would be destroyed. How could Linda let Xander live?
Xander couldnât lay his hands on Nina, and if he returned to expose Lindaâs involvement in the kidnapping, sheâd end up in prison. She didnât want that. She needed a scapegoat. Xander was the perfect scapegoat. With him dead, no one would know about the things she did.
âWhat are you doing standing here?â Sally supported Linda. âIf I catch you bullying Linda again, donât blame me for being rude to you. If you harm my grandson, Iâll fight you!â Linda chimed in, âNina, I told you I came here with Sally for a vacation to relax. They said the air here is good for me and the baby.â She stroked her belly, flaunting it in front of Nina.
She knew Nina had come here to attend the funeral. So, she took the initiative to say she wanted to relax for the babyâs sake. Luckily, Sally had nothing to do, so she came along. It was just a coincidence. Nina stared at her belly. It hadnât protruded yet; the time was too short. She glanced at Sally, who was now happy, thinking she could hold her grandson. She looked forward to it every day.
Nina had done her part for them, and she didnât want to show any mercy. She said coldly, âHasnât a paternity test been conducted yet? We donât even know if itâs from the York family. Isnât it too early to say?â
Hearing this, Lindaâs face stiffened,
feeling a bit flustered. She
immediately retorted, âNina, what are you talking about? You can hit and curse me, but how can you defame my child? Arenât you afraid of karma?â
Sally also paused for a moment, but due to her arrogance, she still angrily said, âNina, youâre just jealous! Linda, donât listen to her nonsense. Your health is more important than anything. Donât let anger affect your pregnancy.â
Nina no longer bothered with their blind confidence. She looked sharply at Linda. When you make mistakes, you have to pay the price. If not now, then later. Beware that karma might fall on your child. Donât think you can escape punishment!â
Only both of them understood the weight of her words, and they were quite severe.
