How could he say such words?
Stricken by his statement, Miranda stopped crying and stared blankly at Nash, utterly astonished. This was not the person she knew.
Previously, he had cherished her the most, never allowing her to suffer any grievances. But now he was different, showing no pity, not even knowing how to comfort her anymore.
She couldnât believe this was Nash. There must be a reason behind his actions.
Miranda let go of his hand, trying to force a smile.
but failing miserably. âBe even? How could you

Nash replied, âBy curing your ears.â
âI donât want that! I might as well be dead!â Miranda became more agitated, grabbing a nearby fruit knife, intending to cut her wrists.
Seeing this, her assistant quickly intervened, holding her back. âPlease donât do this, Mirandaâ¦â
Miranda, with red eyes, exclaimed, âNash,

Nash, observing Mirandaâs hysterics, clenched his fists slightly and said coldly, âGive her a sedative injection!â
Following Nashâs instructions, the doctor
administered the injection, despite Mirandaâs resistance, requiring several nurses to restrain her. Her gaze remained fixed on Nash, filled with love and unwillingness. She kept repeating, âNash, you wouldnât be so heartless to me. You promised to protect me forever⦠Your word is your bondâ¦â
Then, Miranda lay quietly on the bed, her hands. limp, only her eyes moving.

Meanwhile, Nina wandered aimlessly, pondering over Mirandaâs question. If it werenât for her, would Miranda have been able to marry him smoothly?
Deep down, she already had the answer. But it still made her feel sad.
Her phone chimed, and Nina glanced at it to see it was a call from Nash, perhaps checking if she had returned home.
Waiting for him at home was her duty as Mrs. York. Feeling a bit tired, she didnât feel like conforming to expectations and doing things just to please

Nash. She let the call go unanswered several times, and eventually, he stopped calling.
Finally, it was her mother who called. Due to work and family obligations, she hadnât been in touch with her family for a long time.
âNina,â Julia Davis called, sounding cheerful and affectionate, âAre you busy right now? Am I disturbing you at work?â
Hearing her motherâs voice, Ninaâs eyes welled up with tears. No matter how difficult things were outside, only her parents could provide her with the greatest shelter.
Suppressing the urge to cry, she replied, âMom, Iâm not busy. Today is the weekend, and Iâm + working.â
Julia warmly responded, âThatâs good. Iâll jus with you for a bit. Your dad told me not to call you, but I miss you. Itâs been a while since you came home, and both your dad and I miss you a lot.â Nina held the phone tightly. âI miss you too, I really miss you.â
Julia suggested, âNina, how about coming home for a meal?â âOkay,â Nina agreed.
A visit home would be nice, to feel the warmth of her parents.
She realized she had missed out on spending a lot of time with them.
