Chapter 55
Nash embraced Nina tightly, wishing he could envelop her completely to protect her from all harm. Resting his chin on her head, he responded to her deep with remorse, âIâm here, Nina, youâre safe now, youâre safe!!
Nina buried herself in his chest, her body still trembling uncontrollably. She choked out, âWhy did you only just come? I almost, I almost⦠thought I wouldnât see you again!â
Nash held Nina, her lips drained of color, and
clenched his fists tightly, anger evident in his eyes. However, he patiently comforted Nina, wanting to provide her with enough security to ease her recent pain. âIâm sorry Iâm late. Donât be afraid, Iâll never leave you alone again!â
He was worried about Nina, so he came over, but he was still late!
Nina broke down in tears, expressing her anxiety, fear, and resentment towards She clenched her fists and lifted them, pounding them onto his chest. âYouâll abandon me, just like you always have. In the past, and now too.â
She couldnât remember how many times she had been abandoned. She couldnât recall. Each time was just as heartbreaking. Nash held Nina tightly, his suit covering her body securely. âIt wonât happen again. Trust me this time, Nina, I wonât ever leave you again.â
Nina cried silently, but her fists didnât strike him again. She couldnât contain her fear, trembling in Nashâs arms, wishing she could envelop herself in a hard shell. Nash patiently comforted Nina, repeatedly stroking her forehead.
Once her emotions calmed down and she stopped trembling, Nash bent down, gently placing Nina on the sofa to be looked after.
He rolled up his sleeves, his gaze sharp as he looked at Mr. Lincoln lying on the ground, appearing half-conscious. A basin of water was poured over Mr. Lincolnâs face.
He woke up from his drunken haze, looking around at the mess on the floor, recalling what had just
happened. When he turned to seet
Nashâs cold expression, with eyes that could kill, he suddenly felt fear creeping in.
He softened his tone, âMr. York, I didnât mean it. I was just drunk. Please donât take it seriously!â
âYou didnât mean it? Do you think a simple apology is enough?â Nashâs face remained expressionless; his voice icy as his shoe pressed down on Mr. Lincolnâs fingers. âAnyone who crosses me will meet their end!â
âAhh!â Mr. Lincoln screamed again, clutching his nearly crushed fingers. He continued, âMr. York, after all, Iâm your business partner. You canât treat me like this. If I refuse to cooperate with you anymore, youâll face huge losses. Is it worth it for a woman?â
eln
Nash sneered, seizing Mr. Lincoln in his clueless. state, âMr. Lincoln, despite your age, youâre still so naive. Just so you know, I have the power to replace you in your position whenever I please!â
With that, Mr. Lincoln felt a surge of fear. Nashâs words implied that while he might no longer hold his position anymore, their cooperation would continue, and there would be no loss despite offending him.
âItâs impossible, Mr. York. You donât
have that much power. If you dare to
touch me, youâll pay for it⦠Ah.. Mr. Lincoln was kicked in the stomach, crying out in agony, blood staining the ground.
Seeing this, the others were terrified, their legs shaking. They sobered up quickly, their voices trembling as they spoke, âMr. York, we didnât do anything. Itâs not our fault, itâs all him!â They wanted to distance themselves, avoiding the same fate as Mr. Lincoln.
Nashâs hands were stained with blood, and he appeared different from his usual composed and aloof self, resembling a demon returned from hell.
Without even glancing at them, he wiped the blood off his hands with a towel until they were spotless, then picked up Nina from the sofa and walked out.
