Chapter 335

The Imposter Bride (Natalia and Magnus)

Hector was struck with disbelief, his words stumbling over each other in shock. "Natalia, Magnus is coming? What on earth for? Is he planning on dragging you back with him?"

"No." Natalia shook her head gently. "It's probably just a coincidence. The company I work for is looking to get Andersen Corporation to invest, and now they're coming over. They say their CEO wants to meet with the template designer. It's not like they're specifically seeking me out, right?"

Despite her words, Natalia was not completely convinced. She could only seek solace in the thought that all of this was nothing more than a string of coincidences.

"What's there to be afraid of? Let him come." Hector puffed out his chest. "Natalia, I'm not the naive kid I used to be. I can protect you now and won't let anyone bully you again. Not even Magnus!"

Natalia gave a soft smile. "Hector, you've misunderstood. I didn't explain well. Magnus was never cruel to me, I left him for other reasons."

"Whatever the reasons, Natalia, you left him. If he wants to grovel and beg for you back, it won't be easy," Hector said, his gaze intense as he looked at Natalia. "Natalia, why can't you give me a chance? I can make you happy too!"

Natalia sighed, a little helpless. "Hector, didn't we agree to be the closest of friends?"

Fearful of upsetting Natalia, Hector quickly changed the subject. "Alright, Natalia. What do you plan on doing now? Are you going to see Magnus?"

"I... I don't know." As Natalia was speaking, the honking of a car horn resounded outside.

She turned her head and saw William pulling up in his car. "William, what brings you here?"

William hopped out of the car and gave Natalia an enthusiastic hug. "Oh, my beautiful lead designer, your phone was on silent, so I decided to come get you myself. We should get going, we're running out of time."

It was then that Natalia realized her phone had fallen onto the floor. Her face flushed slightly. "I'm really sorry, I accidentally dropped my phone."

Hector bent down, picked up Natalia's phone, and handed it to her. He then turned to William. "Hello, I'm Natalia's friend. She's feeling a bit under the weather today, so she won't be able to accompany you to the airport."

Natalia's eyes widened in surprise. She hadn't expected Hector to make decisions for her like this.

Assuming that Hector was Natalia's boyfriend, William gave a good-natured laugh. "Oh, so our lead designer is feeling unwell. My apologies. But the CEO of Andersen Corporation specifically requested to meet the designer of these drafts, so..."

Sensing William's discomfort, Natalia hesitated. "What if... I go with you?"

"Natalia, no!" Hector immediately intervened. "You can't go. I remember you telling me that you only draft designs for the company and don't handle social engagements. Since they've agreed to that, they can't force you to go now!"

Hector then turned to William. "Right?"

"Well... umm..." William was at a loss for words. These were the conditions that had been previously agreed upon. Asking Natalia to accompany him to the airport at a moment's notice felt like an imposition.

After a moment's thought, Natalia decided she couldn't risk seeing Magnus. She knew that if he saw her, he would do everything in his power to get her back.

She looked at William and said, "William, aren't these designs currently under the supervision of Miss Diana? Just say that she's the designer of these drafts. I can continue to draft for you without having to step out for social engagements. It's a win-win."

William was taken aback. It was rare to find a designer who was willing to let someone else take credit for their work. "But, Natalia, this way, others might take credit for your work. And we'll probably be collaborating with Andersen Corporation in the future. Your identity is bound to be revealed sooner or later." William felt he needed to clarify the situation for Natalia.

Natalia laughed it off. "So what? It's just a title. I get paid for my work, I get to draw in peace, and I don't have to deal with others. It's perfect. As for my identity being revealed, I don't think that will happen!"

Although he didn't completely understand her perspective, William respected Natalia's decision.

"Alright then. If you insist, I'll have my sister Diana go to the airport to meet the CEO of Andersen Corporation."

With that, William drove off. The CEO's private jet was due to land soon, and he needed to be at the airport before then to show his commitment. He was determined to make their collaboration with Andersen Corporation a success.

Watching as William's car disappeared around the corner, a sigh of relief washed over Natalia. Deep down, she knew she wanted to see Magnus again. Despite seeing his life unfold online, she hadn't seen him in person for a long time. Truth be told, she missed him dearly.

But she couldn't risk seeing Magnus. She was afraid that her vow would come true. Even if there was a slight chance, she wouldn't risk Jonas’ life, her precious son. Never!

Hector studied Natalia's thoughtful expression, a knot of unease forming in his stomach. He could see in her eyes, a longing for Magnus.

"Natalia, I'm sorry. Was I being selfish?" Hector said, guilt creeping into his voice.

Natalia shook her head with a smile. "No, Hector, you did well. I honestly didn't know how to turn down William's request. I'm glad you stepped in, thank you."

Seeing Natalia's forced smile - a smile that barely reached her eyes, Hector felt a pang of heartache.

Suddenly, he felt an uncharacteristic surge of anger. Six years ago, Magnus had taken Natalia away from him, and he had watched in silent agony as she grew thinner and quieter each day, until her tragic demise at sea.

Now, six years later, just when he thought he had another chance to reunite with Natalia, Magnus had appeared again. Was he supposed to remain silent this time, too?
