The doctor glanced from Chase Hudson to Pricillia Black and back again and sighed. These two seemed to be at enmity with each other.
âThe mother is free from harmâs way but we couldnât save the baby. We lost himâ the doctor said and Chase Hudson tears ran down his cheeks.
âCan I see her now?â Pricillia Black asked, ignoring Chase Hudsonâs shocked expression.
âNo, youâll have to wait a little longerâ The doctor declared and walked away.
Chase Hudson walked backwards until he sank into a seat. His tears ran down his cheeks. He was still and for a while, he didnât move a finger.
âMy baby, my little baby..â Chase mumbled and sniffled. His eyes had gone reddened and he was sobbing now.
âMy childâ¦Iâm sorryâ Chase kept sobbing. For a while Pricillia Black momentarily forgot herself and glared at Chase Hudson.
He is sobbing over a baby he claimed he is not interested in? He said horrible words to her and invariably to her daughter because of the baby in Rosalindaâs belly.
He is now sobbing over spilled milk? This is ridiculous. How can he do that? Is he pretending to be hurt? Is he putting up an act?
She sat opposite Chase and watched him. She saw him bring out his phone and called a certain person âI lost my.. ba.. by Ariannaâ he said and sniffled, swallowing hard to ease his airway.
Pricillia Black was hurt as well. But she seemed to forget her own misery of losing a supposed first grandchild and glare at Chase.
His complexion had gone reddened as well as his eyes. He sniffled and took a tissue, cleaning his sore nose.
He glanced at Pricillia Black and looked away. He felt so guilty that he didnât want to stare at her again. He had not only hurt Rosalinda, he did the same to her mother.
Pricillia Black noticed stains of blood on Chase. Was he there when the whole thing started, was he with Rosalinda?
Soon, the theatre was opened and Rosalinda was wheeled out of it in a stretcher. She looked pale but sleeping.
Chase Hudson sprang up and went to her, holding her hand as she was wheeled into the ward. Pricillia Black wanted to tell him to go to hell but felt pity for him.
She didnât know he was pretending all along. So, he really was happy about the pregnancy? He really looked forward to carrying the child?
âWhat now, was she given a sedative?â Chase asked, turning and glancing at her again.
âYes, sheâll be awake in a few hours. And weâll just place her on observation. Once we see that sheâs stable, weâll discharge herâ the doctor explained.
âThank you doctorâ Chase Hudson appreciated. He glanced at Rosalinda and knew he owed her an apology big time.
Heâd hurt her too much. Once she opens her eyes, he would plead with her to forgive him. He really needs to apologise to her.
Chase went closer and wanted to touch her, to caress her hair affectionately when Pricillia Black roared âDonât touch my daughterâ
She walked over and stood before Chase, grabbing the suspended hand and flinging it off. âBecause I allowed you to touch her hand a while ago doesnât mean I have forgotten about your attitude.
I only allowed it because you are also grieving the loss of your unborn child. I allowed it because your consolation might come as you held the childâs motherâs hand.
But donât push your luck too far. You have played your part so far and now, I will like to say you have overstayed your welcome. So get your promiscuous feet out of my sightâ Pricillia Black ordered, glaring at Chase furiously.
Arianna shivered when Chase told her that he had lost his baby. He was in the hospital with her. She needed to go at once.
She shut down her laptop and took her bag. She needs to inform her fiance about it. She knocked and went into Jaceâs office.
He raised his head and glared at her with a poker face. He is being professional and didnât show any slight expression that he was staring at his woman.
âDarling..â Arianna said and was going to continue when Jace interrupted her âCEO Jace Hudson. Keep professionalism in mind when you walk through that doorâ he corrected.
Arianna nodded and said âIâm sorry sir. Forgive my mannersâ she declared and sighed. The other day when she wanted to act professional, he changed it for her and said he is the boss.
âWhat do you want?â Jace asked. Caping his pen and glaring at her expressionlessly.
âChase called me, he was sobbing. He lost his babyâ Arianna said and her eyes went teary.
âSo, what do you want me to do about it?â Jace asked flippantly. What the heck is his business with that? If he lost his baby, good for him.
âHeâs in the hospital with her,â Arianna added, not answering Jaceâs question.
âDo I ask you where he is? Why are you feeding me with news that doesnât interest me?â Jace snapped at her.
âHe needs us. We should run along to meet him. He needs us by his sideâ Arianna urged. She knew what Chase did to him hurt him. The memory of it must definitely still be fresh in his brain.
âWe should run along to meet him? We? Were you trying to say you and I should run along to meet Chase in the hospital because he lost a baby he never wanted from its conception?â Jace demanded, now glaring at her intently.
âYes. It doesnât matter if he wanted the baby or not. Youâre also a father, you should take pity on him, put your differences aside and stand by his side reassuring himâ Arianna coaxed.
âIâm not going anywhere. And this would be the last time you bring Chaseâs matter before me like thisâ Jace warned.
âIf you arenât going to go, then Iâll go aloneâ Arianna declared and turned around to go when Jace thundered âIf you dare take a step out of this company before the closing time, youâll have me to contend withâ
