Chapter 40: A common goal
One Night With The Billionaire
âLetâs keep a proper relationship with each other, if not for anyoneâs sake, for Ariannaâs sake pleaseâ Chase declared, his gaze fixed on Richard. He was obviously referring to him.
âI donât keep relationships with toxic people. Everyone get the hell out, I want my patient to restâ Richard insisted.
âI donât want you to be Ariannaâs doctor anymore. You get out and I will have another doctor take over from youâ Jace replied, his gaze becoming cold as he stares at Richard.
âI dare you, Jace Hudson and I will get Arianna out of this hospital and you wonât get access to her anymoreâ Richard retorted.
âItâs enough please, everyone. Why are you both quarrelling about it? Is it because of Arianna or thereâs another underlying reason you are not telling us?
Arianna is special to everyone in our different ways. Sheâs my bestie and childhood friend. Sheâs your friend for a few years Richard and you are the one who stood by her when Eli was born.
But sheâs Jaceâs woman as well, sheâs Eliâs mother and they both shared a unique relationship with each other more than anyone else.
And what can I say about Chase, he is Eliâs uncle. Heâs become Ariannaâs close relative. Why are the disagreements, why canât we just do whatever we can to help Arianna get better?
And we all have a common goal: seeing Arianna get better again and become who she used to be. Isnât that it? Letâs work towards it like a team to make that goal and achieve our desiresâ¦âGenesis sermonise.
There was silence and next Jace went towards the door âEnsure Arianna is fine and safe, Richard Delmarkâ and walked away. He was going home, he needed to settle a business that night.
Chase also walked away. When they were alone, Genesis snapped at Richard âYou shouldnât have let your temper control your emotions. Jace Hudson has done nothing this time.
What happened was not his fault. You need to see how he sobbed when we heard that Arianna is dead. He probably regretted why he treated her unfairly in the past.
Please, letâs live in the present and put the past behind us, for Ariaâs sakeâ Genesis implored and glared at Richard.
âOkayâ he said.
Jace Hudson couldnât get past the journalists. The hospital was surrounded by them and each held a microphone, ready to have Jace interrogated.
His bodyguards surrounded him and created a path for him in the middle. And despite that, several cameras were flashing, his pictures were taken and every step he took was being videoed.
âCEO Jace, why would anyone want to assassinate you?â
âWhat is the identity of the woman who saved your life? Do you share a unique relationship with her?
âWe would want you to tell us if the woman is dead already, she possibly wouldnât be able to survive the gunshotsâ
âIs it true that the shooter is a professional at the job? He is a born killerâ
Several questions were asked but Jace wouldnât answer any. He walked calmly with his head raised and his shoulders high.
He got to his car and the bodyguards made way for him to get into the car. His chauffeur was ready and soon he stepped on the throttle and zoomed off, scaring the journalists who act as barricades.
Jace arrived at his mansion and his bodyguard held the door for him to step out. The miscreant has been knocked out before being taken to the basement.
âSir, he is chained and kept safe. But he is unconsciousâ Eduardo gave a report. He was supposed to be with Jace Hudson wherever he is but the latter had instructed him to stay away.
âHave you interrogated him?â Jace asked, feeling uncomfortable in his blood stained shirt. He needed to get a bath and relieve himself.
âExcept that he is not the real enemy. He is the enemyâs emissaryâ Eduardo announced. Jace nodded and was going to walk past Eduardo when the latter asked.
âHow is Miss Jason now?â He was worried sick about the poor woman. At one time, he thought she had come to stay at the Hudsonâs holding but her stay didnât last.
And now, she saved the CEO. Sheâs a heroine and should be applauded. He hoped the CEO would forever remain grateful to her. Sheâs the reason why the boss is still breathing and unharmed.
âSheâs out of harmâs way but in comaâ Jace Hudson gave an update. Everyone knows the part Arianna played in saving his life. He owes her his life.
âCEO Jace, forgive me but Miss Jason saved your life. I hope she gets rewarded for the risk she tookâ Eduardo stuttered.
Jace paused and nodded. âYeah, I owe her my life. And itâs comforting to know that sheâs Eliâs mother after allâ Jace declared.
Eduardo was dazed. âMiss Jason is Eliâs mother?â He asked. But Jace didnât answer his question as he strode into the house.
