As expected, Lin Yi nodded and sat back down on the sofa. âIâll listen.â
Huaijun didnât waste any time and got right to the point. âGrandpa Guan- Iâve brought Song along today mainly to ask for information with your connections.â
âNo need for the courtesies, Yang, just tell me what you need.â Xuemin waved his hand- he understood that Huaijun had to have something important if he was coming to him like that.
âThank you, professor.â Lingshan quickly said.
âSo, Grandpa Guan, thereâs a criminal organization trafficking organs, directly taking the beggars, homeless, and the disabled for their kidneys and corneas. The audacity with which they operate has gotten out of hand- itâs absurd.â Huaijun said. âI wanted to ask if you could help check the sources that the bigger hospitals use for these organs, and what those sources are. Hopefully thereâll be some clues in there!â
âThatâs not difficult, but I can only ask around. For those whoâve went through their surgeries already I wonât be able to ask them to cut it back out even if itâs from an illegal source.â Xuemin said.
âNaturally- that wouldnât be very ethical. But theyâve been involved in criminal activity, so punishment is still due.â Huaijun said. âThank you again for the help, Grandpa Guan.â
âIâll give Xiaoxiang a call- heâs the shareholder of the most hospitals. His network is more spread out than mine.â Xuemin nodded.
Xiaoxiang was Guan Xueminâs younger son, Guan Xiaoxiang. He was Guan Xinâs father, and held many shares of different hospitals, owning a private hospital with Guan Xinâs mother in Songjiang as well. A proper celebrity of the medical world.
âHaha, with Uncle Xiang and Aunt Lanâs help Iâm sure something will turn up.â Huaijun nodded. Aunt Lan was naturally Guan Xinâs mother, Xiaoxiangâs wife.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Huaijun had brought Lingshan along to ask Xuemin for help, and now that Xuemin had unhesitantly agreed to help, they were done here. Xuemin evidently had Lin Yi over for something else, too, so there was no need to stay. Huaijun stood up to say his goodbyes. âGrandpa Guan, weâll be going then. Itâs a little busy recently at the station- Weâll visit some other day!â
âAlright, drop by for dinner sometime.â Xuemin nodded.
âWait!â Lin Yi stopped Huaijun. âYour second stage medicine- itâs ready, but I didnât bring it. Can you come to my school for it tomorrow?â
âAlright, but Iâm involved with a huge case in a neighboring city, might be pretty busy with that. Iâll have Song go for me if I donât have the time.â Huaijun nodded. âI know you donât want me to be saying thanks all the time- you get it anyway.â
âYeah, go work. Youâre not gonna die from that.â Lin Yi shrugged. âDidnât see you so busy before I cured you.â
âHeh, the more capable you are the bigger things you do, right? Iâm almost cured anyway, arenât I?â Huaijun said, a little embarrassed. âAlso, Iâm creating a chance for you and Song, right?â
âWha??!â Lin Yiâs eyes were wide open, as were Lingshanâs.
Lin Yi was speechless- why was this Huaijun always thinking about getting him with Lingshan? What Lingshan was shocked about, on the other hand, was how Big Bro Yang acted around Lin Yi- this playfulness wasnât like him at all!
Hmph! It had to be that Lin Yi, heâd corrupted Huaijun! It had to be the case! She had to make Lin Yi pay one day when she made her comeback, but that day was still a distance away⦠She wouldnât be able to do anything now, and it seemed sheâd have to work rather hard.
After walking Huaijun and Lingshan to the door, Lin Yi went back to Xueminâs study. The old man was only finishing his phone call when Lin Yi stepped in. âI called Mister Lai- heâll be here soon.â
âMister Lai? Fatty Lai, right?â Lin Yi blinked before making the connection.
âHaha, thatâs him.â Xuemin, naturally, couldnât really call Lai Changyi Fatty Lai.
The two were only a couple of sentences into their conversation when they heard people talking outside the room- what followed was a human ball tumbling into the study. Fatty Lai had been here before, so Aunt Liu let him in directly after recognizing him.
But Fatty Lai had heard Xuemin mention that Lin Yi was here- in his panic to meet Lin Yi he got too excited and tripped on in front of the door, literally rolling into the room. He hadnât seen Lin Yi since the birthday feast, after all.
Lin Yi was taken aback from the rolling. âIs that martial arts or something? Even if you wanted to come in quicker you didnât need to do this, right?â
âHeh heh⦠Was just a mistake, sorry. Tripped myselfâ¦â Fatty Lai said a little embarrassedly âMiracle Doctor Lin, I finally get to meet you again! I missed you! W..Waah⦠I thought you didnât want me anymore, I thought I would never see you again! You donât know how excited I was when Professor Guan called me! I havenât been this excited since my son got married!!â
âAlright⦠Just⦠Put some distance between us, Iâm a little worried. I donât doubt your sexual orientation, but I have my guard up.â Lin Yi said after moving away from Fatty Lai.
âItâs alright, as long as I can see you, Miracle Doctor Lin!â Fatty Lai didnât mind Lin Yi avoiding him one bit as he took out a document from his bag. âMiracle Doctor Lin, please give this a look! The rights to the building have all been put under Miss Guan Xinâs name, so the contract will be effective as soon as she signs!â
âOh? Your new companyâs in the building too, right? Whatâre you gonna do if you pass everything over?â Lin Yi said, confused.
âIâll become a renter⦠But donât worry, Iâll pay the rent on time every month!â Fatty Lai said. âYou wouldnât kick me out, would you, Miracle Doctor Linâ¦â
Lin Yi felt that this Fatty Lai was a bit noisy, but he had no reason to kick him out. The guy had given him his entire skyscraper- heâd be a real asshole if he kicked him out.
âNo, just stay. Forget about stuff like rent.â Lin Yi waved his hand.
âHeh heh, Iâll stay, then!â Fatty Lai had made his decision- he wanted to latch onto Lin Yi! After all, it was obvious that as long as he was close with Lin Yi, good things would keep popping up to his favor!
Lin Yi wasnât too close with him yet, and didnât seem like he wanted to be, but that was fine- as time went on theyâd start getting along. After all, their relationship had developed pretty well already- Lin Yi now was willing to meet him, at the very least!
âHowâs your father?â Lin Yi had taken somebodyâs skyscraper for free, and it didnât feel very right. He didnât like to take stuff for free, and while payments for his services were costly, those were deserved since heâd put in effort for them.
