Poisoning the Canteen
The cafeteria workers were so enthusiastic when they treated him. They must have not gotten the latest news regarding his uncle.
He dropped his concerns and raised his hand, "Iâve been eating outside recently. Please continue your job and Iâll head to the kitchen and have a look at the menu today like usual!"
"Alright, Master Zhong!" the worker nodded and continue on their work.
It wasnât the first time Pinliang entered the kitchen, so they didnât really care about it. Besides, the cafeteria wasnât open. The dishes werenât served yet so no matter he still had to enter the kitchen to pick the dishes he wanted.
Pinliang pushed open the kitchen door to see only one chef. He let out a breath of relief instantly! It was a rare occasion to see the kitchen to be this empty. Normally, it was filled with people, from helper to chef. However, it was different for today. They were almost done the food preparation so most of them went out of the kitchen to help get ready for the business.
To cut down the expenses, normally, a school cafeteria wouldnât hire as many workers as a normal restaurant, so most of the workers there were just part-timers.
Pinliang acted as if it were his own home when he walked into the kitchen and asked the only chef there, "Howâs the food going? Anything good today?"
The chef turned back to see Pinliang. He didnât like young masters like Pinliang very much but since he was working in their territory, even if he had skills, he couldnât just ignore him. He knew that Pinliang could just get him fired easily and find a replacement. His skills werenât very important here.
The chef replied, "Almost done. Left the last one stewed spare ribs with potatoes. The rest are prepared. Have a look at them yourself."
"Oh, then let me try the stewed spare ribs with potatoes first!" Pinliang walked towards the chef and looked into the pot, "Go get me a bowl, I can help you with the taste!"
"Okay, wait for me!" the chef had no choice but to obey Pinliang. He turned back and went out of the kitchen to another room. The utensils were stored in the disinfection room right beside the kitchen.
Pinliang waited until the chef gone, took out the bottle from his pocket, opened it, and started pouring the powder herb into the pot.
Meanwhile, Xiaofu started putting the powder into other dishes as well.
Since the disinfection of the utensils was still going on, the chef had to turn off the disinfection cabinet before he could retrieve the bowl. So, it took him quite some time before he returned to the kitchen. It was more than enough time for Pinliang and Xiaofu to complete their mission.
The school normally prepared six dishes with soup. It was just the right amount for the seven herbs. The poison would not work if one of the herbs was missing, so this was a success for their mission.
In fact, a student ordering a full set lunch, including the six dishes and soup, was few and far between. Unless that student was incredibly rich, no one would ever do that!
However, many students shared their food among their close friends. They couldnât afford to buy all the food by themselves so they separated the food in equal portions among their friends so everyone could enjoy the privilege of savoring a variety of food, and at the same time, they would be saving money. This was a pretty common culture in this school so there was a greater probability of students getting poisoned.
When the chef returned with the bowl in his hand, Pinliang was already standing in his previous position, next to the pot with stewed spare ribs with potatoes. Pinliang was displeased, "What took you so long?!"
"The bowl was in the disinfection cabinet. It takes some time to get them out!" the chef smiled wryly. "Master Zhong, please enjoy."
"Hmph, make it quick!" Pinliang nodded and pointed at the pot, "Get this rib. Then, I want this rib with extra fats!"
The chef hurriedly picked out the spareribs that Pinliang had his eyes set on.
Pinliang hungrily took down the spareribs. "Gosh, this is delicious. Get us two sets of stewed spareribs with potatoes and also the egg soup, get us two portions!"
"One dish and one soup?" the chef looked at Pinliang again for confirmation. After all, this was Pinlaingâs first time ordering so little, he normally ordered all of them or at least four dishes. It took the chef by surprise, he had never seen Pinliang ordering only so little!
"The other dishes suck. I donât like them! Faster, get me more meat!" Pinliang lost his patience.
"Okay, okay." the chef realized that his question was pretty dumb. Obviously, Pinliang didnât like the other dishes. Thatâs why he didnât order them! He hastily prepared two portions of stewed spareribs with potatoes and egg soup and placed them at the table outside. Meanwhile, Pinliang and Xiaofu took the two buns from the kitchen and went out of the kitchen.
"Liang bro, I thought that the food is poisonous. Are you sure we should be eating these?" Xiaofu was frightened. He refrained himself from touching the food and asked, "Are we going to die?"
Pinliang angered, "F***, I would have died if the food isnât safe to eat!"
"Oh, but what about the egg soup. Will we get poisoned if we have that?" Xiaofu was still worrying about the food.
"Idiot, do you think I would eat if the food was poisonous?!" Pinliang glared at Xiaofu, "Yaowang said that eating only two isnât poisonous. In fact, it will strengthen our kidney and improve overall health!"
"Oh, I see...." Xiaofu nodded, but he was still intimidated by the food, unable to touch them in the slightest.
"Eat! We are here to poison people. If we arenât eating anything before we leave, people will get suspicious of us, wonât they?" Pinliang said and started eating up.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Xiaofu didnât have a choice. He forced himself to wolf down the food. After a few bites, he found that the food wasnât half bad at all and his body wasnât reacting to anything bad, either! He let out a big breath of relief and gulped down the remaining soup....
After finishing their meal, Pinliang and Xiaofu took their leave swiftly. They were here to poison people, after all. They shouldnât be staying any longer.
"Boss, whatâs in your mind?" Xiaobo asked. After the morning class, Xiaobo turned his head to find a frowning Lin Yi, sulking.
This was the twelve graderâs last and most important semester. Their grades depended greatly on their effort now. Every second they spent was very crucial to their future, so Xiaobo wasnât wasting a second of it. Other than greeting Lin Yi in the morning, he had been burying his head in books.
"Nothing, letâs go grab something to eat?" Lin Yi was thinking of an excuse to get close to Jianwen to get information about Lingshan.
Although Lin Yi had agreed to help Huaijun, he still couldnât find a way to rescue Lingshan. Things would be completely different if he was still an assassin, but he couldnât just kill him off like how he used to, could he? Even if he could, he shouldnât involve Lingshan into the mess.
"Letâs go." Xiaobo nodded, "Did you call sis-in-law to join us?"
