In his spacious office, Kayden Black sat at his desk, his eyes fixed on the glowing screen in front of him. A bitter taste formed in his mouth as he read the headline that seemed to mock him from the
screen.
âBillionaire Tycoon, Richard Romero Marries Amber Grey, Exâwife to Kayden Black.â
A dark chuckle escaped his l*ps, mingling with the disbelief that clouded his thoughts. He had thought he had seen it all, but this news shook him to his core. He struggled to believe what he was
reading, and seeing with his own eyes, reading it over and over again to be sure that it was a
hallucination.
Martin, his best friend and personal assistant, watched him with a mix of concern and curiosity,
unable to decipher the storm of emotions playing across Kaydenâs face.
âKayden, man, you have to stop staring at that article like youâve lost your mind,â Martin finally
said, breaking the tense silence of the room.
Kayden tore his gaze away from the screen and looked up at Martin, a perplexed expression etched or
his face. âDoes any of this make sense to you?â he asked, his voice tinged with frustration. âAmber
remarries just three months after our divorce, and not just anyone, but my number one hater, Richard Romero? How did that even happen? How does this make any sense?â
Martin let out a sigh and leaned against Kaydenâs desk, studying him intently. âKayden, no offense, but in your own words, you said love and logic donât go together, and this was your justification for divorcing Amber and marrying her sister,â Martin replied. âJust like it made no sense when you married Marlene, Amberâs sister, just three months after divorcing her, Amberâs marriage to Richard
doesnât have to make sense to you.â
Kaydenâs brows furrowed in frustration as he searched for a response. Martinâs words struck a nerve, making him a lot more upset than heâd like to admit.
He scoffed and looked away, unable to accept the reality before him. âWhose side are you on, Martin?â
he asked.

Martin let out a soft chuckle, understanding the turmoil raging in his friend. âKayden, you know my loyalty lies with you, but sometimes, we need to set aside emotions and look at things logically,â he
said. âIn this situation, you have no right to be upset about anything Amber does with her life
anymore.â
Kayden let out a heavy sigh, his frustration palpable in the air. âItâs not just the fact that Amber
and Richard got married that bothers me, Martin,â he began. âItâs the fact that I had no idea about
it, that I was completely blindsided.â
Martin nodded sympathetically, understanding the sting of betrayal that Kayden felt. âI get it, man,â
he said. âItâs not easy to accept that your exâwife is now married to your number one enemy. It must feel like a gang up.â
Kaydenâs brow furrowed as he thought aloud, his voice laced with confusion. âAnd what baffles me

more is how they even met,â he mused. âDuring our entire marriage, I never once got the sense that
Amber knew who Richard was. They were complete strangers, this I am sure of.â
Martin nodded, mirroring Kaydenâs confusion. âThat does seem strange,â he agreed. âItâs as if their paths crossed only after your divorce. But why would Richard go to such lengths to marry Amber? There
has to be a motive.â
Kaydenâs eyes narrowed as he considered this possibility. âIâm certain that Richard is trying to
screw me over in some way,â he declared. âAnd marrying Amber seems like the perfect way to achieve.
that.â
Martin raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Kaydenâs theory. âBut Kayden, why would Richard believe marrying Amber is the most effective way to get to you?â he questioned.
Kayden leaned back in his chair, frustration etched on his face. âBecause thereâs no other logical explanation,â he replied with conviction. âRichard knows how I operate, how I value my reputation above all else. By marrying Amber, he gains some sort of leverage over me, something he can use to his advantage.â
Martinâs gaze shifted towards the window, lost in thought. After a moment, he turned back to Kayden with a furrowed brow. âKayden, you said Amber was clueless and naive during your marriage,â he begar slowly. âBut what if she knew more than you thought?â
Kayden scoffed, dismissing the idea without hesitation. âTrust me, Martin, Amber was way too oblivious to retain any substantial knowledge about my work,â he retorted, his voice filled with.

Martin wasnât convinced, his eyes searching Kaydenâs face for any sign of doubt. âAre you absolutely. sure about that?â he pressed. âBecause if Amber did have knowledge of your work, then marrying Richard might serve a purpose beyond just spite.â
Kaydenâs brow furrowed as he considered Martinâs words. Could it be possible that Amber had been more. perceptive than he had given her credit for? A flicker of doubt crossed his mind before he pushed it aside, confident in his assessment of his exâwife.
âNo. Martin,â he said firmly, shaking his head. âAmber was gullible, naive, and oblivious. Iâm

certain she knew nothing of my work. Richardâs motive has to be based on some other advantage he
believes he can gain.â
Kayden would pause to think, trying to figure out a possible reason for Richardâs decision to marry
Amber. His brows knitted together as a sudden realization washed over him, his eyes widening in
shock.
Martin, sensing the shift in the atmosphere, leaned forward in his chair, concern etched on his face. âKayden, whatâs going on?â he asked urgently. âWhy the sudden gasp?â
Kayden took a moment to gather his thoughts, his mind racing to connect the dots. Finally, he spoke,
his voice filled with disbelief.
