Chapter 51
Married To My Ex-Husband’s Rival by Jobet GraySon
Chapter Fifty One
Third Person POV.
Marleneâs impatience was evident as her feet tapped incessantly against the floor. She couldnât shake
off the annoyance that gnawed at her, fueled by the unsettling realization that her plan to cause
Amberâs downfall had failed.
Yesterday, she had expected to hear a shattered and defeated Amber on the other end of the phone
call, but instead, her halfâsisterâs voice exuded unwavering confidence, a confidence that annoyed
her. It was an infuriating blow to Marleneâs ego, and she was determined to rectify the situation.
Having invited her mother, Mary, to her place for a conversation, Marlene eagerly awaited her
arrival. She needed her motherâs guidance and advice, especially when it came to plotting Amberâs
ultimate demise and keeping her firmly in the shadows,
As her thoughts whirled with anger and resentment, the doorbell rang, pulling her attention away from her swirling emotions.
Marlene remained seated, her face etched with a storm of irritation. She knew it was her mother at
the door, and a servant promptly hurried to greet Mary and escort her into Marleneâs office.
As Mary entered the room, Marlene sprang to her feet and rushed towards her, embracing her in a tight
hug.
âMy darling daughter! How are you doing my dear?â Mary asked.
âMother, Iâm not doing well,â she admitted, her voice laced with a mixture of sadness and
frustration.
Concern etched into Maryâs face as she pulled away from the embrace, her eyes scanning Marleneâs
troubled expression. âWhatâs wrong, my dear?â
Marleneâs pout deepened, and she sighed dramatically. âMother, I simply canât believe that Amber managed to snag such a great man for herself. Itâs so infuriating! Now that sheâs married, sheâs starting to act up, and is walking around with this air of selfâassuredness, as if sheâs on top of the world,â Marlene huffed, her frustration seeping into her words.

âHas Amber ever insulted you directly?â Mary asked.

Marlene scoffed bitterly. âHer very existence is an insult to me, Mother,â she replied resentfully.
âBut what annoyed me the most was when she threatened to deal with me once I gave birth. Who does she
think she is?â
Maryâs eyes widened in disbelief, her l*ps parted in shock. She couldnât believe the audacity of her
other daughter. Shaking her head, she leaned forward, earnestly addressing Marleneâs frustrations.
âAmber must have grown wings by now,â Mary remarked. âIt seems like she has forgotten her place.â
A wicked smile curved Marleneâs l*ps as her motherâs words sank in. âYes, Mother,â she agreed
eagerly. âItâs about time someone brought Amber back down to earth. She canât go around thinking she can do as she pleases.â
Maryâs eyes twinkled with a sinister gleam as she contemplated her daughterâs request for help. âI have an idea,â she said slowly. âThe first thing weâll have to do is turn the public against her,
tarnish her image, and expose her âtrueâ intentions to them.â
Marleneâs eyebrows raised in anticipation. âHow do we do that, Mother? Tell me what to do,â she
urged, leaning forward with an eagerness that mirrored her motherâs.
Mary leaned back in her chair. âWe shall start by using the truth as a weapon,â she revealed, her
words carrying an air of calculated malevolence. âWe will paint Amber as a gold digger, someone who
marries wealthy men solely for their money.â
Marleneâs eyes widened with a mix of astonishment and delight. âAnd how do we do that? Whatâs the
plan?â she pressed.
Maryâs smile grew wider. âMy dear, find a despicable reporter who is willing to write an article
about Amberâs past marriage to Kayden and her new marriage to his enemy, Richard,â she advised.
Marleneâs eyes sparkled with excitement as she imagined the chaos their plan would unleash. âSo, what
do we want the article to say exactly?â she asked eagerly.
Mary leaned closer. âWe want the article to portray Amber as a woman who marries rich men to gain wealth and financial security,â she explained. âBy this time tomorrow, there should be news articles. circulating that label Amber as a gold digger, someone who is only after Richardâs money.â
âWe need to make sure that everyb*dy else sees her as a terrible person, and after that, weâre also Poing to point out the fact that she had married her exâhusbandâs rival. Sheâll become a woman who

not only marries for money but also a woman with a terrible motive. Just make sure you find a reporter as soon as possible so that we can proceed with step one,â Mary added.
She had always hated Amber with everything in her, and the fact that Amber thought she could have good life, and love a life where sheâd be better and live better than her daughter Marlene, made her fume with rage.
She has always promised herself to always make sure that Amber never becomes more successful than any of her children because there was no way sheâd let the child of a b*tch like Elena, thrive over her
own children.

Marlene nodded eagerly, her mind already racing with the possibilities of the havoc they were about
to wreak. She knew that her mother was the best person to call because her mother hated Amber just as
much as she did.
Amber had always been a thorn in their flesh, and Marlene was capable of doing anything to make sure
that Amber would never be happy.
âDonât worry about anything, Mother,â she agreed. âBy this time tomorrow, Amber will see that she
cannot escape the consequences of being born. Iâll make her pay for speaking to me like that.â
