Chapter 54
Married To My Ex-Husband’s Rival by Jobet GraySon
Chapter Fifty Four
Third Person POV.
âDidnât I tell you not to show up in my office, Marlene?â Alison questioned, the irritation in her
tóne evident as she watched Marlene walk into her space like she owned the place.
âAnd didnât I respond that you canât tell me what to do?â Marlene scoffed in response before taking a
seat opposite Alison.
The only reason she had come all the way here was because she wasnât satisfied with how Alison had
been ignoring her calls in the last few days. She wanted to come and remind Alison who her boss was
since her dear friend seemed to be getting out of line.
Alison rolled her eyes tiredly, deciding that she would just find out why Marlene was here instead of
getting into an argument with her.
âWhat is it
I want from me, Marlene? Iâm pretty sure you not here to see me as a therapist, and
if you are, Iâd appreciate it if you learned to make appointments first before showing up out of the
blue,â she said.
Marlene scoffed.
âYouâre unbelievable, Alison. Are you really trying to pretend like you donât know why Iâm here? Haver
t you been ignoring my calls for days because youâre afraid that Iâd call you out on your
incompetence?â she hissed.
Alison sighed. âWhat more do you want from me, Marlene? I already did everything you asked of me, so
why do you keep calling me like weâre close friends who need to speak to each other every day? I
already told you that Iâve done my best, so I donât get why youâve refused to leave me alone!â
âWhat do you mean youâve done your best, you idiot? If youâre so sure that you did exactly what you were paid for, then why is Amber still normal? Shouldnât she be crazy by now? Didnât I pay you to
drive her mad?â Marlene questioned.
âYou paid me to switch her medication, Marlene, and thatâs exactly what I did. Up until a few weeks ago, I was more than certain that she was still taking those drugs frequently, but now, I canât keep
tabs on her since the stupid b*tch decided she no longer needed friends and cut me off,â Alison fired

She had tried all she could to get back into Amberâs life, even going as far as calling her every day and leaving messages to seem like she cared about Amberâs wellâbeing, but no matter what she did, Amber never responded, and she no longer had direct access to her since she had gotten married.
âI canât believe you were actually stupid enough to get her to distrust you despite knowing that she needed to keep trusting you so she never finds out that youâve been messing with her medications.
Alison let out a frustrated sigh, her annoyance evident in her voice as she addressed Marlene. She
wasnât exactly surprised that Marlene was getting on her nerves, but she hated the fact that she was
being harassed like this.
âI didnât do anything to break Amberâs trust,â she insisted, her eyes filled with exasperation. âShe just suddenly lost her mind and started cutting everyone off, claiming she couldnât trust anyone. Itâs not my fault the girl is crazy.â
Marlene raised an eyebrow. She had been witness to the unraveling of Amberâs sanity, especially after her marriage to Kayden, but she couldnât bring herself to trust Alisonâs words entirely. âAre you
sure youâre not leaving something out?â Marlene countered, âAmber wouldnât just cut you off without
reason. You must have done something or said something to make her want to cut you off permanenth
Alisonâs frustration deepened, and she furiously scoffed at Marleneâs skepticism. âIâve done nothing
but be there for her like I was supposed to,â she retorted. âIâve tried everything I possibly can to
help her and show her that I can be trusted, just so she just stops being doubtful. But she refuses
to believe anyone. She thinks the entire world is after her, and I canât seem to control her
anymore.â
Marlene crossed her arms, her expression hardening. She wasnât convinced by Alisonâs words, sensing some hidden agenda lurking beneath her seemingly innocent facade. âSo, what now? What are you planning to do?â Marlene asked.
Alison let out a sigh, her annoyance morphing into resignation. âIâm not going to do anything.â she
admitted, her voice tinged with defeat. âIâve done my part by fulfilling my end of the bargain. I
switched out Amberâs antidepressants with a different medication, one that will slowly mess with her
mind. And Iâd love to make sure sheâs slowly driving herself mad, but until she decides to reach out
to me, thereâs nothing more I can do to confirm.â
Marleneâs eyes widened in shock at Alisonâs revelation. âAre you insane? You canât just stop talking
to her!â

Alison rolled her eyes, a flicker of annoyance crossing her face. âWhat other choice do I have?â she snapped. âIâve tried everything else, and Amber is still out of reach. I donât intend on going
overboard because I have no interest in trying to prove anything to that girl. You already know I canât stand her, and being around her is a lot of work.â
Marleneâs brows furrowed as she contemplated Alisonâs words. âFine,â Marlene relented reluctantly. âBut thereâs still one thing you need to do before youâre allowed to walk away from her.â
Alisonâs annoyance resurfaced, a scowl forming on her face. âWhat else could possibly be left to do? I already said Iâm taking my hands off her and minding my business, so what else do you want from.
me?â
Marlene took a deep breath; her eyes locked with Alisonâs. âWell, Alison dear, you need to find a way to get back into Amberâs life,â she stated. âYouâre the only one I know who can get close enough to her, and I need you to go back to being friends with her, even if you have to beg. If thereâs one
person who can slowly poison her, itâs you. Amber has to die, Alison and youâre going to help me get
rid of her.â
