Chapter 55
Married To My Ex-Husband’s Rival by Jobet GraySon
Chapter Fifty Five
Amberâs POV
Sitting at a secluded table in the corner of a small restaurant, I anxiously tapped my fingers
against the smooth surface, my gaze fixated on the entrance.
After my emotional conversation with Richard, I knew it was time to take control of things, and get
myself together. My number goal was to seek revenge on Kayden and Marlene, but I didnât want to
solely depend on Richard to come up with our next line of action.
Even though we were only married for two years, there was a lot I knew about Kayden and his family,
so I intended on doing things my way from now. And the first step to getting what I wanted was to
find my people, individuals who could serve as my loyal eyes and ears, reporting back every little
detail about their actions and plans.
I had reached out to Helena, the head servant in Kaydenâs home, earlier in the day and requested a
meeting. She was one of the servants there who I knew cared about me, and might still have some sort
of loyalty toward me since I had been nice to her while I was married to Kayden.
To my relief, she had been more than willing to see me. Now, as I waited for her arrival, my mind
raced with possibilities. I wondered how she was going to react to my request and I was also
anticipating what she might reveal to me, should she decide to help me.
Minutes stretched into eternity, but finally, Helenaâs figure appeared in the doorway. She hurried
over, a broad smile stretching across her face as she curtly bowed to me. âMiss Amber,â she greeted
warmly. âIâve missed you so much. Itâs been too long. How have you been?â
I rose from my seat, mirroring her smile, and embraced her tightly. âHelena, itâs good to see you,â I
replied, my voice genuine. âAnd Iâve missed you too.â
Finally settling into our respective chairs, Helenaâs smile faltered for a moment as she offered an
apology. âIâm really sorry, Miss Amber, for not reaching out to you after your divorce from Mr.
Black. I should have been there for you, Miss. I canât even imagine how difficult it must have been
for you.â
I dismissed her apology with a wave of my hand. âThereâs no need to apologize, Helena. I completely
understand the circumstances of the situation and why you couldnât reach out to me first.â

Relief flooded her expression as she leaned back in her chair. âIâm so glad youâre doing well. Itâs
been one crazy situation, but seeing you now brings me joy.â
I let out a sigh as I looked at Helena, feeling a lot more nervous than I thought I would be. Could I
really trust her? Was I barking up the right tree?
âIâm sure this must be surprising, seeing how I reached out to you so suddenly,â I began. âBut Iâm
glad I reached out to you first.
Helena smiled warmly, her surprise evident on her face. âYes, I must admit, I didnât expect to hear
from you,â she replied. âBut Iâm glad you did. How can I help you, Ms. Amber?â
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts as I prepared to make my request. I needed Helenaâs help.
but I also understood that she had every right to refuse. âWhat Iâm about to ask of you is not
something youâre obligated to accept, Helena,â I said. âI can assure you that I wonât feel any type
of way even if you refuse.â
Helenaâs expression softened, curiosity sparking in her eyes. âGo ahead, Ms. Amber,â she encouraged
gently. âTell me what you need. Iâm all ears.â
I mustered up my courage, realizing that Helena was the only person in that house that I could trust
in this situation. âSo the thing is, I want you to be my eyes and ears in that house, Helena,â I
revealed. âI want you to act as a spy for me, reporting everything about Marlene and Kayden back to
Confusion clouded Helenaâs features as she tried to make sense of my request. âYou want me toâ¦spy
on them?â
I nodded. âYes, exactly. I need you to gather information for me, to keep me informed of anything
suspicious or concerning. I can also assure you that youâll be compensated very well for your help.â
I clarified.
Helena paused, her face thoughtful as she contemplated my plea. She had always been loyal to me, and
I knew she understood the risks involved in accepting my request.
Suddenly, a smile spread across her face. âMs. Amber, even if you hadnât offered to pay me, I would
still help you,â she declared. âYou were kind to me during your time as Mr. Blackâs wife, and I feel
indebted to you. I will gladly repay your kindness.â

Warmth flooded my heart at Helenaâs words. âThank you, Helena,â I said softly. âYour loyalty means more to me than I can express. I promise you wonât regret it.â
Helena smiled, determination gleaming in her eyes. âThereâs no need to thank me, Ms. Amber,â she replied resolutely. âI would love nothing more than to keep an eye on that evil boss of mind and his
absolutely rude wife.â
As Helena referred to Marlene as ârude,â a burst of laughter escaped my l*ps. I couldnât help but find amusement in that particular statement.
However, the laughter quickly subsided, replaced by genuine curiosity, as Helena suddenly mentioned overhearing Marlene and her mother speaking the day before. My interest piqued, I eagerly asked her to share what she had heard.
âWell, Miss Amber, I didnât hear the full conversation, but I do have a feeling it could have been about you.â
I tilted my head in confusion, wondering what my mother and useless sister possibly were trying to start up now. âTell me, Helena, what is it that you remember? What did they say?â
Helena took a deep breath, her eyes searching mine. âMiss Amber, forgive me if Iâm wrong, but have you, by any chance, gotten remarried?â
I was taken aback by her question. I had assumed that Helena was already aware of my remarriage since it was sort of a big deal right now, but apparently, that wasnât the case. âYes, Helena, I have remarried,â I confirmed. âWhy do you ask?â
Her gasp of surprise filled the air, and I waited impatiently for her to respond. âThe reason I
wasnât sure if they were talking about you yesterday is because I had no idea you had remarried,â she explained. âDoes your new husband have an Italian surname?â
My heart skipped a beat, a sense of unease settling in. âYes, he does,â I replied. âWhy? What does
that have to do with anything?â
Once again, Helena gasped, her eyes widening in disbelief. âFrom what I overheard, it seems your mother and sister are planning to turn you into some villain with the help of some reporter that I heard them speaking to,â she revealed. âThey were discussing accusing someone of cheating on their exâhusband with their current husband. And if my suspicions are correct, they intend to make you ou to be the bad person, while justifying their own affair.â

lence hung in the air as I absorbed her words. The audacity of my mother and sister to concoct such vile plan left me both infuriated and strangely amused. It amused me that they had decided to air ut their d*rty laundry to the media just to get back at me, and I couldnât wait to make them wish ney had just kept their business hidden.
A chuckle escaped my l*ps before I muttered, âOh, this is going to be so much fun.â
