Chapter 66
Married To My Ex-Husband’s Rival by Jobet GraySon
Chapter Sixty Six
Richardâs POV.
âYouâre out of your mind, Richard! Out of your mind!â Bianca hissed as she paced back and forth in my
room.
âDidnât we agree that youâd shut up about this and give it a rest?â I snapped in response, wondering why she was so intent on sounding like a broken record.
âYou expect me to shut up, stu pid? Are you being serious? How in the world would you think that Iâd ever shut up about the fact that my precious brother is living with a woman who is only ever going to
know, when mom told me you were marrying her, I bring problems for him?â she questioned, â actually wanted to believe that it was all a joke and that maybe, just maybe, thereâs a stunt behind the marriage. But to think you really married the ex-wife of that bastard and you plan on living your life with her? Thatâs crazy, Richard!â
âAnd itâs none of your business, Bianca! Stop trying to act like you and I are close enough to be in each otherâs business. Amber is my wife, and you better accept that or get the hell out! The choice is yours,â I retorted, sick and tired of her habit of sticking her nose where it didnât belong.
I couldnât understand that she was only looking out for me, but I really didnât like how she talked about Amber like she was a plague, and I didnât mind throwing her out if she wasnât going to say
Amberâs name with respect.
âDo you not see my point, Richard? Do you not see why Iâm worried? You and this girl are connected. only in the worst ways, and to my own understanding, such connections are usually ill-fated. You canât possibly think youâll be happy sharing a life with a woman whose heart is equally as dark as
yours,â she said.
I rolled my eyes. âYou and your superstitions, Bibi. So because we have hating Kayden in common, you
think weâre ill-fated? Make it make sense.â
Bianca sighed. âAlright, fine! Let me ask you this: do you love her? And you better not bother lying.
because you know I can tell,â she warned.
Hearing her ask me if I loved Amber took me by surprise a bit, especially because I knew the true
nature of my relationship with Amber, and getting such a direct question made it hard for me to

articulate my thoughts properly.
âYes, I do, Bianca. Are you satisfied?â I responded.
She paused for a while, her eyes fixated on me, almost as though she was also trying to read me.
âIs your marriage arranged? Is it fake?â she asked all of a sudden, and I unconsciously widened my eyes in disbelief because I couldnât believe my ears.
How in the world did the thought cross her mind?
âW-what in the world, Bianca? W-why would you even think in that direction?â I asked.
âItâs a yes-or-no question, Richard. Is your marriage fake?â she questioned.
âAnd what makes you think it is?â
âBecause I know you better than anyone, you idiot. I wouldnât be surprised if you proposed marriage. to her because you wanted to use her against Kayden,â she hissed. âAnd yes, I know whatever you twe have, real or fake, isnât any of my business, but Iâm worried, Richard, Iâm very worried.â
âWorried about what exactly, Bianca? What exactly is it youâre worried about when Iâm perfectly fine?â I asked, hating how she always looked at me like I was some pitiful kid in trouble.
âYou and I know youâre not okay, and I just donât think having that woman by yourself is going to bring you any peace. I want nothing more than for you to be happy and in love, but I donât see happiness in your eyes, Richard. I just donât see it. You, Mom, Dad-all three of you are starting to really concern me, especially you and Mom. Mom is still grieving Gigi and resenting herself for not noticing Gigi was in pain, and you still think youâre the reason Gigiâs dead,â she said, letting out
a frustrated sigh.
âAnd yes, itâs hard to move on from Gigi because she was our baby girl, and we all loved her very much
but you two canât continue like this, Richard. I saw Mom earlier, and she was having a full-blown
conversation with Gigi, like she was seeing Gigi right in front of her. And then thereâs you, who Iâm
pretty sure still doesnât sleep at night because you think you donât deserve to sleep peacefully
until you avenge Giorgia. Youâre not well, Richard, and if what I hear about Amber is true, then
youâre both not well, and youâre not right for each other,â she ranted.
I sighed.

âI know what youâre thinking and why youâre concerned, but youâre wrong, Bianca. Youâre very wrong. Yes, I still have issues sleeping, but itâs no longer half as bad, especially after I married Amber.
I know you think my marriage with her isnât real, which youâre not wrong about, but Amber helps me, Bibi. Believe it or not, she helps me a lot without realizing it,â I admitted.
âAnd how does she help you, Richard? Explain it to me so I can believe you,â Bianca replied.
âWhen I approached her, I just wanted to see how far I could use her. Iâve only known her for at month, Bianca, but in such a short time, she has given me so much energy, and so much life to the point where itâs strange. I feel like Amber is really the only person that can understand me, Bianca.

I know you try to, but you canât understand what I go through, but she does and I know you think that
would make me dwell more on it, but thatâs not the case. In fact, itâs far from it,â I explained.
âBefore Amber, I always woke up feeling empty, tired, and dead on the inside because of my guilt, and
Iâm not saying my guilt is gone, but I donât feel empty anymore, Bianca. Because Iâm married to her
and I know sheâs been through a lot, just like I have, I want to protect her and be there for her.
That gives me a new purpose, other than just getting back at Kayden and making his life hell, and I
donât wake up thinking of just Kayden anymore, I wake up thinking of Amber, and wondering if sheâs
okay.â
It wasnât until after I said the things I said, that I realized how serious it sounded, and when I
looked Bianca in the eye, she had the same shocked expression that I was pretty sure I had on mine a:
well.

âI canât believe it,â she muttered.
âI know, right? What the hell did I just say all that for?â I wondered out loud, still trying to understand how I could have just said that I always wake up thinking of Amber.
âI do hope you know what this feeling is called, Richard,â Bianca mentioned, and I immediately knew
where she was getting at.
âDonât you dare say it, Bianca. Itâs not what youâre thinking.â I quickly clarified.
âSo youâre telling me youâre not in love with the woman you supposedly wake up thinking about?â she
asked.
âItâs not love. I care about her, and because I can relate to her pain, I want to protect her. I care
about her as a friend because we share a similar pain. Thatâs about it,â I responded, making myself
as clear as possible.
Bianca would then sigh, obviously struggling to believe that I was doing okay. âAnd what about her?
Do you think she wakes up thinking about protecting you? Does she care this much about you?â
I rolled my eyes. âThatâs enough, Bianca. Enough questions. And just so you know, I donât need her to wake up thinking about protecting me. The fact that I no longer struggle as much as I used to and now have someone I want to look after is already her way of protecting me from myself without even
realizing it.â
