Married To My Ex-Husband’s Rival by Jobet GraySon
Chapter Sixty Seven
Third Person POV
Amber took a deep breath, her heart pounding in her chest as she tried to steel herself against the nerves creeping up in her. Tonight was no ordinary night, and even though she had told herself many times that she wasnât going to be nervous, she still couldnât help how she felt.
They were attending the extravagant birthday party of Louis Vidal, the famous French fashion designe known for his stunning creations and lavish lifestyle. It was an elite affair, filled with
celebrities from all walks of life, ranging from artists to businessmen, models, and other designers as well. According to Richard, It was less of a birthday party, and more of a gathering to either show off, your wealth and success or build your social network.
As they arrived at the grand hall, Amberâs eyes widened in awe. The place was enormous, with luxurious decorations adoming every corner, and a sea of elegantly dressed individuals mingling and
sipping champagne.
Richard noticed Amberâs nervousness and gently took her hands in his, giving them a reassuring squeeze to remind her that he was by her side.
Amber turned to look at him, a small smile tugging at the corners of her l*ps. Despite being nervous about her first public appearance with him, she knew nothing could go wrong as long as he was with her
With his hands holding on to her wrist, they walked into the hall, Amberâs steps guided by a mixture
of excitement and nervousness, while Richard wanted nothing more than to be anywhere else but her
As they crossed the threshold, Amberâs breath caught in her throat. The sheer number of people was
staggering, making her almost gasp. She had expected the party to be crowded, but she hadnât
anticipated the magnitude of the gathering. Famous faces filled the room, some recognizable from their appearances on TV, others unknown to her.
Richard noticed the surprise etched on her features and leaned down slightly, his voice barely
audible over the hum of conversation. âGet ready to smile until your l*ps turn dryâ he teased. âItâs
going to be an eventful night, Amore. Donât say I didnât warn you.â
Amber rolled her eyes at his dramatic statement, a hint of amusement breaking through her nerves. âRichard, it canât be that bad,â she replied. âYou donât have to make it sound like weâre going to have a conversation with every single person in here.

Richard chuckled, instinctively taking her hand in his again and intertwining his fingers with hers as he led her further into the hall. âMaybe not every single person,â he admitted. âBut youâd be
surprised how many people are excited to meet you, and those thatâll pretend to like me, when they car
t stand me. But donât worry, Iâll be by your side the entire time, and youâll soon see for yourself
what Iâm talking aboutâ
As they took a few steps forward, their progress through the crowd was momentarily halted by an
enthusiastic voice calling out Richardâs name. Immediately, Richard let out an exasperated sigh and
muttered a series of cuss words under his breath, knowing that the inevitable whirlwind of social
interactions had begun.
âAnd so it begins,â Amber overheard him say under his breath.
She couldnât help but chuckle at his resigned tone. âWell, Romero, get ready to smile until your l*ps
tum pale,â she quipped.
Amber and Richard turned around in synchrony, their curiosity piqued as they sought to identify the
person who had called Richardâs name. To Richardâs surprise, the familiar face of his best friend,
Killian Dane, emerged from the crowd. A wide grin crossed Killianâs face as he approached them, his
arms outstretched for a hug.
âRichard, you sneaky bastard!â Killian exclaimed, pulling Richard into a tight hug. âI canât believe
you didnât tell me you were coming. Itâs good to see you, man!â
Richard, accustomed to Killianâs boisterous greetings, chuckled and playfully pushed him away. âGet
off me, you nutcase,â he teased. âI didnât know youâd be here either. What are you doing at Vidalâs
party?â
Killian scoffed, rolling his eyes dramatically. âWhat else would I be doing at an event like this?â
he retorted. âBut enough about me, look who we have here.â Killian turned his attention to Amber, a
warm smile spreading across his face. âAmber, itâs a pleasure to meet you again. You look absolutely
stunning tonightâ
Amber recognized Killian as Richardâs best man from their wedding, and she returned his smile. âThank
you, Killian,â she replied graciously. âItâs wonderful to see you too. How have you been?â
Killian shrugged casually. âOh, you know, causing trouble as always,â he quipped. âSo, howâs it been,
being married to my stu pid friend here? Has he been too much to handle?â

Amber laughed, finding herself at ease in Killianâs presence. âOh, itâs not too bad,â she assured him. âHe has his moments, but heâs alright.â
Richard then turned his attention back to Killian, his curiosity getting the better of him. âAlright, enough small talk,â he said. âWhat on earth are you doing at Vidalâs party? I know you would never willingly come to an event like this. Did something happen?â
Killian let out a frustrated sigh and ran a hand through his hair. âWell, my dear friend,â he began. âMy mother couldnât blackmail any of my older brothers into being her partner for the night, so guess
who got bullied into coming? Yours truly.â
Richard burst into laughter, eaming a death glare from Killian. âThat serves you right,â he
chuckled.
Killianâs expression shifted, his cheeky demeanor momentarily replaced by a more serious one. He
glanced at Amber before tuming to Richard and nodding. âYou know what, I actually wanted to talk to
you about something in private, so Iâll need like five minutes of your time. Mind if I steal him away
for a moment?â he asked Amber.
Amber raised an eyebrow playfully and crossed her arms. âWell, of course you can, but five minutes
means five minutes. Killian. Donât keep him away for any longer,â she teased.
Killian laughed, giving her a mock salute. âI promise, Amber, five minutes and no more,â he assured her. Turning to Richard, he gestured for him to follow. âCome on, letâs find a quiet spotâ
Richard glanced at Amber and smirked. âIâll be back before you know it,â he promised, and much to Amberâs shock, heâd suddenly place a quick peck on her cheek before he and Killian walked away.
She would try not to show that she was surprised, reminding herself that she was his wife, and she shouldnât find anything strange about it.
As Amber waited for Richard to return, her nerves seemed to unravel with each passing moment. To distract herself, she reached out and picked up a glass of champagne from a serverâs tray, taking a small sip to calm her racing heart.
As her gaze wandered across the hall, Amber took in the sight of other guests mingling and enjoying themselves, and while she was admiring the grandeur of the event a familiar voice calling her name

Amber froze, the sound of that voice stirring up a mix of anger and disgust in her. She turned her head slowly, already aware of the person who had called out to her. And as her eyes met his, her distaste deepened.
As she expected, Kayden Black strutted toward her with a smug expression plastered across his face. His very presence sent chills down Amberâs spine, making her wish she could just slap him with her glass.
Suppressing her emotions, Amber straightened her posture and prepared herself to face him. She refused to let his presence ruin her evening, so she met his gaze with a calm facade..

âAmber,â Kayden greeted. âI must say, I wasnât expecting to see you here. How fortunate for me.â
Amber forced a polite smile, her composure unwavering. âAnd unfortunate for me,â she replied. âJust walk away, Mr. Black.â
Kayden smirked, seemingly relishing in their encounter. âOh, I wouldnât act so rudely if I were you, Amber,â he remarked, his condescension palpable. âWe already have a lot of cameras in our direction.â
He pointed out, and it wasnât until Amber looked around her that she realized that true to his word, there were already cameras fixated on her to catch any mistakes she might make.
