Chapter 68
Married To My Ex-Husband’s Rival by Jobet GraySon
Chapter Sixty Eight
Third Person POV
Finally finding a quiet spot away from the crowd, Richard and Killian made sure they werenât followe by any of the reporters looking to find something negative to write about.
âSo, what did you want to talk about, Killian?â Richard asked, his brows furrowing with anticipation.â I canât stay away from Amber for too long. Sheâll start getting nervous since sheâs not used to
Killian nodded, understanding Richardâs need to return to hee. âI get it man,â he replied.
attempting to keep his tone light. âListen, I found out something that might concern you. I happened to overhear Kayden talking to some people, obviously reporters, and he mentioned something about wanting to create trouble for you and Amber tonight, so he asked the reporters to be on the
lookout.â
Richardâs eyes narrowed, not exactly surprised. âWhat do you mean?â he demanded. âWhat is that bastard planning now? Did he mention what he had in mind?â
Killian sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. âIâm not sure exactly. It seems like heâs trying to
stir up
trouble and mess with Amber especially so he can get a reaction out of her. Maybe heâs hoping to get some sort of reaction from you both, but he didnât go into specifics, and I couldnât hear everything he was talking about. I just thought you should know, but I wasnât sure if I could talk
about it in front of Amber.â
Richard clenched his fist, upset that heâd have to deal with Kaydenâs childish antics even on a day
like this. âThanks for telling me, Killian.â
With an annoyed look on his face. Richard left Killian behind and made his way back towards Amber to make sure she wouldnât have to deal with Kayden. As he approached, he couldnât help but notice the uncomfortable expression on her face. And then he saw why-Kayden stood in front of her, a smug gr

Annoyance surged in Richard, but he managed to keep his composure as he swiftly moved to Amberâs side, his arm snaking protectively around her waist. Instantly, he could see the relief wash over Amberâs face, her b*dy relaxing slightly in his presence. With Kayden still standing in front of

Richardâs eves rolled involuntari, his initation growing. âDonât you dare try to speak to her like you deserve to Kayden,â he retorted, his voce low and steady. âInstead of walking around like a lonely and sad excuse for a man, maybe you should focus on taking care of your pregnant wife and not bother mine, I doubt you want those reporters you have hanging around to think youâre still h ooked on

A scoff escaped Kaydenâs l*ps his facade of innocence shattering. âOh, please, shut up, Romero he sneered. âOne would think you two idiots are some kind of a happy couple when youâre nothing but two sad ba st ards, living your lives to get back at me. Donât get bold,
Amber listened silently as Kayden spewed his audacious words, disbelief and anger simmering in her. At first, she had chosen to remain quiet, knowing that she was already the main target of the reporters who were standing at different angles, waiting for a messy scoop.
However, as Kaydenâs arrogance grew more unbearable, she felt compelled to speak up.
âI mean, Kayden,â she interjected, her voice steelier than she had intended. âI know youâre not the smartest person in the room, but surely even you must understand that whatever sick stunt youâre planning would affect you too, right? Why donât you just have some shame and focus on enjoying the party instead of bothering my husband and me? Youâre the old who shouldnât get bold.â
Kayden scoffed, a wicked chuckle escaping his l*ps. âOh, Amber, Amber,â he taunted. âAre you sure heâs really your husband? Isnât he just another man using you for his own selfish reasons? Just like you now know I married you to make up for what I did to your mother, once again, youâre dealing with a man who married you just to spite your ex-husband. You really have the worst luck.â
Amberâs fists clenched at her sides. She tried to gather her composure, reminding herself not to let Kaydenâs words get to her. However, Richardâs rage was palpable, his jaw clenched and muscles tensed as he fought the urge to pounce at Kayden.
âHow dare you?â Richard seethed. âYou donât deserve to speak to her that way. So watch it before
make you.â

Amber quickly stepped in between the two men, placing a hand on Richardâs chest and shaking her head subtly, urging him to reign in his temper. She knew that fighting would only escalate the situation
further, and she refused to let Kayden get what he wanted.
âRichard,â she whispered, âplease, donât let him get to you. Remember why weâre here. Letâs not give
him the satisfaction of getting what he wants.â
Richardâs rage slowly subsided as he met Amberâs gaze. With a deep breath, he nodded and released a
long exhale. âYouâre right,â he admitted, his voice steady. âI wonât let him ruin this night for
us.
Amber stepped closer to Richard, intertwining her fingers with his to calm him down. She would take another look at Kayden before shaking her head at him.
âUntil I finally destroy you, Kayden. I hope you keep enjoying your fun-filled life while it lasts. And while youâre at it, donât come close to us.â
