Chapter 27
[BL] My enemy became my husband
Back to present:
Just as Bartholomew promised, everything got ready within two days. I wasn't really surprised because he said that we had been planning for a year so there wasn't a lot left to get done. But no matter how long we had planned it, there was always something to do and I almost didn't see Bartholomew for the following two days. I only saw him during meals and at night in bed. He did his best to smile but I could see that he was very nervous. But no matter how many times I asked, he insisted that everything was under control and that I didn't have to worry.
We didn't really have a lot of guests and therefore didn't plan a big ceremony. At first Bartholomew didn't seem excited at the thought of inviting Gardenia but I talked him into it and our list extended to Peridot, Gardenia and Zadimus. I didn't know the other people on the list and when I asked Bartholomew told me that they were people he worked with or people who worked for him at his company.
"If you don't like it we could run away and get married just the two of us instead."
I shook my head:
"No, it's okay.
-Are you sure? You are frowning."
I remembered that Bartholomew talked to me about Bonnie, my friend who got missing and I suddenly felt bad for forgetting about her. I knew that Bartholomew was doing everything he could to find her and there wasn't really anything I could do without my memories but I still felt bad for not thinking about her until now:
"Mewmew? Have you found Bonnie?"
Bartholomew pulled me into his arms before lifting me on his lap:
"I am sorry, kitten. I haven't found her yet.
-I don't remember her but if we were close then I would probably want her there. Maybe we should wait for her to come back."
Bartholomew opened wide eyes but immediately calmed down:
"We really don't have to. It's not the first time that she did this.
-Really?
-Yes. She likes running away from home.
-Why? Did something happen to her? That's more reason to wait for her."
Bartholomew brushed a lock of hair away from my face.
"Trust me, she won't be mad. Wouldn't she be mad on the contrary if you didn't get married because of her?
-I don't know..."
He kissed me on the cheek:
"This is our day, kitten. We have been waiting for this day for a year and she knows it.
-I guess.
-The most important thing is what you want.
-I... I don't want to wait. I want to marry you."
Bartholomew kissed me with such passion that I had to push him back:
"Keep some for the ceremony."
He laughed:
"I can't help it; you are so pretty.
-I don't even have the suit on yet.
-Do you need help?
-Don't you dare come in."
I ran away and soon it was time to do our private reveal. I wanted Bartholomew to be the first one to see me in my wedding suit and walked up to him as he had his back turned to me. We planned the reveal in front of a fountain in the garden of the mansion and as soon as he heard the door open, Bartholomew tried turning around:
"Not yet!"
He growled:
"But I want to see!
-Wait for me to come closer.
-Hurry!
-If you rush me I'm going to walk even slower."
Bartholomew whimpered and that made me laugh. He heard me walk up to him on the pebbles and when he couldn't hear me move anymore he immediately asked:
"Can I turn around?"
I took a deep breathe:
"Yes."
Bartholomew turned around so quickly that I thought he would fall over.
"Finally... You are so handsome. So pretty... Kitten, you have no idea how long I've been waiting for this..."
He looked so emotional that I thought he would cry.
"You look very handsome too."
Seeing me blush made Bartholomew laugh and he surrounded my waist with his arm:
"I am the luckiest groom alive.
-Then what about the dead ones?"
He shook his head:
"You're right. The luckiest groom ever."
I laughed:
"Way better."
Now that he saw me, we got into the white limousine that would get us to the City Hall and Bartholomew didn't let go of my hand once during the ride. I could feel my cheeks burning up and he was making me more nervous than I already was:
"Stop staring.
-But you are so pretty."
I looked out the window to hide from his gaze:
"Stop it.
-Why?
-Just... Stop."
Seeing me flustered made Bartholomew smirk and I thought he would continue messing with me but instead he opened the sunroof before sticking his head out and putting his hands around his mouth to scream:
"We are getting married! I am finally marrying the love of my life!"
Passebyes started cheering and Bartholomew gave them a thumbs up:
"He is so pretty I am so lucky!"
Having come to a red light, the passersby had time to yell back:
"Show us!"
Bartholomew shook his head:
"He is acting shy but I can describe him. He has very fluffy curls and I love passing my hand through them. He has gorgeous green eyes that shine when he gets flustered and his waist is the perfect size for me to put my arm around it. His mouth is a very clear pink and it's the same color as..."
Hearing him talk about me made me shy and I couldn't wait for the light to turn green any longer. I quickly jumped up and passed through the sunroof too.
"There he is! The love of my life!"
Bartholomew grabbed my face gently:
"Isn't he pretty?
-Okay that's enough..."
I came to stop him but he was so cute that I couldn't help smiling. The passersby seemed to agree with bartholomew and just as the light turned green they yelled back:
"Congratulations! You are a gorgeous couple!
-Thank you!"
Bartholomew became so energyzed that he really wanted to carry me down the aisle. However, I did manage to get him to walk down with me side by side and the ceremony went by in what felt like a second. I was so nervous that I couldn't hear anything that was going on and jumped when Bartholomew grabbed my hand to put my ring on. He seemed to really like the sight of that because he stared at it and rubbed my finger for long enough for me to call his name:
"Bartholomew?"
He flinched before smiling:
"Sorry. Your finger always felt naked. It's way better like this."
I held back my laugh and relaxed a bit. Now that I finally started wishing for it to never end, we heard the last words:
"You may kiss the groom."
I froze. No. Not already. It was too quick. I wanted to relive it again. Could I take the ring off and put it back on again? I didn't think Bartholomew would like that. He would die if I took the ring off. I tiptoed to be at Bartholomew's level and pulled him towards me by the collar. I didn't think that a wedding kiss should be too intense, and I just pressed our lips together but that didn't please Bartholomew and he grabbed me by the nape before smirking:
"Is that what you call a kiss?"
And he kissed me so intensely that I had to cling to his arm, out of breath. Seeing his dark eyes when he pulled away sent an electric shock throughout my body. This was familiar. This was very familiar. Way more than familiar. Wait a second... I remembered. This already happened once before.
