CHapter 199
The Killer Queen
Chapter 199
Malvina couldnât help but smirk as she listened to Arthurâs tirade echoing through the study. The bubblegum sheâd been chewing was now plugging the keyhole of the studyâs door, a petty act of defiance. Her gaze drifted across the hallway, landing on Yvonne, who looked like a deer caught in headlights.
âMalvina, what on earth are you doing? Are you eavesdropping on Grandpa?â Yvonne inquired.
Malvina let out a rare chuckle, âIdiot, are you scared to see me alive here? Thinking you could plot against me with your peaâsized brain? Do you actually believe youâre capable, or that your Nourishment Pill is some kind of wonder cure?â
She, who always loathed studying, had done her homework by spending three hours with a dictionary and poring over every bit of information she could find on that soâcalled Nourishment Pill. The moment she learned it was laced with toxins, Malvina could finally breathe easy.
âWhâ¦what are you babbling about? I donât understand!â Yvonne snapped.
âThat figures with your intelligence. No need to panic.â She had already sent all the related evidence to Arthurâs inbox. Once he realized he had been poisoning himself, well, Yvonne and her cohort Walden would have hell to pay.
Yvonne stepped back, terror written all over her face when she watched Malvina. How could Malvina possibly know about the pill?
âOh, by the way, did I mention your stupid daddy Duncan? Heâs going to spend the rest of his days behind bars. Surprise, surprise!â Malvina hadnât expected Ulrichâs version of âdealing with Duncanâ to involve luring him into a police trap. Duncan was dirty, and the cops had plenty to pin on him.
Yvonne collapsed to the ground, overwhelmed and frantic. If Duncan was locked away, what would become of her? Sheâd only tasted the life of a Gruber for a short she wasnât ready to give it up!
Ignoring Yvonneâs despair, Malyina sneered and strode back to her bedroom.
In her room, Malvina stared at a photo on her bedside table. The seemingly emboldened woman in it had a bright smile and a black dragon tattoo proudly displayed on her arm.
Tears started to fall as she watched the photo. Clutching the photo itself, she was sobbing so hard. Her pain was excruciating, her hatred overwhelming, âMom, I will find you⦠Iâll send everyone who hurt you straight to hell. I had planned to watch Arthurâs despair when he realized his end was near. Did he ever consider my despair when he killed you?â
âIâve prepared so much, but I canât wait any longer. Will you praise me when we meet

again? Mom, I miss you so muchâ¦â she murmured.
Half an hour later, the Gruber mansion was engulfed in flames. The fire roared, consuming every inch of the estate.
Arthur, awakened by the blaze, felt deathâs cold grip.
How had he fallen asleep during a serious conversation with Yates?
Yates tried to find the key as soon as he woke up, only to find the door locked from the outside.
âGrandpa⦠why⦠why is our house on fire?â he asked.
Arthur scrambled for the keys, but the lock was still jammed after he twisted it for a long
time.
âSomeoneâs blocked the lock!â In a fit of panic, Arthur knocked Yates to the floor, desperately trying to open the door himself. âWho dares to cross us like this?â
The fire soon reached the study, overwhelming Arthur and Yates with smoke until they lost
consciousness.
Meanwhile, at the Polaris Star.
Nolan, monitoring the Polaris Starâs surveillance system, had accessed the Gruberâs cameras, suspecting trouble tonight, âHoly smokes, Boss, Malvina set the Gruber place on fire! Sheâs no princess; sheâs a warrior!â
The entire Polaris Star crew was stunned.
Phecda gave a thumbs-up, âWord is, Malvinaâs mom was killed during Arthurâs power grab. He coveted Shadow Dragon Society so he joined forces with the Shadow Dragon Societyâs boss to get rid of the original leader and his daughter, namely Ma
> mom.â
Ivan nodded in agreement, âMalvinaâs got guts, and thatâs a true revenge story. But itâs a shame if she goes down with the ship.â
Noella stood up, her eyes on Palmer by her side, âI need to go to the Gruber estate. Could use a driver. You free?â
âOf course.â
Palmer would do anything, even play chauffeur, just for her.
But Palmer was so willing to do that; he couldnât wait for her to call out to him every time
she needed a driver.
The Gruber mansion was a fiery inferno, an everâgrowing beacon in the night.
Noella clasped the unburned window ledge and jumped in, finding Malvina unconscious

on the bed with a peaceful and content smile on her face.
Noella hoisted Malvina over her shoulder, leaping out from the same spot just as the ceiling collapsed where Malvina had been lying.
Noella checked Malvinaâs pulse after resting her in it, âSheâs alive. To the hospital.â
As they drove away, passing fire engines heading to the blaze, Noella turned her focus back to the road ahead.
Theyâd leave the Grubersâ fate to God. It had nothing to do with them.
In the ER, just as Ulrich was about to grab a quick bite to stave off his hunger, he almost choked on his water when Malvina was rushed in on a gurney!
âWhat happened? Noella, what are you doing here?â
âSave her first, Ulrich!â
On the way to the hospital, Noella had already performed some basic first aid, and Malvinaâs condition wasnât too critical.
Without another word, Ulrich sprinted towards the trauma center, pushing the gurney with one hand and stuffing his halfâeaten sandwich into Noellaâs arms with the other.
A patient clutching his belly spotted the sudden appearance of the gurney that had commandeered his spot and was visibly upset.
âMy stomach is killing me! Why doesnât the doc see me first? Whatâs with jumping the queue in this hospital?â he grumbled.
Resources in the ER were scarce, and in emergencies, the most severe cases took precedence.
âIâve been waiting here for two hours! You canât just cut in line! Iâm going to fil complaint!â
The nurse cast a stern glance at them, âYouâve just got a stomach bug and you can handle the pain! But she might be dying! Emergency rooms are for saving lives, for heavenâs
sake!â
A few patients were about to protest when suddenly another gurney was rushed in from outside. A swarm of medics surrounded it with Calvin sprinting alongside, desperately clutching an IV bag.
âMove! Get out of the way! Clear a path! Alert the OR!â
Calvinâs eyes locked on Noella, and in an instant, it was as if he had seen an angel!
âNoella, come with me. This patient is in a critical condition!â
