CHapter 270
The Killer Queen
Chapter 270
The hospital room fell into an eerie silence.
Dr. Lowry hadnât expected this â that Ulrichâs and Yvonneâs connections would trace back to the same roots!
The Schnabel family never publicly acknowledged Yvonneâs claim, but she took it upon herself to promote her own status. Her mantra at school was all about Márcelâs status.
Ulrich tried to calm the waters. âLook, she doesnât carry that name anymore. And her threats about ruining your residency? Empty
words.â
Jasper had already taken legal action against Yvonne and the production team from Stirling.
THE
Just yesterday, she was scrambling for money, probably to afford a decent lawyer. As if anyone could outmaneuver Jasper in court!
*Sheâs likely facing jail time, but weâre curious if thereâs more to her story. Though my family never embraced her, weâre prepared to make amends on her behalf.â
The Schnabel children were always responsible.
Despite the fact that the Schnabel family had no involvement in Dr. Lowryâs issues, Yvonne had maliciously used their names against
her.
Dr. Lowry quickly interjected, âOh no, Dr. Schnabel, since sheâs not really one of yours, itâs not for you to fix her messes. Knowing sheâll face justice is enough for me. Besides, I owe my life to the two ladies here.â
It was Noella and Elara who pulled her back from deathâs door!
âYvonne didnât really do much at school. She was hardly there. But, I overheard her once, bragging on the phone..â
Dr. Lowry hesitated, struggling to voice her thoughts. She glanced at Noella and whispered, âCan you lean in, Ms. Schnabel?â
Noella nodded and leaned closer to hear Dr. Lowryâs hushed words.
After listening, Noellaâs eyes widened in disbelief.
âReally?â
Dr. Lowry nodded. âYeah, it seemed like she was talking to her grandmother. She sounded really proud.â
Noella was taken aback!
If what Dr. Lowry said was true, then Yvonne once reached out to Beckettâs ex, claiming she was the future Schnabel daughterâinâlaw And Ashlyn was in on it too! Or perhaps she was the mastermind?
Dr. Lowry, exhausted from the conversation, rested.
Stepping out of the room, Noella shared what Dr. Lowry had disclosed.
Elara gasped. âWhat? Yvonne claimed she was pregnant with Beckettâs child? Thatâs utterly ridiculous! She was underage back then!â
Ulrich took a moment to process.
âSo, those rumors about Beckett having a secret child was Yvonneâs doing. Perhaps Beckettâs ex didnât believe those rumors but trusted Yvonne when she approached her directly?â
Noella nodded. âIn that light, itâs understandable why Beckettâs ex might have believed Yvonne.â
Putting themselves in her shoes, Beckettâs exâgirlfriendâs departure made more sense, likely due to being heartbroken beyond repair.
The siblings exchanged looks.
Elara questioned, âShould we tell Beckett? But he said sheâs married now. It wouldnât be right to disrupt her life, would it?â
Ulrich looked at Noella. âNoella, you should tell him.â
âMe?â
Ulrich smiled knowingly. âBeckett dotes on you. He wonât get mad at whatever you say. He deserves to know, regardless of what happens next. We should trust Beckett to do the right thing, morally and ethically.
Elara nodded. âMakes sense. Noella, you talk to him. He wonât shoot the messenger if itâs you.â
Reluctantly, Noella dialed Beckett, briefly explaining the situation.
âBeckett, are you listening?â
âYes, Noella, I am. Thank you for letting me know.â Beckettâs voice was hoarse, tinged with weariness.

âBeckett, wonât you try to clear things up with her?â

Chapter 270
Beckett chuckled sadly, his gaze drifting towards the beach. He had just emerged from a corporate gathering, his body cloaked in exhaustion.
âNoella, what if someone approached you claiming Mr. Pollack had a child? What would you do?â
Noella pondered earnestly, âI wouldnât believe them.â
Despite her confusion about her feelings for Palmer, sheâd verify such claims herself.
âAt least Iâd confront him. I wouldnât unjustly accuse someone. Thatâs unfair.â
Beckett smiled warmly. âThatâs my sister. So, it wasnât just Yvonne and Ashlyn meddling. There was more. She always hesitated to visit our family. I thought it was just stress, but it was also a lack of trust in me, in us.â
Beckett had once been clueless about Darcyâs avoidance. Now, with the wisdom of years, he understood her perspective. He failed to protect her vulnerabilities and insecurities; she doubted his steadfast commitment.
Beckett lifted a champagne glass, its contents shimmering under his elegant touch.
âDonât worry about me. I know what I must do.â
âTake care, and come home soon.â
Hanging up, Beckettâs gaze lingered on the waves, draining his glass in solitude. He chuckled at himself. âLooks like the partyâs over.â
They couldnât go back anymore.
At Imperial University, a knock on the deanâs office door was followed by Garrickâs voice from inside, âCome in.â
Noella entered, her backpack slung over her shoulder. âSir, Iâm here to apply for an exemption from some courses.â
Garrick took off his glasses, fixing his gaze on Noella.
âAs a student, your primary responsibility is to learn. Why are you trying to skip so many classes? If thatâs the case, why bother coming to college at all?
Noella replied calmly, âMy grandma wanted me to come.â
Garrick paused, clearly not expecting such a simple reason for Noellaâs attendance!
âYou shouldnât treat your studies lightly. I cannot approve your application. You need to attend all your classes punctually. If you donât show up, Iâll have to fail you!â
Noella frowned slightly, looking at the stern and somewhat aloof elderly man before her.
Garrick was about the same age as Marcel, but his eyes always held a certain inscrutable quality that made Noella slightly uncomfortable.
She nodded, pulling out a prepared withdrawal form from her bag. âWell, in that case, I guess youâll just have to sign this withdrawal form.â
Garrick looked at the form. âAre you joking? You promised your grandmother youâd attend college, and now youâre treating it like a joke? Havenât the Schnabel family taught you to keep your promises?â
Noella shrugged, a hint of resignation in her voice. âI promised Grandma Iâd go to college, not that Iâd graduate.â
