CHapter 284
The Killer Queen
Chapter 284
In the depths of the Shadow Dragon Society, deceit was as common as the air they breathed. Some members had openly thrown their support behind Larson, hastening to curry favor with him once he ascended to the presidency of the Pollack Group.
Recently, Malvina found herself in a tight spot, her situation far from as rosy as it appeared.
Noella spoke up, her voice calm. âIf you need help, just head down to the fight club and look for Alioth and the crew.â
âTheyâve already done so much for me! Some things, Iâve got to handle on my own.â
Malvina was well aware that her grip on a significant portion of the Shadow Dragon Society was largely due to Noellaâs covert assistance. Without the protection of the folks from the fight club, she might not have had the chance to crawl back to Ulrich every time!
At this, Malvina felt a wave of despondency, hugging Noella tightly, burying her head in her embrace.
âLucky Iâm always on my toes! Otherwise, Iâd have been done for by now! Arthur was about to be executed, and he even wanted me to witness it. Noella, darling, would you come with me?â
The verdict for the Gruber family had just been passed down; Arthur and Yates were sentenced to death, while Walden received a lighter sentence due to his minimal involvement in the core affairs of the Gruber family.
âIf you want to go, Iâll be with you.â
Malvina showered Noellaâs face with kisses!
âLetâs go tomorrow then! Noella, darling, what brings you to the hospital?â

Noella glanced up at Calvin, who had just finished his rounds. Flanked by a procession of doctors, he was briefing a colleague on some details.
âIâm here for him.â
Professor Calvin had an appointment with Lavinia for a followâup today and had invited Noella to join.
Calvin felt fortunate for the rare interest Noella showed in a patient. He sometimes felt intellectually dwarfed by Noella and Ulrichâs analysis, almost as if his IQ was being ground into the dust by the brilliance of the Schnabel family.
Noella was a medical prodigy!
If only she wasnât so averse to drawing attention to herself, Calvin doubted heâd have had the chance to be involved in her research projects.
Turning around, Noella saw a middleâaged man stumbling out of a room, rushing up to hug Calvinâs leg!
âProfessor Calvin! My feelings for you are genuine! Please, give us a chance!â
An awkward silence fell over the onlookers.
Calvin, struggling to keep his pants up without being pulled down, turned beet red.
âIâm married!â
The patient grew even more agitated. âI know, but I donât want to be your wife! Iâll be your husband!â

Calvin searched his mind for words that could rebuff the patient without wounding his dignity. After a long pause, he managed, âIâm not into men.â
The patientâs face, flushed with high altitude red, was full of reproach. âIf youâre not interested, why did you check out my backside?â
Calvin was at a loss for words. âYouâre a proctology patient. How am I supposed to treat you without checking?â
The patient was relentless, demanding Calvin take responsibility. The surrounding doctors quickly intervened to separate them.
Malvina, watching the scene unfold, recognized the mummy guy helping the patient. Wasnât he the same one who had harassed her earlier?
âBirds of a feather flock together, huhâ¦â
Calvin, his face a shade of crimson, had not expected such a situation in years, especially not in front of Noella, which made him feel utterly embarrassed. Approaching Noella and Malvina, who were trying hard not to laugh, Calvin resigned himself. âGo ahead, laugh if you want!â
His years in the field hadnât spared him from encountering such patients!
Sensing the gaze upon him, the mummy guy turned to see Malvina and rushed over, his attention fixated on Noella.
âAre you Noella? Iâm your brother!â
Noella frowned, stepping back with Malvina without making a sound.
âIâm Vincentâs son, your brother, Harry Lambert!â
Harryâs excitement at seeing Noella was palpable. Had Vincent not informed him just days ago that the Lambert familyâs disregarded adopted daughter, Noella, was actually the daughter of the Schnabel family, Harry might not have recognized her.
Noellaâs eyes were cold. âI donât know you.â
Undeterred, Harry was desperate. Vincentâs bankruptcy had left him penniless, and now that he had found Noella, he was not about to let her go.
Harry observed Noella from head to toe. She was exceptionally beautiful, indeed bearing no resemblance. to anyone from the Lambert family.
âNoella, darling, Dad even sent me a video of going to you at Serene Haven. I couldnât possibly mistake you!â
His words hinted at a threat. If Noella refused to acknowledge him, heâd leak the video and ruin her.
âPerhaps we should talk in the emergency exit? Itâs more private.â
âThat sounds appropriate.â Noella agreed, knowing the emergency exit lacked surveillanceâa perfect spot for a discreet conversation.
Harry had underestimated Noella, assuming her delicate appearance meant she was weak.
Malvina fully understood Noellaâs capabilities but couldnât help but caution, âBe careful, alright? Donât get your dress dirty.â

âSure, Iâll be back in no time.â
As Harry and Noella stepped through the security door and it shut behind them, Calvin started to fret.
âHow could you just let her go off with some guy we barely know? What if something happens? How am I supposed to explain this to Marcel?â
The more Calvin thought about it, the more anxious he became, so he hurried off to make some calls for
backup.
Inside the emergency exit, Noella faced Harry and rubbed her wrists.
âTo be honest, I really wanted to leave the Lamberts alone, but you guys just keep pestering me. Itâs truly
annoying.â
Mistaking Noellaâs calm demeanor for fear, Harry confidently made his demands.
âLook, Noella, all I need is for the Schnabels to hook me up with a cushy job. Nothing too strenuous, just a CEO position at the Schnabel Group, and maybe toss a few companies my way to manage. Thatâs not asking too much of the Schnabels, right?â
âOh, and that beauty you hang out with? Iâm quite taken with her too. Marrying her might be out of my league, but a little fling wouldnât hurtâ¦â
Before Harry could continue, Noellaâs fist connected with his face, and before he could even scream, her next punch hit his throat, silencing the cry that had reached his
tips.
Gazing down at Harry as he tumbled down the stairs, Noellaâs eyes were filled with utter disdain and
coldness.
âDisgusting. It seems the things that displease me truly deserve their fate.â
It was clear, her past restraint only served to embolden people like him.,
Noella descended the stairs, step by step, towards the now terrified Harry, with a smile reminiscent of a queen from the underworld.
âWhat was that you were saying? I didnât quite catch it. Maybe youâd like to repeat it?â
Harry shook his head frantically. âNo, no, if you lay a hand on me, my backer wonât let you off! Even the Schnabels canât afford to mess with him!â
