CHapter 286
The Killer Queen
Chapter 286
Tristan mulled it over and decided it made perfect sense.
Noella, however, couldnât quite get on board with Tristanâs way of thinking.
Was she seriously measuring trouble by the âbrotherâ unit?
Lorneâs antics were becoming too much, enough to make Noella sick of him.
Tristan stepped aside to a quieter spot, asking with concern, âSweetie, why do you want to hit Lorne? What did he do?â
Lucian Richardson and Marcel, after all, were acquaintances. And with Elaraâs connection in the mix, Tristan wouldnât normally mess with the Richardson family, unless they messed with his darling daughter
first!
âItâs nothing, just that he deliberately had someone try to run me over on campus, thinking he could play the hero. So, I gave him a piece of my mind. And he even got Vincentâs illegitimate son to harass me.â
Tristan felt his blood pressure soar!
This was ânothingâ?
âThe hell, does Lorne have a death wish? Messing with my daughter? Sweetie, are you okay? Why didnât
you
tell me about the near accident? Has Beckett been eating dirt lately?â
How could Beckett let something this big happen while taking care of his siblings!
âIâm fine, Beckett took care of it, and even got in touch with the Richardson family. But I felt better settling it myself.â
As Noella spoke, she headed towards Lorneâs hospital room.
Tristan calmed down. âAs long as youâre okay, thatâs what matters! Go on, give him what for! If you break anything, itâs on Jacob. After all, Lucian canât stand him, and wonât mind adding to his troubles.â
Tristan had his own reasons.
Why not? Jacob had made his other daughter suffer!
âItâs settled then. Iâm off.â
Hanging up, Tristan was still fuming. When Sienna came over, the couple realized there was a serious
concern.
âWhat if our darling hurts her hand in the process? Better call Ulrich in line and get some backup over there!â
By the time Noella hung up, she was already at Lorneâs hospital room door. With a slight tilt of her head, she said, âHandle the surveillance.â
âRight away!â
Noella entered the room, and shortly after, she stepped out, casually rubbing her wrist.
Mizar chuckled. âBoss, Ms. Gruber and Professor Calvin are waiting for you on the floor we were on.â
âOkay. Take care of things here.â

*Chapter 286
In the room, Lorne lay unconscious.
Noella had carefully avoided the surgical wounds as she made her point. As someone who had recently undergone major surgery, Lorne couldnât withstand any sort of physical assault. Apart from the initial surprise on Lorneâs face upon seeing Noella, the rest was disbelief and blood.
Mizar clicked his tongue, snapping a photo to capture the moment.
Lying on the bed next to Lorne, Thorpe feigned deep meditation, choosing to play dead the moment Noella entered.
No joke, he wasnât about to get beaten for nothing!
As Noella returned to the emergency department floor, she saw Malvina arguing fiercely with a young man, defending Dr. Lowry, who was seated in a wheelchair behind her.
The young man was adamant. âMy mom said if I marry Dr. Lowry, the house wonât be in her name, but sheâd pay for the decor since sheâll live there too!â
Malvina was flabbergasted by his audacity.
âOh, please! And whatâs next? The kids wonât take your name, but youâll still support them, even if theyâre not yours? Since youâll be playing daddy anyway! Such a schemer, why not go back to playing Monopoly? Think youâre some kind of accountant?â
The manâs face turned beet red. âYou donât get it! My mom said this is all normal: Besides, this is between me and Dr. Lowry, none of your business! My mom also said the hospital would definitely pay Dr. Lowry compensation, which we can use for the renovations. Itâs all free money for her anyway.â
Noella stepped in, her voice dripping with sarcasm. âAll this âmy momâ talk, I thought you were some kindergarten kid who hadnât weaned off yet.â
Malvina snorted in agreement. âKindergarten kids speak better than this. At least they donât come up with such calculating yet heartless comments. You might as well marry your mom and live happily ever after. Whatâs this âfree moneyâ you speak of? Sheâs been through hell and back, not just picking up cash off the street. Why donât you try hurting yourself, maybe aim for your pant, see if you consider that free money.

Malvinaâs sharp tongue had made many in the Gruber family weep. In just a few sentences, she had Dr. Lowryâs boyfriendâs face turning a deep shade of crimson!
âI didnât even mind her being more educated. My mom⦠high education turns women bad, makes them terrible at bearing children. Whatâs wrong with her spending a bit on decor?â
Malvinaâs eyes couldâve rolled out of her head.
Noella turned to Dr. Lowry. âAre you going to break up with him?â
Dr. Lowry stepped out of the hospital room upon learning that Noella had arrived, intending to have a conversation with her. But she didnât expect Noella to encounter her while she was arguing with her boyfriend. Least of all, she hadnât anticipated that Noella, witnessing her lowest, would still stand up for her!
Nodding vigorously, Dr. Lowry agreed, âYes! Breaking up! Right now. Iâve had enough!â
After the accident, she received a lot of support. Her colleagues and parents took turns caring for her, yet all this man cared about was compensation!
Noella nodded: âAt least youâre not completely foolish.â

*Chapter 286
She was willing to lend Dr. Lowry a hand, but not to a lovesick fool.
To Dr. Lowryâs ex, Noella said, âLifeâs a drag when youâre a toad trying to lecture humans. The crematorium should call your beloved mom, ask how wellâdone she wants you.â
âHow dare you talk to me like that! So what if I donât have a masterâs degree? Iâm still a gentleman!â
The man couldnât handle the sharp wit of Noella and Malvina, each jab more cutting than the last. He ended up sitting on the floor, bawling his eyes out! He was one step away from calling his mom to tell her someone was picking on him.
When Dr. Lowryâs parents heard what happened, they came rushing over and practically chased her exâboyfriend off the hospital.
Malvina gave Dr. Lowry a comforting pat on the shoulder. âWhy on earth would you pick guys out of the dumpster?â
âIâ¦I used to think I was unattractive, and believed that finding someone whoâd want me was next to impossibleâ¦â
Thatâs why Dr. Lowry had put up with her exâboyfriendâs nonsense.
Her eyes shone with gratitude as she looked at Noella.
It was Noella who had pulled her back from the brink, who had been there for her time and again, reminding her that her life had purpose!
Dr. Lowry clenched her fists. âThank you, guys. I swear Iâll become stronger!â
Down the hallway, a commotion was brewing.
Dr. Calvin was accompanied by a dashing man in a sleek trench coat, his presence commanding and intense, as chilling as a mountain spring. But the moment his eyes found Noella, the ice melted away, replaced by a warm, tender smile.
âWhat brings you here?â
in shining armor. Tristan called me, said a friend of mine was stirring up trouble in the
âPlaying the hospital, and asked me to come sort it out.â
Noella hadnât expected Tristan to call Palmer as well!
Raising an eyebrow, Noella looked at Palmer. âThereâs a mess alright. Whatâs your plan for cleanup?â
âAnyone who upsets you doesnât just get a mess to deal with; they get a tombstone,â Palmer replied, halfâjoking yet entirely serious.
