CHapter 50
The Killer Queen
Chapter 50
Marcel snorted coldly.
âWhere did you get the money to buy such pricey stuff? And who did you buy it from?â
Yvonne hemmed and hawed, âJust some medicine dealers sold it to me for a hundred grand a pop. Grandmaâs been feeling way better after taking the Nourishment Pill, so I got it for Grandpa Sexton tool It cost me a pretty penny of my pocket money! Grandpa, I really wanted Grandpa Sexton to get better. How could there be anything wrong with the Nourishment Pill?â
âThe Pollack familyâs lawyers will be coming for you. Tell me everything you know, and cough up those dealersâ contact info, or the Schnabel family canât save you!â
Yvonne quickly agreed!
How could the Nourishment Pill be a problem?
After hanging up, Marcel frowned and said, âWith this girlâs smarts, she couldnât have pulled this off alone. Iâll leave the rest to you guys. Noella, donât worry, no matter what you find, Grandpaâs got your back.â
âOkay, Grandpa.â
Stepping out of the hospital, Noella furrowed her brows as she looked at her hand, still intertwined with Palmerâs.
âCan you let go?â
or was to
Holding hands reassure Marcel and Sexton, but why the heck are we still hand in hand?
Palmerâs face, however, was all smiles.
âLast time I let go of your hand, I regretted it, but back then I didnât know you were my fiancée, so I didnât dare to overstep. If I had known, I wouldnât have let go.â
Noella was like, is he talking about that time we ran into Vincent?
âLet go.â
âNo.â
Noella frowned lightly and said, âDonât make me thump you.â
âIf my fiancée fancies a sparring session right here at the hospital entrance, Iâm all in, but the grandpas are watching us. Besides, Iâd prefer to spar somewhere more fitting, any way your
want.â
Noella was speechless. Why do I get the feeling this guyâs words have layers of meaning?
Turning her head, she indeed saw the two old men braving the wind, heads out the window. watching them. Two huddled together, faces beaming with loving smiles.
#ta brawl between them broke out now at the hospital entrance, the old gents would probably be scared straight into the ICU.
Palmer gallantly opened the car door for her. âWhere to? Iâll drop you off.â
Noella thought for a moment and said. âTo Utrichâs lab, I need to borrow some of his lab equipment.
Ulrichâs lab boasted some of the worldâs most advanced equipment, capable of getting results. in a jiffy with 98.9% precision,
âDonât you have your own lab?â
Phantom Surgeon Lunaris certainly had her own lab; the meds she developed for Marcel were all her own work!
âYeah, but my labâs not as upâtoâsnuff as Ulrichâs, precisionâs at 98.5%.â
She hadnât gotten around to updating her equipment, plus a new set cost an arm and a leg and needed a bunch of procedures to get approved.
âIâll send it over as a gift. Just give me an address. If you donât want me to know where your lab is, you can have your people pick it up from the Pollack Group.â
The precision she needed for her lab equipment was skyâhigh, and a set would probably cost a small fortune. He was offering it just like that?
âBecause your consultation fee and the ongoing cost of the meds for my grandpa isnât expensive.
âI have a few international caregivers on hand, trustworthy but pricey.â
Price isnât an issue: the Pollack family is loaded.
âThanks, Noella. I really owe you one this time! Otherwise, I wouldnât know how to face Grandpa!â
âItâs no sweat. Iâll send you the address. Just drop me off at Ulrichâs today.â
A hint of regret flashed in Palmerâs eyes!
The Pollack Group really couldnât hold a candle to the Schnabel family in the medical field. Otherwise, she wouldnât have to go to Ulrich for a lab!
Annie was driving, visibly excited!
Miss Noella said sheâd send Palmer her address, which means she doesnât mind him knowing where her lab is! What does that mean? It means the boss will have plenty of chances to pick up and drop off Miss Noella from work. And when theyâre both free, they could even go for a romantic candlelit dinner.
And Annie wouldnât have to work overtime anymore!
Ulrich, having received Noellaâs call, was already waiting at the labâs entrance.

Thanks, Mr. Pollack, for bringing Noelia over. Next time, just call me for a ride.
Pamer smited politely and said. âDropping off my lancée is my duty, no need for formalities, r come later to pick Noelia up for dinner, you joining?â
Urichâs gaze at Palmer was complicated, as if heâd swallowed a fly.
âOh sure
What are they competing for?
rich, letâs go in,â said Noella..
âAlright.â
Palmer watched the siblings disappear into the lab before turning away, âAnnie, dig into Yvonneâs entire network, I want to know where every single Nourishment Pill in her hands came from.â
âYes. Mr. Pollack. Do you think Yvonne is clueless about these things?â
Palmer sneered, his thin lips curling into a mocking smile.
âSheâs a blockhead, but that doesnât mean her backers are. A Nourishment Pill that goes for a million a pop is usually difficult to sell. If Yvonneâs got so many, it just means she doesnât know. what sheâs dealing with!â
With Yvonneâs smarts, chances were she thought the Nourishment Pill had some other effects. and thatâs why she fed them to the old folks!
Annie was also aware of the gravity of the situation. Although Sexton didnât voice any blame in the hospital room, Mr. Pollack was actually feeling quite guilty!
âYes!â
Meanwhile, in Ulrichâs lab.
âNoella, I got the lowdown on what you were talking about, and Iâve got all the lab gear ready to roll. But Iâve got a surgery lined up in a bit, so youâll have to hang tight.â
Ulrich, being the genius doc that he is, has folks lining up out the door every day to get a piece of his time, and most of them are patients that even the Schnabel family canât turn away.
Noella knew Ulrichâs slammed, and sweetly said, âGot it, Ulrich. Can I take the lab gear for a spin?â
Ulrich cracked a tender smile and gently ruffled her soft hair, looking like the cat that got the
cream.
âOf course you can. Dive right in! If anything breaks, I will just buy a new one!â
Heâs got that indulgent vibe of a parent who canât say no to their kiddo.

Chapter 50
âWhat I mean is, I can crunch the numbers on the Nourishment Pill data. You do your thing, Ulrich. Just leave the lab gear to me, and donât worry.â
Ulrich was over the moon, not doubting for a second whatever reasoning his little sis had for claiming sheâs got the chops to handle the gear.
âCool, Iâll set you up with access. Take my card, and feel free to use it for anything. All the lab equipment passwords are your birthday.â
âAlright, go do your thing, Ulrich.â
Ulrich gave his assistant a few headsâups to stick with Noella like glue, just in case something went sideways and he couldnât bail her out midâsurgery.
âMiss Noella, Iâm Mr. Schnabelâs assistant Lily. Please follow me.â
Noella gave a nod and trailed behind Lily to the lab that Ulrich had all prepped.
A bunch of busy doctors looked up as Noella walked in, giving her the onceâover, all a bit puzzled about how a girl who looked like a high schooler waltzed into their lab space. After all, Itâs not exactly a place where just anyone can pop in.
âLily, whatâs the deal? This isnât daycare: whatâs with the kid dropping by for a tour?â
Lily quickly shoots them a look that said, âCool your jets. Thatâs Mr. Schnabelâs sister, so watch it!â
âBut Mr. Schnabelâs sister coming to see him doesnât mean she should be in the lab, right? This place is chockâfull of experimental data. If something goes awry, not even Mr. Schnabel could
fix it.â
