CHapter 63
The Killer Queen
Chapter 63
The person on the other end of the phone had no idea that their little bit of trash talking had caused the workload for the entire organization to skyrocket overnight.
âBoss, youâre so ruthless, even scamming your own flancé. Back when you were competing for missions, was that also a kind of date for you guys?â
Noella interrupted them, âBeat it. I want to see the latest data on Reagent Number Three by tomorrow morning.â
A shrill scream echoed through the phone!
âBoss, just âcause we interrupted your little date, youâre gonna make us stay up all night? Thatâs
cold!â
Fearing the workload might increase even further, Alioth quickly hung up and blocked his
bossâs number.
Palmerâs smile widened, and a muffled grunt escaped his chest, oozing sex appeal.
âSo you like this kind of date, huh? Then Abyssal Organization will have to collaborate with Obelisk Organization more often, to give us more opportunities for âdates.ââ
Noella was like, is this what they call dating?
Noella gave him a puzzled look and asked lightly. âWhy did you take the order?â
âIâm not that magnanimous. I donât want my fiancée treating other men.â
âYour grandfather is also a man.â
Palmer struggled for a response.
âDoesnât he count? Next time Iâll have to tell Grandpa Sexton you said heâs not a man.â
Palmerâs smile was choked out, and his handsome face showed a rare look of embarrassment. the corners of his eyes tinged with a blush, making his good looks even more strikingly beautiful.
Noellaâs lips curled into a triumphant smile!
Palmer was just petty. She was a doctor; since when did she discriminate by gender? He was just looking for trouble!
âHowâd you know Thorpe was treating a man?â asked Noella.
Palmer reached for his goldârimmed glasses and handed them to Noella. âHelp me clean them, will you? I canât see the road.â
âNeed to clean nonâprescription glasses? I think you see better without them.â
âTheyâre special glasses.â
Chapter 63
Noella took a look and angled the lenses to catch the light, revealing a thin data screen, a mini surveillance device!
This device was once sold on the black market for a high price by Polaris Star, and she didnât expect Palmer to have bought it.
All the data from Polaris Star came from her, and seeing this monitor, Noella understood what
Palmer meant.
âYouâve put surveillance on Thorpe?â
I
âIsnât it the same with you? Like I said, we are always in sync.â
After a moment of silence, Noella carefully wiped the lenses clean with her handkerchief and handed them back to Palmer.
âMy people arenât there to watch Thorpe; theyâre looking for the director of Heartfelt Orphanage.â
Thorpe had taken the director of Heartfelt Orphanage, and Polaris Starâs people were on their
trail.
Palmer enjoyed watching her seriously cleaning his glasses, the nightâs shadows casting down on her as she slightly bowed her head, her eyelashes shielding her starry eyes, giving him more time to admire her.
Thinking of how calm and graceful she looked while cleaning his glasses made his heart soften. feeling warmth he hadnât felt in a long time!
That was Noellaâs magic, always making him want to be near her.
He put on his glasses and steered the car back towards the city. âMy guys have gotten close to Thorpe. The one arrested with Toxic Monarch is Thorpeâs brother, and he has another brother whoâs terminally ill. Thatâs the real reason heâs been frantically looking for Phantom Surgeon. Lunaris.â
âMhm, he got close to Toxic Monarch, supposedly to make money in Harmonia Country, but really to get his hands on Toxic Monarchâs Mirage Grass. Iâve analyzed the components of Mirage Grass, and it indeed acts as a catalyst for certain cancers.â
âSo, he wonât give up easily. You need to be careful these next few days.â
Noella nodded. She always had a team with her; Thorpeâs people wouldnât find it easy to approach her.
âLet me take you around for a while then. I wonât be at ease otherwise.â
Noella didnât respond.
Lately, she was either accompanying her three brothers in turns or video calling Stirling, who was filming outside, and Elara, who was busy with experiments. Whenever she had time, sheâd play chess with the old guys at Imperial West Hospital. Why would she need him to chauffeur

her?
âYou havenât even got your driverâs license, so how about I become your personal driver, huh?â Palmer probed further.
Noella glanced at him indifferently and said, âIf youâre into driving that much, why not sign up as an Uber driver and make some money on the side?â
âSo are you already planning for me? You are so considerate! Donât worry, I have a decent earning ability, so I wonât let you go hungry in the future. The Lunaris order I just took can be considered as your consultation fee. If my grandpa needs money for medicine, come to me, got it? If you ever run into danger, remember to find me, okay?â
Would there be time to find him if real danger struck?
Palmer pulled the car into a side street and stopped under a dim street lamp. Suddenly, he leaned forward, propping his hand by Noellaâs side of the car window, his presence looming as he gazed at her intensely.
âNoella, I know youâve always been independent and capable; You are not like the average girl. But now you have a family. If you can, I hope youâll trust me; I can provide whatever the Schnabel family can give you, and what they canât.â His voice carried a deep, seductive charm, like a siren singing softly on the shores. âFor instance, I can offer you my embrace and my back.â
Noellaâs eyes widened slightly, her long lashes trembling.
They were both assassins; they knew a personâs back was only left for their most trusted partner in life and death.
âSo, give it a shot â trust me, lean on me, and hey, maybe let yourself miss me a smidge. When you need a lift, Iâll be there to scoop you up, okay?â
His voice carried a hint of hurt, like he was half complaining, half begging, and it totally turned Noella into a softie.
âMhm, got it.â
Palmer smiled and gently patted her head, his palm slightly damp with a nervous warmth only he knew about. Standing so close to Noella just then had him on pins and needles. If he wasnât so worried about spooking his little lady, he mightâve even gone a bit overboard. But not yet. sheâs still too young, sheâd freak out.
Palmer didnât skimp on the praise, âSuch a good girl.â
Imperial West Hospital
In Ashlynâs hospital room, Sienna shifted her feet, which had been rooted to the spot for a solid two hours, as she watched Ashlyn dozing off.
Chapter 63
Bright and early, she got summoned without a peep, just to stand there like a statue!
Whenever Ashlyn was feeling off, Sienna got the brunt of it. She was pretty much used to it by
now.
âSienna, when did you get here? Did I ask for you?â
Sienna was puzzled. What new scheme had Ashlyn cooked up to mess with her this time?
âAshlyn, you called me bright and early wanting some homemade chicken soup and told me to bring it to you.â
The soup was right next to Ashlyn, wafting its tempting scent, enough to make anyoneâs mouth
water.
Ashlyn looked baffled, having completely forgotten she had summoned Sienna over. âOh, hand
it over.â
Sienna took the soup, ready to feed Ashlyn, but Ashlynâs hand shot out, knocking the bowl from Siennaâs grip, and it crashed to the floor!
âGet out! Youâre trying to poison me! Thereâs poison in the food. Iâm calling the cops!â
