CARLYLEâS POV
The next day dawned, casting a new light upon the packâs territory as I and Sidonnie made our way to Sidonnieâs quarters to see Mason. The events of the previous night weighed heavily on our minds, and that has caused us to forget all about Mason all through.
âI trust youâve sent the message as instructed?â I asked Donald through the mind link.
âYes, I did. Letâs hope Rex receives it soon.â He replied.
âGood! Mind you, we need to keep what happened last night between us for now. We donât want to cause
unnecessary panic among the pack.â
âSure, thatâs the best thing. I was about to say that as well.â He said and I stopped the conversation with him, focusing on Sidonnie who was by my side as we progressed to her quarters. I knew from her expression tat she was really worried.
âLetâs focus on Mason for now. Weâll deal with the rest when the time comes.â I placed my hand on Sidonnieâs shoulder assuringly and she flashed me a smile like she didnât care about whatever happens but I saw right through her.
Together, we entered her quarters, our footsteps echoing softly in the silence of the morning mingling with the gentle hum of activity as maids bustled about, tending to their tasks. Each maid we passed offered a respectful nod or curtsy, acknowledging Sidonnieâs new position as their Luna.
âGood morning, Luna.â The first maid bowed respectfully.
âGood morning.â Sidonnie replied and that was how she replied every other maid we met.
good to see the maids carrying on as usual, Itâs a sign of their acknowledgement.â I whispered to her.
Sidonnie nodded in agreement, but uttered something different from what I was expecting from her.
âI hope theyâre not just faking it.â She said and I understood how that came about. The questions about her worth to be Moon Shadowâs Luna was really frequent before the elders finally agreed. The maids werenât left out as they all gossiped about her then.

Getting to Sidonnieâs quarters, Mason rushed into his room as soon as he noticed out presence, his small figure disappearing behind the door as he instructed the maids to keep everyone out and lock the door tightly. His words were filled with frustration and anger, leaving Sidonnie and I concerned.
Turning to the maid attending to Mason, Sidonnie sought answers, her concern evident in every line of her face.
âWhatâs wrong with Mason? Why is he so upset?â
âHe fell asleep very late last night, Luna. And when he woke up, he was very angry. He wouldnât talk to any of us, and itâs been difficult to care for him overnight. I wonât deceive you, Luna. Even, the way he slept was a miracle indeed. It was hell.â
My heart sank at the maidâs words as my worry for Mason grew with each passing moment.
âThank you. Iâll take it from here.â
âAlright, Luna. Should I bring his meal?â
âHe hasnât eaten?â Sidonnie asked, surprised
âNo, he hasnât. Since yesterday evening, he has refused to touch his food and all attempts to feed him proved abortive.â
âFine! Bring his meal.â Sidonnie instructed after we listened to the maid.
The maid nodded in understanding, grateful for Sidonnieâs intervention. As we walked closer to the Masonâs room door, Donnie prepared herself to face his anger, knowing that she must do whatever it took to ease his anger.
Sidonnie and I stood outside Masonâs door, knocking gently, calling out to Mason in the hopes of getting a response.
âMason, itâs mum and dad? Can we come in?â
Silence greeted our pleas. The only sound that replied us was the muf fled echo of our voices against the closed door. Sidonnieâs brow furrowed with concern as she exchanged a worried glance with me.

But still, there was no response, leaving us feeling helpless and unsure of how to proceed. With a heavy sigh, I placed a reassuring hand on Sidonnieâs shoulder, offering her a comforting squeeze.
âPerhaps we should give him some time, Donnie. Heâll come to us when heâs ready.â I suggested.
Just when we were about to leave, Masonâs voice broke the silence, as he spoke with hurt and frustration.
âYou donât need to see me. Just leave me alone!â

Donnie felt pained at Masonâs words, the pain evident in every syllable. Stepping closer to the door, I spoke softly.
âMason, please, let us in. We want to talk to you.â
Masonâs silence was deafening, but I refused to give up. I pressed on, pleading.
âWhatâs wrong, son? Why are you so upset?â I asked, more or less like a query.
And then, finally, Masonâs voice broke through the barrier of silence, his words raw with emotion as I heard his so bs whike tears streamed down his cheeks.
âYou ignored me yesterday! You didnât play with me at all. You only cared about yourselves after the wedding!â
My heart shattered at his Masonâs words, he must have been expecting us all night but we couldnât show up. We werenât there when he needed us the most.
âMason, Iâm so sorry. Something unexpected came up, but we didnât mean to ignore you. Please, believe us.â I explained, hoping to receive a positive response from him, but there was none.
âPlease, Mason, open the door. Let us talk to you. We love you, and we want to make things right.â
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Masonâs voice came through, as he instructed the stand in maid inside with him to open the door.
âOpen the door for them, Millie.â
With a click, the door unlocked, swinging open to reveal Masonâs tear-stained face. Sidonnie and I walked inside,

He was still in tears, his small frame wracked with s obs. Desperate to comfort him, we tried to persuade him to stop crying, but our efforts seemed to only make things worse.
âMason, please donât cry.
Everything will be okay.â Sidonnie cooed but it had no desired effect on him.
Masonâs tears only intensified at my words, his cries echoing off the walls of his room. Soon, I began to get frustrated by his attitude. What was he trying to prove? Several pleas, he didnât want them, then what did he
want?
âCrying wonât solve anything, Mason. You need to learn to be strong, like a man.â I tried to reason with him, holding my anger in so I wouldnât lash out at him.
Masonâs so bs only seem to grow louder at my words, his tear-stained face filled with confusion and hurt. And then, in a moment of clarity, he spoke up.
âBut Iâm not a man yet, Daddy.â
My heart ski pped a beat at my sonâs words, as my frustration melted away as I realized the weight of what he said. Turning to Sidonnie, I glanced at her briefly before responding.
âWho told u
that, Mason?â
âMy teacher at the pack academy. He said weâre all kids and shouldnât do things that are meant for adults.â Masonâs response was immediate, as he replied innocently.
I couldnât help but chuckle at Masonâs earnestness. Turning back to Mason, I offered him a reassuring smile.
âYour teacher is right, Mason. But youâre different. Youâre a young Alpha, and that means you have to learn to be strong, even when things are tough.â
As my words sank in, Masonâs tears began to subside.
âDo you understand me, Mason?â I stared directly at his face as he nodded. âIf you continue to be a crybaby, you wonât see my very well like you do now.â
Mason remained silent, his gaze fixed on Sidonnie. With his look, it was obvious what he wanted. I had been the one doing the talking and cooing while Sidonnie only looked on. Obviously he wanted something from her too.

Sensing his need for comfort, Donnie gently lifted him up, cradling him in her arms as she kissed his forehead.
âIâm sorry, Mason. I didnât mean to ignore you. Weâll make it up to you, I promise.â Her voice was soft and soothing.
Masonâs anger slowly melted away as he leaned into her embrace. With a shaky breath, he made a request.
âPromise youâll let me sleep with you both tonight in daddyâs bedroom?â He exchanged glances between I and his mother.

I and Sidonnie chuckled at his attitude and without hesitation, we nodded in agreement, knowing that nothing was more important than comforting our child.
âOf course, Mason. Weâll all sleep together tonight.â
Immediately, his face lit up with relief, his tears replaced by a smile as he descended from his bed, his small figure darting to a corner of the room. With a triumphant grin, he retrieved a drawing from its hiding place, proudly presenting it to us.
âHere, Mummy, Daddy. I made this for you. Itâs my gift for your wedding yesterday.â
âThanks, Mason. Thatâs thoughtful of you.â
With a warm hug, we thanked Mason for his gift. That way, he told us several tales about the previous days up till the wedding day and we laughed at his little demonstrations..
Till midday, we spent it together, playing games with him and I made use of the chance to evaluate how far he was in his studies.

Then, Donald mind linked me when it was almost when it was late afternoon.
âRex is here.â He said.
