Chapter 12

11 - Sarah

La Mafia González

Lorenzo

"Kill them," I order one of my men. I have no use for useless shits. The person who hired them played it very well. She didn't tell them whom they were robbing, but they are the ones to blame. How the fuck could they not ask? How have they not asked for her name? Or the mention of money takes all the little cells left in the brain?

I go to my temporary office, the one I will let go after I take over my father's title. He will soon hand over everything to me and will officially retire. I am not going to lie, I am a little bit anxious about doing this alone, but luckily for me, I have Sam and Johnny.

Speaking of them, I find them waiting for me in my room while eating pizza.

"Pizza in my fucking office?"

"Relax, you're moving soon, so why not?" Johnny replies as he puts the whole slice of pizza in his mouth. How did it fit? Don't ask.

"I don't know how you're going to be a father," I say, shaking my head.

"Don't scare me, dude!" Johnny whines, dropping the next slice he was about to eat.

"Anyways, today Sarah is coming," Sam points out.

"Right, I forgot. Do you know when her plane will land?" I ask, looking at Sam and ignoring Johnny who's sulking right now, imagining himself being a father.

"Your mother told me it will land at 9 PM."

"Okay, so in an hour. I'll call Sophia to see if she wants to come."

I take my phone out and dial my sister's number. It takes three rings for her to pick up.

"Yes, Lorenzo?"

"Hey, do you want to come with us to the airport to get Sarah?"

"Yes, of course. Pick me up when you leave, and who are "we?"

"Sam, Johnny, and I."

"Gosh, fine."

"Why?" I ask.

"They're annoying."

I laugh out loud before hanging up. Sam and Johnny look weirdly at me before I tell them what she told me. As usual, Johnny speaks up and defends himself. Such a whiny bitch.

We drive to the house and pick Sophia up. Johnny asked Cassie if she wanted to come, but she said no. It's not like she knows Sarah or anything.

We drive to the airport and wait for Sarah to come out. It was empty, thankfully.

"I am so excited! We haven't seen her in a while," Sophia says.

"You didn't do that when I came back," I reply with a frown, earning a glare.

"You're lucky that I even remembered you at all."

"Oh, shut up."

Sarah finally comes out and the whole airport heard Sophia's screams and squeals. They hug each other for a couple of minutes, leaving us standing in boredom. Sarah finally walks to me and hugs me.

"Good to see you, brother."

"Don't be so formal," I say, rolling my eyes.

She ignores me and greets Sam and Johnny. "How are my little shits." She grins as she looks at them from head to toe.

"Shut up," Johnny says, rolling his eyes.

"We have missed you, Sarah," Sam says.

"Me too. It's good to be back."

We go back to the car and drive home.

"So, any new things happened while I was gone?" Sarah asks.

"Not really. Well, other than Valeria living with us," Sophia replies.

"Valeria the maid you told me about?" Sarah asks.

"Well, yeah, but she's more than a maid, you know."

"Yeah, yeah, I remember you telling me how she's your friend, but you're not hers."

"I am, but she keeps calling me Ms. Sophia. Thank god she stopped."

"Maybe she's just shy," Sam comments, earning a glare from the girls.

"We are talking," Sophia says, pointing at Sarah and herself, shutting him up.

I suppress a laugh and try hard not to let it out, but Johnny has no manners.

"Shut up," Sarah tells Johnny, making him scowl.

"Oh, and yes, Johnny knocked a girl up and she's living with us as well," Sophia says, making us all laugh.

"Oh my god, Johnny you're going to be a father?" Sarah grins.

"Can everyone stop reminding me?!" Johnny whines for the millionth time.

"Oh god, I have content to tease you about for the next nine months!" Sarah excitedly says.

We arrive at the house. I park the car and get Sarah's two suitcases out. My mother and father are already standing by the door to greet their daughter who hasn't been home in almost two years.

"Sarah!" My mother hugs Sarah as tears run down her face.

"Hey, mom. Don't cry."

"I have missed you."

"Me too, but we saw each other last month," Sarah replies, earning a faux slap on her arm from our mother.

"Still, I have missed my baby."

"It's my turn now," my father says, grabbing Sarah's arm gently and hugging her.

We all go inside and I make sure to tell Sam to get more men from the warehouse to guard. I need to increase security, especially when there's someone after my family whom I haven't found yet.

We all sit in the living room and I don't see Valeria anywhere. I know she doesn't work at night, but I expected her to be here when my sister arrives.

Before my thoughts could get any more accusatory, Valeria walks in holding a tray of Turkish coffee.

My family loves drinking Turkish coffee, especially my parents.

"Hello, welcome home, Ms. Sarah," Valeria nervously greets Sarah, earning a smile from my sister.

"Thank you, Valeria, and you can call me Sarah," Sarah replies before looking at my sister and communicating with their eyes, probably Sarah telling her that now she understands what Sophia said about not being Valeria's friend thing.

When Valeria finishes giving out the coffee, she turns around to leave but my mother stops her.

"Valeria, why don't you join us?"

Valeria starts to fidget her fingers nervously as she tries to find something to say. I know she wants to say no, but she is too shy to do so.

"Okay..." she replies with a timid smile before sitting next to Sam, far away from me.

We start talking about random stuff while Valeria remains silent.

"Have you found out anything new about the attackers?" My mother asks me.

I look at Valeria only to see her tense. I try to tell my mother not to talk about it right now, but she doesn't get it.

"What attack?" Sarah asks.

Shit.

"Nothing, Sarah. We'll talk later..." I say, trying to close the subject.

"Did someone attack the house? What the fuck happened?" Sarah starts to panic.

"Sarah! Language!" my father scolds her.

"Dad, what happened?"

"Some men attacked the house, that's all," he replies nonchalantly.

"Did anyone get hurt?" she asks with concern.

"No, don't worry, honey," my mom replies.

"Why no one told me about this? I have always known that this mafia thing is going to bring so many problems."

With that, everyone looks at Valeria. Sarah messed up because Valeria knows nothing about us being in the mafia, or that's what we thought.

Valeria notices us looking at her and comes back to her senses.
