Chapter 39 - Mischievous Twins

The Empress (GirlxGirl)

Third Person POV

Moloch stare at the door that leads to his masters' room. Adelaide had been experiencing labor pains since yesterday. As her servant, moloch can't help but to feel useless when his master is in a lot of pain.

"I don't want my only master to succumb to her death before she could achieved her goal. I'm sure everyone here has the same thought as mine. Maid Sarah, aren't you worried?" Sarah shake her head no.

"The countess is here for her. If something went wrong, the countess could use her power. Last time birth was dangerous. And yet the lady preveil. I'm sure she would survive this as well." Moloch and Sarah were surprised when they heard a loud cry of a new born baby.

The servants cheer as they welcomed a new member of the family. Moloch was about to enter the room when they heard another cry of a newborn baby. Sarah grabbed Moloch's shoulder.

"The lady was carrying twins all this time?!" Moloch shrugged.

"No- it seems to be—-," both Moloch and Sarah eyes widen when they heard yet another cry of a child. Sarah couldn't contain to her excitement anymore as she barged into the room where Adelaide was holding two new born baby while Astoria holding her another child in her arms.

"So it was triplets?!" Moloch said as he kneels on the floor.

"Forgive me, master. It seems I made a mistake when making the potion. I didn't expect it to be so omnipotent." Adelaide laughed.

"What are you talking about? The babies are healthy and I'm alright. Your potion works like a charm. Get off the floor and let the twins inside." Moloch nodded before leading the twins inside to meet their new siblings.

"So they are born." Astor leaned forward to his mother and look at his newborn siblings.

"They all look like mama." Astor said as he looks at the baby and Astoria back and forth.

"When can we play with them?" Astrid asked as she poke on the baby's cheek with her finger.

"When they are old enough to play. For now, they need a lot of sleep to grow." Astoria placed the baby in the crib before she did the same to the other two baby.

"Do they have a name?" Astrid asked her mothers'.

"And does have to start with the letter A?" Astor add.

"Why? Do you tel have a name ready?" Adelaide asked. The twins nodded.

"But we didn't prepare two extra name. We didn't know there would be three." Astor explained.

"Tell us the name you two picked out." Astoria smiled as she took a seat on the bed next to Adelaide.

"Wait, are they boys or girls?"

"Two boys and a girl." Adelaide said as she rested her head on Astoria's shoulder. Astor and Astrid hummed as they in a deep thoughts.

"Astra for our baby sister. And what about Aeron and Archer for our baby brothers?" The couple hummed before they look at each other with a smile.

"We love that name."

A few months later,

"Astor, our little siblings are sleeping again today. When will they be big enough to play with us?" Astrid asked as she look over the crib.

"When they grew. What are the two of you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be training?" Adelaide walks into the room just to see her twins looking into the baby crib.

"Mom. Is it true that one of the baby is blind?" Adelaide made her way towards the twins and said yes.

"Why? Are you embarrassed to have a blind sister?" The twins shake their head no.

"Teacher Moloch said it's because her power had manifested days after her birth. What kind of power does Astra has, mom?" Adelaide sighed mentally.

"To see the past and the future. That power took her eye sight as payment." Adelaide watched as the twins touches the babies cheek.

"Astor, Astrid- can you promise me that in the future, as the oldest, you must protect your siblings at all cost. Can you do that?" Astor and Astrid immediately nodded their head.

"Of course we will. Mama said as the oldest, we have to show them the right path. To protect and to care is our job as the oldest." Adelaide smiled.

"Good. It's good that you listened to mama's advice. But tell me- why is it hard for you teo to listen to mine?" The twins gave Adelaide a toothy smile.

"Well, mama listen to our concerns while you would yell immediately before hearing what we have to say." Adelaide hummed.

"That's a valid reason. But I am still your mother. So please listen to my words as well." The twins nodded.

"Also, please behave for tomorrow's banquet. So more of your silly little games. Do not mess with the nobles. If you two ignore my warning again, you two will be spending your holidays with your grandfather." The twins look at each other with horror.

The next day,

Astor and Astrid stood behind their mothers' as they wait for their time to walk into the banquet hall. Adelaide gave her twins one last look before she did the same to Astoria.

"Astor, Astrid, please behave. Remember what I said yesterday." The twins nodded.

"Good. Now, let's meet our new subjects." Adelaide smiled before the herald opens the door, leading towards the banquet hall.

It's been six years since the fall of Tempesr and yet the hostility between Adelaide with the nobles still remains. Some nobles believe that what she did will anger the Gods but for Adelaide, angering the God are also part of her plan to conquer the land that once betrayed her.

Adelaide smirked as the guests gasped at the sudden appearance from the high pope.

"You told the pope to come into the hall right after our appearance just to see their reaction, right? So, what do you think?" Astoria's question made Adelaide hummed her respond.

"Something is missing. I just don't quite know what it is that is causing this uneasiness in me. The twins aren't even doing anything-" both Astoria and Adelaide heard a loud exploding sound outside of the hall.

"Oh no! Mom, we can explained! This wasn't our intention." Adelaide remained calm as the twins began to panic.

"I'm sure the knights be able to subdue whatever it is rampaging outside. But, just to make sure, it doesn't involve summoning a demon, right?" The twins shake their head no.

"It's a dragon!" Astor glared at Astrid when she accidentally told their mother about their little experiment.

"Astrid!" Astrid covered her mouth before apologising.

"To think the two of you even have the mana to summoned a dragon is beyond me. Luckily there is a lot of our guests here right now. If not, I would have punish you two right here, right now!" Adelaide said with a smile on her face.

The twins gulped down the lump in their throat before apologising again.

"What kind of dragon is it?" Astoria asked.

"We have no idea but the dragon talks. He said his name was —- Draco!" Astoria's eyes widen.

"Draco?! As in the king of all dragons?! This is bad." Adelaide gave Astoria a nod to settled this matter while she continue to entertain the guests. The twins, however—

"Are we in deep trouble?" Astor asked.

"I think so. It seems mom is angry at us. Astrid look!" Astor pointed at the window.

"Is that mama riding on the dragon's back?!" The twins were at awe seeing their mother subduing a dragon with ease.

"I thought teacher Moloch said the seal is one of the strongest among demon arts. So how did the dragon escaped?" Astor asked his sister.

Astrid shake her head no.

"It's best for us to  stay low for now. We can deal with mama but we can't deal with mom's wrath. There is so much we can do to ease her anger. For now, let's focus on mastering the art of alchemy. Who knows we could bring back the dead to life." Astrid offered her hand to Astor.

"I don't quite understand what grandfather meant when he said he wants us be the the future of the empire. But if it means we can do whatever we want, let's try to go beyond his expectations. Didn't mom said she wants to dominate the sea trade route?" Astrid nodded.

"Didn't we made a contract with a demon who controls the sea?" Astrid nodded once again.

"And didn't the sea demon said we can asked for anything since we released her from her sealed? Let's give the sea to mama to ease her anger since we summoned that dragon." Astrid nodded with a smile.

"This is why you're the oldest! It didnt occur to me that we could do that! Mom will be so happy." The twins were overjoyed by their own thoughts.

Little did they know the outcome of such wish would garner more attention to them than anything they've done before.
