Chapter 1

Marrying Your Own Mind

Unification of the Mind

Humanity is at a point in history where we must decide whether we are working towards good or evil. Accepting that our actions have consequences is the first step. Our actions have consequences upon our minds, both by our own doing, and because of the feedback from our environment. It is through reflection that we may transcend, not through ignorance. Reflection can only happen if we unify with our minds, by conscious inclusion of the parts of ourselves that cause our actions. Unification happens when reflection is a form of relationship, not just of opinion. Allow your mind to communicate, and you will be free to listen to its true value.

We are all worthy of love. We are absolutely worthy of love, because we are capable of love. Our humanity is caused by love, we are social beings. It is the fact that we are human that can allow us all to be proud, despite everything that people have done to hurt each other. It is in our power to love, because we are human. We are free to speak to each other in ways that celebrate our humanity. We are free to live, we are free to have lives that belong to us. God has given us all the power to wield this world, despite its power over us.

One's human body is their human mind. Marrying the body is an act of gratitude to the mind, because we experience the body through the mind. Marrying the body is an act of care, by acknowledging the needs of the mind. It is the needs of our lover that we marry, not just a perception of them, but a conception of them. Unification with a lover both embraces their individual experience of need, and enacts the conception of a shared life within two individuals. It is an act of service to perceive someone, and it is through understanding that we interact with others. Understanding someone properly is an act of validation for them, because to understand them we must acknowledge that their needs are not only an experience for them. We can see that the needs of our own minds drive our actions, and therefore know that caring for our partner is co-creation of the life they actually live inside. The way we treat our own needs determines the conception of our actions.

Unification of the mind within oneself is the unification of parts. The parts of oneself that resist unification are contradictory to the purposes of one's own mind. Having contradictory purposes is not necessarily bad, but scientifically suppresses action. Neurotransmitters compete to inhibit or encourage one another. One must be free to understand what these contradictory purposes relate to, so as to find clarity within them. Understanding oneself through need can allow us to validate these parts and explore their creativity. The purpose of a resistant part of the mind may be to free oneself, let's say from responsibility. The responsibility one may need to free oneself from could be to capitalism, to competition. If one acknowledges their need for purpose outside of competition, they can release their responsibility to be in a capitalist mindset. This does not negate the responsibility one has to their family, it is a belief that can belong within other beliefs that are responsible, therefore releasing resistance while integrating the creativity of the mind.

Our needs construct our perception of reality, for we would do nothing without need. It is need that defines our actions, and our perceptions are actions of navigation. We follow a path through reality, our thoughts determined by the journey we follow. When we allow ourselves to have a journey with the mind rather than only because of the mind, we can discover the depth of meaning outside of ourselves, too. It is through the experience of meaning that we can grasp the importance of reality.

Marrying the mind means marrying the intentions of the mind, manifesting your intentions purposefully. Embodying those intentions is being authentic and true to the mind. Fulfilling the intentions of the mind does not necessarily mean being in control of your entire life. It is never all about you. Understanding the mind means understanding that the mind is affected by the environment. Being authentic within experiences of the environment means reflecting upon them, not just mirroring them. That is a challenging thing to learn how to do, I have not mastered it yet. Through acknowledgement of our empathy for the meaning of the life of humanity and nature that we interact with, we may discover that the empathy is intentional. Mirroring is an act of trying to belong within the environment, a strong natural impulse. However, the deeper the empathy we have the more intentional it is. Compassion is an action.
