Chapter 18

Belladonna

Axel

It took over a week before Spencer was able to leave the room. None of us pushed her. She had parents, my family and our friends to help her through it. As much as we could, of course, nobody could ever fully understand what she had gone through. It took another week for her to leave the house. And almost a month before she was ready to face the people who killed our son, who almost killed her. We had forced them to stay in their wolf form so they couldn't heal their legs properly. They turned back a few days back with their legs healed in the wrong position. Even if they got their legs fixed by a doctor, their wolves would never be able to run.

Now Spencer, Idris, my father, my brother and I were sitting in my office as we discussed what we would do with them. I wanted to rip their throats or hearts out and be done with it. Although I wouldn't mind giving Marianne a slow and painful death. In the time that passed since we saved Spencer, it took everything in me to keep Astrix back. To keep him from going to the cells and clawing them into pieces.

"We want it to be your decision, Spence," I said quietly, stroking her hair as she sat in my lap. "We already talked to Steven's pack and all the others across the country. They will agree with whatever decision we make."

"What would you have done if you could choose?" She asked everyone in the room.

"Kill them." We all said in unison, and I saw the anger of what they did still linger in their eyes and stiff form.

"I wanted to kill them from the moment I saw you. I'm having a hard time keeping Astrix at bay for not going down there and doing just that."

She closed her eyes, taking in a few steady breaths. "We banished them once and they didn't give up. They waited years to attack me, to keep me and Axel apart. To ruin our lives. Steven and Eveline killed Adeline. They almost killed me." Her hand trembled as she touched her flat stomach. "Marianne purposely killed our baby. They are insane and they will not stop. They will want to get back at us. Maybe at the whole pack now. We can't endanger them."

My heart filled with love for my wife, my Luna. Because she didn't just think about what they did to her, but my mother and the safety of our pack. She was meant to be beside me.

"I want them to pay. I want us to live a peaceful, safe and happy life." She looked everyone in the eye then. "I want them -" She locked eyes with me. "Dead."

"How do you want it to happen, my Luna?" Idris asked.

"They have been suffering in pain for the past weeks, yes? Because of their broken legs." Idris nodded. "Then I don't care how it happens. You four can choose how to end their lives. But I do want Steven to be killed by one of his own poisons."

"Do you want to be there when we do it?" I asked her.

She shook her head. "No. They have taken enough from me already. I don't want them to see how broken I am. How they managed to break me."

I wrapped my arms around her, guiding her head to my shoulder. "You are not broken, baby. You are strong and fierce. You are loyal and protective. You are meant to be our Luna, to be right by my side. They can't break you. You are going through an awful time right now, but I know you will get better. Because I know you, Spence. You are the strongest person I know." I kissed her temple. She clutched my shirt tighter in her hands. She took in a few trembling breaths before tilting her head.

"I want it done by tonight. And I don't want them buried anywhere near here."

"We can do that." My father said. "Do we need to call someone to stay with you?"

"I'll be fine. Kai has been locked up for too long, so I'll probably let her out for a nice long run." She stood up, placing a kiss on my cheek. "I'll see you soon."

"Call for me when you need anything."

"I will." She said softly before she exited the room.

I stood and turned to my family, my expression hard. "Let's get this over with. I don't want them here any longer."

Half an hour later, we arrived at the cells. We could hear the painful cries of the two women that almost took everything from me. I couldn't care less that they were in pain. My father stepped up next to me.

"I want to handle Eveline."

I nodded. "Marianne is all mine." I said as Marianne's cell appeared.

"Benjamin and I will handle Steven." Idris said. And he and my brother went to the last cell.

My father and I put our foreheads together. "Today we will end this." We said. Then we parted ways.

I stepped up to Marianne's cell. I saw her on the cold stone floor, her legs twisted in the wrong direction. With every movement she whimpered. I opened the cell and crouched in front of her. My lips curled back to show her my wolf teeth.

"That looks like it hurts."

"You did this to me. My wolf is never going to be able to run again."

I scratched my chin. "That's not going to be a problem. Your wolf is never going to be out again."

"W-what?" She stammered. "You would take my wolf away from me? That's - that's treason."

"That is exactly what you did to Spencer. Before doing so much worse. You are a murderer just like your aunt. But that's not what I meant. Your wolf is not leaving this cell, and neither are you. Not alive anyway."

"You - you wouldn't kill me. I was your wife. You loved me."

I barked out a laugh. Fury burning through my veins. "I never loved you, you bitch. My heart always belonged to Spencer. Even your poisoning couldn't stop that. I never even liked you. And what you did to Spencer, to my family... I'll make sure you never be able to hurt anyone again."

"Make it quick." She said with pleading eyes. "Please."

I cocked my head. Astrix was half out. My claws dug into the stones; my teeth scratched my lip. "Quick? Like you and Eveline wanted to give Spencer a quick death? Or how you wanted to give my pup a quick death. They held on for so long, but only one survived. And the other will live with that for the rest of her life. This won't be quick. Not at all." I said before my claws tore open half of her face.

I didn't know how long it went on. My claws, shirt, my face; everything was drenched in her blood. She had bled out before I ripped her heart out of her chest. When I stepped out, my father, brother and Beta were already waiting for me.

Idris and Benjamin looked fine, but they did have bruised knuckles that were already starting to heal. My father looked much like me, covered in blood. I raised an eyebrow at my brother and Beta.

Idris shrugged. "We gave him a little beatdown before forcing the poison down his throat."

I nodded. I expected as much. I expected worse actually. I felt their fury and hatred towards them. For what they did to Spencer. What they tried to do. My father cleaned a hand on a clean spot on his shirt.

"I avenged your mother." He said looking at me and Benjamin. "And took my time with it."

My brother, father and I came together in a hug as we clung to each other.

"I'll take care of the bodies. None of you should deal with that." Idris said, clapping my back. "Benji, why don't you go to the house and see if Spencer is back from her run. You two better shower at my place and take a change of clothes of mine. You don't want her to see you like that."

I leaned my head against Idris'. "Thank you, for everything. For being there for her when I couldn't."

"Always, Alpha."

That's when we parted ways again. Idris went to dispose of the bodies somewhere. Benjamin went home to check on Spencer and my father and I wanted to clean ourselves.

When I came out of the shower, blood-free. I mind-linked Spencer. Are you home, baby?

Yes, I came back just when Benji stepped into the house. We're watching a movie right now. When are you back?

Five minutes.

Good. She halted for a moment. Is it done?

Yes. Idris is going to take care of them.

She was silent again for a long moment. Come home, love.

After that, Spencer and I took some time off. Idris and my father took over pack responsibilities while we went travelling. Some might say it was irresponsible of me to leave my pack for three months. But it was what Spencer needed, what I needed. To heal, to find each other again. We stayed in Europe for a month, then a month in Africa before finishing our journey with a month in Oceania. And when we came back, the pack was still standing. My father and my Beta did an awesome job running the place. When we reunited with everyone, Idris didn't let Spencer go for the whole night, much to the amusement of our friends. Over those three months, we started healing. But it would take a while to fully heal, if ever. But we found each other again and I knew as long as I had her by my side, things could only get better.

Eight years later

Spencer

"Good morning, handsome." I said as I peppered his neck with kisses. As he woke with my body pressed against his, he hardened instantly. He groaned as I rolled my hips.

"You evil little wolf." He muttered before he claimed my lips. "Don't start anything you can't finish."

"Who says I can't finish this." I rolled my hips again. He bit the crook of my neck as his fingers dug into my hips.

"You know why -" Then suddenly the door burst open, and someone squealed.

"Mommy! Daddy. Uncle Benji baked smiley face pancakes." Our daughter screamed excitedly. She was a mini-me but with Axel's hair. I looked down at him, he was grinning up at me.

"Told you so."

I pursed my lips at him before kissing him softly and lying down next to him. "Good morning, sweetheart," I said as she climbed in between us. "I thought Uncle Idris was going to make waffles?"

"He tried, but they burned."

I laughed and Axel joined me. Every time Idris tried to bake something, it always burned. Deacon was more of the baker of the two.

"Auntie Ellen said to wake you up. Because it's family day!" She said, clasping her father's hand between her two tiny ones. Ellen was Benjamin's wife and Mate. They met five years ago.

"Are Grandpa Andrew and Grannie Minnie here already?"

"Everyone is here. We are all waiting for you two sleepy heads." She giggled. She let go of Axel's hand and put both of her tiny hands on my overlarge tummy giving it a kiss. "When does he get here?"

"Just a few more weeks, sweetie." Axel answered, his hand coming over to cradle my belly too.

He looked at me. And my heart still skipped a beat from the love that radiated from him. It took us almost four years before I was ready to start again. And now we had a four-year-old daughter and a son on the way. Axel had been nothing but perfect in those eight years. Many times, I felt like I didn't deserve him. He would plan romantic dates or getaways, he would bring me gifts. But most importantly, he knew me through and through. He noticed the signs when I was going to have a bad day. A day where I wasn't able to come out of bed. And he just stayed with me. Threw our calendar and appointments in the trash and held me for hours on end.

"Why don't you head downstairs? While mummy and I get ready." He kissed the top of her head. Her hair was braided in a crown on top. Probably Ellen's doing. I smiled at that.

"Okay." She said and hurried out of the room.

Axel slipped out of bed before holding out his arms to help me up. With my large belly, it wasn't as easy anymore to get out of bed without looking like a lunatic. When I stood up, he held me close. His hand cupped my cheek, his fingers going into my hair.

"I love you so much." He said.

"I love you too." I kissed him softly. "I've never been happier, Axel. You make me want to live." He wiped a tear away that ran down my cheek and kissed me as he held me close to his chest. I pulled back and grinned a little. "And later we're going to finish what I started." I licked my lips as his eyes darkened.

He kneeled down and whispered to my belly. "Your mummy has a dirty mind, son."

I laughed and pushed his shoulder. He fell on his ass and looked up to me. With nothing but love and admiration. And even after all those years, it never wavered, and it still made my heart speed up. Gods, how I loved this man.

This was it! I hope you enjoyed it. It was my first time writing a werewolf story but I did enjoy writing it and that's the most important part. ;-)
