Chapter 414: 407: Stitch It Up
My Wife Is A Miracle Doctor In The 80s
Gu Ning gave him a warning glance and he dared not say another word.
âHe isâ¦â Tang Yuxin didnât know how to address the man.
âBaozi,â Gu Ning said lightly, and Tang Yuxin immediately had him sit down to examine his injury.
âWhat Baozi?â The man disagreed and said with a sly smile, âBeautiful ladyâ¦â He introduced himself, âMy surname is Bao, like Bao Qingtian. My name is Bao Shuai, 25 this year, not married, no bad habits.â
He was chattering away but no one was paying him any attention.
Tang Yuxin began to remove Gu Ningâs clothes, revealing his bloody wounds at his waist. Although the injury wasnât as dire as Baozi had described â a deep hole where his internal organs could be seen, when the injury was nonetheless severe.
The wound seemed to have affected the kidney.
She suddenly looked up at Gu Ning.
âWhat is it?â Gu Ning appeared more concerned about his wounds. His will to live had always been strong. He believed that injuries like this wouldnât kill him.
âUncle Gu, your kidney is damaged.â
Tang Yuxin rummaged in her backpack and took out her supplies.
Bao Shuai was surprised, âHeâs hurt his kidney?â
âYes,â Tang Yuxin nodded, then spoke seriously, âAlthough the injury isnât severe, one kidney function has been affected. He shouldnât donate kidney to anyone. Otherwise, if the remaining kidney has problems, heâll die.â
Tang Yuxin took everything she needed out of her bag and laid it on the ground.
She always had a serene expression, and nobody knew the complexities hidden in her eyes.
According to history, Gu Ningâs injury was inevitable. He shouldâve known he couldnât donate a kidney, yet he still did, and no one knew about this.@@novelbin@@
How much did this man love Zhang Xiaomei to the point that he was willing to risk his own life for her?
What a waste of good cabbage, ruined by Zhang Xiaomei, the lowly pig.
She emptied a lot of stuff onto the ground. She didnât bring much, but quite a few were for emergencies. She picked up a small bottle and poured its contents onto Gu Ningâs wound, causing Gu Ning to furrow his brow, while gripping his hand tightly.
Her medication seemed to cleanse his wound.
The injury was deep, with blood seeping out from time to time.
âUncle Gu, your wound needs to be stitched up. If not, the bleeding wonât stop,â even though the blood wasnât flowing fast, continuous bleeding could drain his body.
âDo it,â Gu Ning leaned against the tree with an expressionless face. This wasnât merely stitching a leaf or a piece of clothing; this was flesh.
âUncle Gu, I ran out of anesthetics.â
After searching for a while, Tang Yuxin remembered that she had forgotten to bring numbing agents.
âItâs alright. Stitch it up,â Gu Ning opened his eyes, reached out his hand, and gently touched Tang Yuxinâs tangled hair.
Tang Yuxin took out the surgical needle and thread, then pulled a Silver Needle from a needle pack. As soon as the needle went in, Gu Ning felt half his body go numb, but even so, he could feel the tension in his muscles as the needle threaded through his flesh, and the cold sweat dripping from his forehead.
Throughout the entire ordeal, he didnât make a single sound.
Tang Yuxin knew he was in pain, but she did not stop. Her stitches were always meticulous, even now. When she finished stitching his wound, she sprinkled herbal powder onto it to help with inflammation, pain and stopping the bleeding.
When Tang Yuxin used her sleeve to wipe the cold sweat off her forehead, Gu Ning closed his eyes, having fallen into unconsciousness.
When she was about to wake Gu Ning up, Bao Shuai shook his head, âLet him rest a bit. Heâs been dealing with these injuries for several days.â
Upon hearing that Gu Ning had been injured for several days, Tang Yuxin couldnât begin to imagine how a person could endure such pain for so long.
Helpless, Bao Shuai sat down, âWe came here for other reasons but stumbled upon a large drug trafficking gang who smuggle a substantial amount of drugs each year. We couldnât let them continue harming people. We underestimated them. Finding them in this vast forest is like finding a needle in a haystack. Weâve combed almost all of the perimeter and only a small part remains. If all goes well, we should be able to find them.â
âStay here with him, Iâll go find something to eat.â
Bao Shuai stood up. He used to worry about Gu Ning so he didnât dare to venture out too far. He was even more afraid that Gu Ning would bleed out, faint, and get eaten by the wild beasts found here.
Now that someone was here with Gu Ning, he could go and find something to eat. They could also regain some strength, and perhaps they might be able to raid the drug traffickersâ hideout next.
Tang Yuxin put her things back in her bag and held Gu Ningâs hand. Thank god, he doesnât have a fever. Injuries like this were highly susceptible to infection which could lead to fever. If that were to happen, not only would he be unable to carry out any mission, but getting out of the forest would also be a challenge.
She knew they would get out safely, but in the situation they were in, she couldnât help worrying. She was also afraid that her unexpected appearance might bring about unexpected outcomes.
She took some clothes out of her bag and used them as a pillow for Gu Ning. She then hugged her knees and sat by the side, aimlessly looking at the endless forest and the unconscious man beside her.
She could hear the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves⦠the distinctive scent of the area â the smell of damp soil, moist leaves, and unfamiliar animal scents.
She placed her hand on Gu Ningâs forehead. His temperature was normal. As long as they hung on and went back, a few days of good rest should see him recover. However, her lips tightly pressed together. His kidney had been damaged and even if he recovered, it couldnât function as optimally as before. This might not be apparent in his youth, as people generally only need one working kidney to fulfill physiological needs. But if he loses one, heâd follow the same path as his previous life.
