Chapter 435: 428 Why Do You Suggest?

“Good morning, Dr. He,” Tang Yuxin greeted the doctor.

“So you do remember me. I thought you had forgotten all about me,” Dr. He teased Tang Yuxin cheerfully. Of course, he was familiar with her, he was an orthopedic doctor and had interacted with Yuxin the most.

“Keep it low-key,” Yuxin pointed at the intern badge on her chest, “I’m just an intern now.”

“Understood,” Dr. He responded in a lowered voice, “Let’s go, student. I’ll take you to your mentor.”

Yuxin followed Dr. He’s pace, but the destination was not somewhere else but the office of the Chief, Zhu.

“Xiaotang, you’re here. You kept me waiting for a long time,” Chief Zhu came over and lightly tapped Yuxin’s shoulder.

“Well done, you seem very energetic. I saw you jogging this morning. Medical skills are one aspect, but physical fitness is also important. Our doctors at the hospital have too many complex surgeries to perform. Strengthen your body, and you’ll always be prepared.”

“Chief, could you please pat a bit lighter?” Yuxin responded with a bitter smile.

On her first day of internship, she started doing rounds with Chief Zhu and took note of each patient’s case, roughly understanding their condition and recovery status.

“Yuxin, take a look at this,” Chief Zhu pointed to a patient and asked.

Yuxin opened the patient’s file: a second arm fracture and a bone split.

She moved forward and gently touched the patient’s arm. It was indeed a second fracture, and the bone had not healed well. The patient looked extremely pained.

“Yuxin, would your bone-setting surgery work on him?” Chief Zhu asked Tang Yuxin.

Yuxin shook her head, “Every bone-setting surgery follows the same principle of fixing the bone. His case does not need special treatments; the best approach now is surgery.”

Upon hearing this, the patient’s face turned pale.

“What did you say?” the patient’s eyes sparked with fire at Yuxin’s response, “As long as I don’t have to undergo surgery, I’m fine with any other method.”

Yuxin closed the patient’s file in her hand, “If you choose not to have surgery, your bone will grow crooked, deforming your arm. Meanwhile, you’ll have to endure serious pain. Are you sure you can bear it?”

“The pain from surgery is different from this pain. Post-surgery pain subsides after a while, but this pain lasts indefinitely. Moreover, it’s your right hand,” Yuxin’s gaze circled around his right hand.

“Do you find it more convenient to use the toilet with your left hand or your right hand?”

At her blunt question, the male patient’s face reddened while Chief Zhu brought his hand to his mouth and coughed a few times. This child was quite straightforward.

“I want the doctor who treated Dr. Huang’s leg,” The patient suddenly became agitated. Dr. Huang’s flesh was almost crushed, but now he was up and about, “I don’t want you quacks, find that doctor for me.”

Yuxin hugged the patient’s file to her chest.

“I’m sorry, but my recommendation is surgery, just as the file indicates. Surgery is your only path to recovery.”

“Your recommendation?” The male patient narrowed his eyes, “Who are you to make recommendations? What are you?” His eyes bore into Yuxin and her ID badge, “You’re just an intern, why are you shouting at me? Chief Zhu, are there no doctors left in your hospital? You’re letting an intern yell at me?”

Yuxin felt wronged; she hadn’t shouted or raised her voice. Chief Zhu had asked her to give her opinion, and she did so without pushing the patient into surgery. Moreover, the patient had asked her about the consequences of not having the surgery, and she had simply told the truth. Should doctors must speak delicately and tell patients only what they want to hear? If so, they wouldn’t be doctors, they’d be public speakers.

Yuxin hid behind Chief Zhu, clutching the patient’s file, hoping he would shield her if the patient started to throw objects. Despite being a long-time doctor, Yuxin has been beaten up several times.

While she understood patients and their families’ stress and sorrow, it wasn’t fair to attack innocent doctors. They were just doctors, not fairies who could heal diseases instantly. Healing takes time, it can be long or short, and doesn’t guarantee success. Many didn’t hold on till the end, while others persisted till the end but still failed.

All these could not be foreseen by doctors.

Although being a doctor was high-risk, she chose to walk down this path. It wasn’t smooth and had plenty of bumps, but she loved her profession. Regardless of anything, she’ll persevere till the end of her life.

The male patient was still yelling hysterically, demanding for the doctor who treated Commander Huang. If not for that doctor, he wouldn’t have come here.

After hearing this, Yuxin seemed to understand something. Could it be that this person had some status?

Several doctors held him down and sedated him. Gradually, the male patient calmed down, but his eyes were still glaring fiercely, as if he intended to scare people to death just by staring.
