Chapter Two
TAINTED by TWINS (bxbxb)
It was a new day, and Lian Miller was having trouble getting anybody to listen to him. "Guys, we have to cover one chapter by today so we don't fall behind. Can youâdon't throw the book out of the window! Iâplease put her down before you get sexual assault allegations..."
Jonah looks back at Jade who was listening to music at the back of the class. With just their facial expressions, Jonah asked his twin to do something to help the teacher.
Why, I don't care about him? Jade rejects.
Jonah widens his eyes at Jade, I can't tell them to shut up, it'll damage my reputation. They're scared of you, just tell them to shut up!
Jade really doesn't want to attract attention so he looks at his phone, but Jonah threw paper at him with the words, "I'll pay your gas money for the week."
Jade slams his fist on the table, silencing everyone. "Ya'll shut the F*CK UP! I didn't come here to stay stupid and uneducated like y'all and depend on daddy's trust fund for the rest of my life. F*cking open a book and not your mouthsâespecially your d*mn legs, Tiffany. Talk about Stanley cups one more time and I'll shove one up that loose hole you sell to your daddy's friends for extra allowance."
"..." Tiffany hurriedly exits the room crying while nobody dared to make a sound.
"Poor girl, is she gonna be okay?" Lian looks genuinely concerned.
"Nobody cares about her... not her friends, not her parents, not her dog. The noisier they are, the less attention they get from their parents," Jade assures him with a smile. "Now talk faster so we can go to lunch early."
And this is why Jade Deveroux is heavily disliked or feared. Everyone barely made a sound, barely moved. Jonah looks proudly at his brother, who really doesn't care that no one likes him. Lian is looking at the infamous Jade Deveroux and smiles in appreciation for the silence, before politely telling everyone to open the book to a specific page.
Jonah is smitten by that smile. He has never seen a man so beautifully innocent before. While giving everyone time to read their chapters, Lian is caught yawning into his mouth.
"Didn't get any sleep, Mr. Miller?" Asks Jonah, leaning onto his table flirtatiously. Jade is watching with judgmental eyes from the back.
"Yeah, a bit tired, but..."
"It's my fault, you've been running around my mind. I volunteer as your pillow, then."
Girls' mouths hang low as the some of the guys choked on their own spit hearing that from the gorgeous Class President, Jonah Deveroux.
Lian awkwardly smiles and laughs it off, "Funny, Mr. Deveroux. I can see why a lot of girls fall for you."
Jonah grabbed his chest as if he was shot by the blinding beauty. His classmates doesn't seem to see it. To them, Lian is just a plain Chinese boy with feminine characteristics, he doesn't look attractive to them. But he is all that Jonah wants to even look at right now.
Jonah looks back at Jade and widens his eyes like a little fanboy. Jade just hung his jaw disgusted at his twin. The latter is straight.
But Jonah is relentless. The day after, he wore his best perfume for casting calls and went inside the classroom looking as clean and handsome as he is while Jade plopped at the back already snoring in his helmet.
Lian came in with an ordinary teacher's uniform yet taking Jonah's breath away with how he shyly smiles at him with cheekbones popping out and eyes the shape of half moons. "Good morning, class... let's proceed to the next lesson in the syllabus, yes?"
"What about our homework?" Jonah raised his hand, subtly flipping his hair.
"Jonah!" The class groaned. Lian looks at everyone, also having gone through the hopes of the teacher forgetting about homework when he was a student.
So he chuckles at them, "Don't worry class, you have until lunch time to finish it. Thank you for reminding me, Mr. Deveroux."
Jonah replied by making a heart with his arms over his head and smiling at Lian. Jade rolls his eyes at the little attention seeker. Looks like he's running to be President of Lian's heart, too.
Even at home. Something is happening to his twin, and Jade is worried about him. The boy couldn't sleep, rejected a Ralph Lauren photo shoot in New York all because he's on his laptop searching up Lian Miller in the middle of the night.
Even while Jade was masturbating, Johan barged into his bedroom. "Hack a Facebook account for me."
"Jesusâ! F*ck, Jonah!" Jade doesn't even bother covering himself, he's just pissed he got interrupted. "I'm not f*cking hacking Lian Miller's Facebook. Your ugly face is making my d*ck deflate."
"No, I don't want you to hack his account. I respect him too much for that. Hack his mom's. His profile is locked. He has 67 Facebook friends, all of which are family so I doubt he'll even accept my friend request. Please Jade, I need more pictures of him."
Jade cringes at his twin. "Interrupting me for this sh*t... hand me my laptop and some tissues. What, you need his birth certificate too?"
"No, but I managed to get his Biodata from the faculty room," Jonah says as Jade types away in his computer. "He's born in November, which means his parents f*cked in Valentine's Day. He's raised by a single mom though, since he only has one emergency contact. I might send her flowers in her work place to impress her this early on. By the way, she works for a magazine company..."
"Jonah..." Jade rolls his eyes, "Sit the f*ck down and stop talking. I don't need to know anything about your little rat. I'm sending his mom an email of a virus, and I'll get all her information by then."
"I love you so much, Jade."
"And I've never liked sharing a womb with you."
Days went by, and instead of Johan getting sick of watching Lian's awkward attempts at controlling the class, he just fell deeper in love.
"Yes, you can go to the restroom... uhh no, not in groupsâah, you're going anyway. Uhm... okay," Lian nods shyly as a group of girls walked out. "Could anyone please write a significant event that happened in 17th century England, any events? Uhm..."
Nobody cared, nobody was listening. All except for Jonah who is making Lian feel seen at least. "I can do it, Mr. Miller."
He fixed his hair before going to the board, making the girls swoon at his charming looks while the rest of the class is still noisy. Jade is observing his twin's never ending smile while looking into Lian's shy eyes.
"So..." Jonah didn't just write three significant events that happened in the 17th century. He made an entire timeline from the 15th to the 21st century, in bullet points. Lian stared, impressed. But at the last point, Jonah wrote something confusing.
August 2025 in Carvalle, 4th year Class A.
"What event is that, Mr. Deveroux?" The teacher asked, confused.
"It's when I saw the most beautiful man on the planet, the moment you came through that door."
"Oopâ!" / "Ooooooh!"
"Jonah, my love?!"
"That's kinda gay."
"Great, I have a chance then..."
Jonah casually returns the chalk and walks back to his seat while never taking his eyes off a very flustered Lian. But he wasn't squealing like the other girls are; he's embarrassed and finds the joke distasteful. Jonah may be using his sexuality against him and is making fun of him.
"Funny, Mr. Deveroux. The ladies are very impressed," Lian mumbles as he wipes that last bit off the board. But he saw Jade throw a whole notebook on his twins' head for that stupid stunt, which made Lian smile in appreciation once again. It's a fantasy, but Jade looks like he's always defending Lian.
After class, a couple of girls asked Jonah if they could treat him to lunch. Ever the gentleman he is, Jonah politely rejects them while the student teacher watches form his desk. "I have to eat with my brother," Jonah tells the girls.
"Oh... okay then." They never want to bother with Jade, so a mention of his name will make them leave him alone.
Jonah was the last person left inside the room, and as Class President, he was helping the teacher check his classmates' quizzes.
"Thank you for helping me, Mr. Deveroux," says the teacher, to get rid of the awkward silence. "You didn't really need to do this, but it's extra points for you."
Jonah's heart leaps at the awknowledgement. Countless of times he's heard it from a girl, but only now is he flattered. "Thanks... anything for a pretty fella."
"Huh?"
"Uhm... uhh, pretty... awesome. Yeah, I know it's not easy being a student teacher without the supervision of a real teacher. N-not that you're not a real teacher, I mean... uhh, a registered teacherâ"
"I know what you mean, Mr. Deveroux..." Lian avoids his eyes, flustered.
Jonah taking his eyes off the student teacher or else his flustered cheeks will expose him.
"I can understand your emo twin may not have a girlfriend, but I can't help but wonder why you don't have one. Every girl is constantly trying to get your attention."
"Not the lesbians..." Jonah joked, "I have someone I like. I haven't told them just yet."
"I can't imagine why you won't tell her. If you get rejected early, it's easier to move on. Let it marinate without confessing, and it'll bother you until you do," says Lian while grading the papers.
"What about you, Mr Miller? Are you uhh... are you married? Or do you have a girlfriend? Someone you like?"
Lian looks up at Jonah with soft, shy eyes and a shy little smile. "I may... have feelings for someone. Small crush, it's no big deal."
"Who is it, can you give me a clue?" Jonah smiles at him with a dimple than can knock out five girls, but Lian's mind was somewhere else.
He was blushing. It was an adorable sight with his lips grinding to suppress a smile. "I shouldn't. There's no chance they will like me, anyway."
Neutral pronouns. "What's your type of person then?" Jonah asks, completely neglecting the papers he's supposed to check. "Maybe if you tell me, I'll be more confident in confessing to the one I like."
Lian shrugs as he looks down on the papers, "I'm a fan of romance literature... so I'm heavily attracted to complex characters. Those with a hard exterior, but deep down they care, they're soft. Those who look scary and act so tough, but inside he's soft... I think that's my..."
Lian just realized he failed to neutralize a word. He looks up at Jonah, shocked, but the boy had a big smile as if he didn't notice it. He probably didn't. "Uhm... yes, that kind of person is my type."
During lunchtime,
"So he is gay..." Jade confirms what Jonah just told him as they both are in the cafeteria. "You have a chance then, Jonah. Go seduce a teacher, get him arrested."
"He's just a year older, he's no teacher just yet and we're not kids. I'm gonna tell him," Jonah takes another bite of his bread. "I don't care if he likes someone else, I'm gonna prove that I'm better than whoever he likes."
"There you go again, running for President in someone's eyes. You dare run in those shoes?" Jade looks down at what he's wearing. "Tacky."
"Lay off the Air Forces, Jade."
