Evil Boys: Chapter 10
Evil Boys (Spine Ridge University)
âOh my God, I feel terrible,â Brooke says as she pops another pill.
âYou sure you wanna be here?â I ask. âYou could go lie in bed.â
âNo, Iâve got a test today,â she replies, groaning in pain.
âStill hungover?â Irina muses as she sits down on the picnic bench.
âI thought this shit would be over in a day, but I guess thatâs only for people whose bodies are normal,â Brooke laments, huddled over her bottle of water. âRemind me not to drink that much ever again.â
I giggle and take a bite out of my sandwich. âIâm sorry. If Iâd stayed around, I couldâve plucked the drinks out of your hand.â
âYou missed out on a whole lot of fun, Lana,â Irina says. âSome dude even came to ask us about you.â
I can barely swallow my sandwich. âWhat?â
âYeah, I mean, I donât know what his name was, but man, he looked sexy in that suit of his. And my hands were all over that.â Brooke holds her hand up high for Irina to clap. âFuck yeah. I shouldâve gotten his number.â
âWhat did he ask you?â I casually take another bite from my sandwich to avoid appearing too invested.
âOh, just if we were friends, if we were from the same sorority, and if he could see me more often,â Brooke muses, smiling like crazy.
But I know better.
That guy was trying to find out where I lived.
âWhat did you tell him?â I ask.
âWell, the truth, what else?â She shrugs.
âBut what if heâs a Phantom guy?â I ask.
âSo?â She takes a sip of her drink. âI donât care as long as heâs hot.â
âHe was hot, though,â Irina concurs.
âHey, babe.â A kiss on the hair alerts me to Jasonâs presence. âHow have your classes been going?â
âFine,â I reply as he sits down beside me. âYours?â
âFantastic. Couldnât be better.â
âSounds sarcastic,â Irina says.
âYou got any extra sandwiches?â Jason asks, avoiding the topic entirely. âIâm starving.â
âSo are you two dating now?â Brooke says, pointing at us both.
âDating?â Jason snorts. âWell, I mean, I would, but â¦â He tilts his head in my direction.
âWhat?â I scoff. âDonât look at me. I wasnât the one sucking off this clitty the other day.â I point at my crotch.
Brooke and Irina burst out into high shrieks and laughter.
âOh my God!â Brooke cheers.
âWhat?â Jasonâs brows furrow as he looks at me like Iâve lost my mind. âWhen?â
Now I make a face too. âAfter the party, when you tried to kiss me, half drunk, and we went upstairs.â
He keeps eyeing me like he has no clue what Iâm talking about.
âAfter you finished your shower,â I mutter.
Everyoneâs looking at me like theyâre waiting for the clue, but there is none.
âWhatever.â I take another bite of my sandwich. âYou were too drunk to remember anyway.â
âWell, if I got some pussy ⦠I consider that a win regardless,â Jason says, throwing out an arrogant laugh. âFriends with benefits is cool too.â
I finish my sandwich and get up. âTime for more classes. See you guys later.â
âBye, Lana!â Irina waves as I walk off.
I wave at everyone too, but when I turn around, the smile instantly disappears off my face. Something about that whole exchange just doesnât sit right with me. Why wouldnât Jason remember how he finally didnât just think of his own pleasure but mine too? Heâs always been a sex-obsessed maniac, and now he suddenly denies eating me out right after the party?
I shiver as a cold draft flows across campus, and I tie my scarf tighter around my neck.
But itâs not just the chill of the looming winter that makes me feel frigid.
Because I feel like, wherever I go, Iâm being watched.
Milo
I clutch the tree and glance at the girl walking closer and closer. My heart rate picks up with each step she takes.
God, if she is really that girl we met in that dirty house â¦
That vicious murderer â¦
This is going to be out-of-this-world amazing.
A grin spreads from ear to ear.
I canât believe itâs really her, that sheâs here out of all places. Crescent Vale City is huge, and to have her be a student here at Spine Ridge University is almost too good to be true.
But it is true.
Sheâs wearing that same red ribbon that girl was, and she walks with the same kind of swagger. Like she knows no one can touch her. And that kind of arrogance only comes with being a killer.
How many men has she destroyed before we met?
Itâs the kind of violence unusual in a girl, and itâs riling me up to no end.
âSo ⦠thatâs the girl whoâs been keeping you busy, huh?â
I glance over my shoulder. âBlaine ⦠Sneaking up on me again, I see.â
He folds his arms, a wicked smirk forming on his perfectly chiseled face. âIâm just doing the Lordâs work by keeping an eye on you.â
âI already regret telling you about her,â I say, rolling my eyes.
âToo late to take it back, Milo,â he says.
âHow do you always rope me into spilling all my secrets every time we drink?â I groan in dismay.
âTartarus trade secret,â he muses, planting a firm hand on my shoulder. âBut donât be a creep.â
âMe? A creep?â I laugh.
But he just stares at me with a lifted brow. âWe both know how you latch onto things.â
I frown. âNah, I never stalk people. Thatâs Kaiâs thing.â
âIâm not talking about stalking. I mean, clamping down on something and becoming thoroughly fixated.â He suddenly reaches into my pocket and fishes out my nunchucks. âLike these, for example.â
âHey, give those back!â
I try to snatch them away, but he holds them up high. That motherfucker is using his height against me.
âYou learn how to use nunchucks, and now youâre carrying them around everywhere,â he muses. âYou latch onto things ⦠only now itâs a girl.â
âYouâre the one who taught me,â I retort, and I jump up to steal back my nunchucks. âAnd this girl is not just a fun side project.â
âAll Iâm saying is ⦠be careful.â He grabs both my shoulders, leaning down to look me in the eyes. âIâm not your enemy, Milo. Iâm a friend who cares. Donât forget that.â
I nod. âDonât tell anyone.â
âWhat kind of a friend would tattle?â He winks. âAnyway, I have to go to class. Talk to you later?â
âYeah,â I say.
âAnd if you really want her that badly, why not just go talk to her?â
He turns and walks away with a casual wave, always with that same flair that makes me snort.
Well, if he gave me the go-ahead, maybe I should go for it.
The cold, crispy air waving through the leaves above me is my signal. But right as I step out from behind the tree, my shirt is pulled up to my neck. My fingers scratch at my neck as the fabric is choking me.
âAre you out of your goddamn mind?â
Kai pulls me behind the tree and shoves me into the trunk, and I groan with both pain and excitement. Because good God, he knows how to pack a punch. Too bad for him he doesnât swing that way, or I wouldâve let him get some.
âYou almost got me hard,â I groan, laughing.
He smacks the bark behind me. âThis isnât a joke, Milo.â
âI wasnât joking,â I muse.
He looks around for a moment to check if anyone is watching us.
âWhat were you thinking?â he asks. âHeading right for her?â
I shrug. Thatâs my problem. I usually donât think. At all.
Sometimes itâs a curse; sometimes itâs a blessing.
âWhat was your plan, anyway?â he scoffs, pointing at her. âJust walk up to her and be like âI know what you didâ?â
I smile. âYou make it sound like that movie. What was that name againâ¦?â I snap my fingers when it hits me. âI Know What You Did Lasââ
âShut up.â He grabs me by my collar and plants a hand over my mouth as his eyes leer beyond the tree at the girl walking by.
âYouâre already in that deep?â I muse when he finally removes his hand.
Kai rarely crushes on anyone. He normally shies away from human contact unless itâs to beat someone up for messing with his friends. Especially since the incident where he lost part of his sight.
âLook, she already knows we found her. Itâd be stupid to out ourselves now that we have the upper hand,â Kai says.
My brows furrow. âYou told her about us?â
âNo, she doesnât know our names.â
âBut she knows weâre on this campus,â I say.
âDoesnât matter,â he replies.
âYes, it does. And if sheâs a killer just like us, I want to get to know her.â
His face contorts. âWhat? Why? Fuck no.â
âWhat else do you want to do?â I ask, raising a brow. âKill her?â
âIâve thought about it,â he says through gritted teeth.
âBut instead, you licked her pussy raw. Got it.â
âHey, what I do is none of your business,â he says, pointing at me like it adds weight to his words.
But I see through him right away. âWrong. Sheâs seen all three of us there, and if she finds out youâre the one whoâs been paying her visits, sheâll know about me and Nathan. Weâre all in this together.â
He seems pissed that I mention it, but we both know Iâm right.
âYou want her,â I say. âAnd if youâre going to get some killer pussy, I want some too.â
His nostrils flare, rage firing up in his eyes. âFuck no.â
âWhat?â
He shakes his head. âYou canât have her.â
I snort. âSheâs not yours either. She has a boyfriend. I just saw him sit on that same bench.â
He squints, annoyed Iâd point it out. âLike I donât fucking know that.â
âIâm just saying ⦠if youâre gonna enjoy something that ainât yours, then let me feast too. Otherwise, whatâs the point? Whereâs the fun in me keeping a secret without having the benefits too?â
He mulls it over for a second as if it finally dawns on him that heâs put himself in a difficult position before he releases me again. âFine.â
I pat his chest. âGood choice, partner in crime.â A broad smile forms on my face. âSo when are you planning on ravaging her again?â
âWhat are you guys talking about?â
Kaiâs eyes widen at Nathanâs voice, and he casually tucks his hands into his pocket before turning around to face him. âClass. Money. The usual.â
âSpeaking of money â¦â he repeats, tucking his hands into his pockets. âWe still donât have enough.â
âWhat do you mean? We stole loads of stuff,â I say.
Kai smacks his hand in front of my mouth. âDo you have to be so loud all the time?â
Nathan lifts his mobile phone and shows us another text he got.
âAnother threat?â Kai asks.
âThey want more,â Nathan replies, the nerves on his face bulging. âItâs never gonna be enough.â He runs his fingers through his crisp blond hair. âWhat the fuck am I going to do?â
âWeâll fix this,â Kai says. âDonât give up.â
âYou know, weâre here for you,â I say.
âIf my fucking parents could have just done their job correctly,â Nathan grits, âI wouldnât be in this shit.â His fist balls. âI have to protect her. I donât fucking care what it takes. If I have to shoot a million more men, Iâll do it.â
âOkay, letâs do it, then,â I say.
Kai sighs, but he eventually agrees and nods.
âYou got any more of those targets from that site you were on?â Nathan asks.
âLetâs talk about it after class,â Kai replies. âWe might be able to do another hit tonight.â
âOh yeah, thatâs what Iâm talking about,â I say, grinning from ear to ear.
