Chapter 14: The Saving
Send It To My Phone
Blake's Point of View
I stared at the script. I had less than a week to memorize it and I didn't even know the first line. Krissy and I had to ace this. It was our final project before winter break. I was more than excited to leave school, even if it's only two weeks. I just wanted to relax. I was majorly stressed and school only added to it. I was done with football. Our school didn't get very far in the playoffs. It was expected. But, at least we did make it. We played hard, yet it wasn't good enough.
I'm okay with the outcome. I liked playing, but not enough to pursue it. I'll miss playing but there is no way in hell i'll be going to college, not even on a football scholarship. I just don't see it happening. I don't want it bad enough.
I continued to stare at the script before groaning. I had no clue how I was supposed to do this. Krissy seemed to be fluent in Spanish now and all I knew how to do was ask for a server. I was going to flunk us.
"Hey Blake." Sophie asked walking into my room. I shut my notebook and turned towards her. I was glad for the distraction. Sophie and Asher had been dating for a month now. It was extremely weird to me. They're all lovey dovey and touchy. I hate being around them. It grossed me out, yet they'd continue to make out in the same room as me.
"Hey sis." I said to her. She sat down on the edge of my bed as I looked at her from my desk. She was dressed in workout gear. I bet she had gone to the gym with Asher. It's one of the things they do as a couple. It's disgusting.
"How's the script coming along?" She asked. I sighed. "Not good?"
"I have no clue how i'm supposed to memorize this all. I can barely do it in English. How am I supposed to do it in another language?" I told her. It was so much easier to learn it when Krissy is here to help. She has a way with words that it doesn't seem like work.
"You'll go great Blake. I have never seen you work so hard on something that was required for school." She said. I shrugged. I guess it was true. I usually let the other person do all the work. For some reason, I felt like contributing with Krissy.
"I have to if I want to graduate." I said annoyed. That was the only reason I was in the stupid class. I needed to pass a foreign language class if I wanted to graduate with my year.
"I know brother. But, I don't know. You seem different. Like when you say you're going to go meet up with Krissy, you sound enthusiastic and excited." She said. I stared at her. What is she even saying?
Is she assuming I like the nerd more than just her being my partner? No, it's not that. Krissy is just the nerd in my class that is helping me become an alumni to our school. There is no way in hell i'll ever see her as a more than a friend. She's barely even a friend. After Spanish is over, I won't even remember who she is.
"No. Krissy is just the nerd using her smart skills to help me pass." I told Soph. She watched me carefully before sighing. She seemed disappointed.
"Right, you can't ever date anyone that isn't a slut." She said. I rolled my eyes. She's so dramatic. I can date someone that isn't a slut. I just for sure won't date a nerd. She was probably also a prude and never had a boyfriend. Yeah, there's no way i'd ever be caught dating someone like Krissy.
"I can date whoever I want. Plus it's not like i'm not wanted." I said annoyed. She put up her hands in surrender before getting up.
"I'll leave you to your studying Blake." She said making her way to the door. She tightened her ponytail before turning to give me a soft smile. Her worry lines and dark circles were evident on her face.
She was stressed and I had no idea why. She was hiding something that was causing her to not be her bright and happy self. It pained me to see her like this, but I knew better than to meddle in her life. She'd only hate me if I did.
"Hey sis." I called out. She turned towards me and waited for me to respond. "Have you talked to Kate?"
Her eyes widened at my sudden question. I had been postponing it, hoping to receive any message from Kate. But, it has seemed as if she slipped off the face of the Earth. There was no contact with her and I hated it. I needed to see her.
"No. Morgan said she went out of town or something." Sophie said while scratching the back of her neck. I eyed her before she walked back over to me. She stood next to the desk, not meeting my eyes.
"When does she come back?" I asked. I was dying to see her. It had been over a month since I missed my opportunity to kiss her. I wasn't going to let it slip again.
"After winter break maybe." Sophie said with a shrug. I took that as my opportunity to ask her something.
"Do you think you could help me get another date with her?" I asked. I was going to make her mine. She wasn't going to slip through my hands again.

Krissy's Point of View
I stared at my homework. I had so much studying to do and my brain only seemed to work against me. It wanted nothing more than to watch a whole season Netflix while laying in bed.
Finals were coming up and I needed to do great. Harvard will not accept anything less. I need to exceed. It was my only goal in life, well until I get in.
I looked at the clock on my wall and noticed the time. It was nearing nine o'clock which meant that it was time to move on to my script. I needed to memorize everything on it. These last few weeks with Blake have been amazing. He's actually cooperating and trying to learn. That only added to my ever long list of reasons as to why Blake is perfect. The only bad thing is that he's a manwhore trouble maker.
I know that this little crush I have on him is only going to get worse as we finish our project. I can't stop seeing him until break. It's only a week a way and it's getting harder to keep up my act. Blake had been texting Kate nonstop. Every day around 6 in the evening, Blake sends a message saying he misses me and wants to see me again. I ignore each and every one of them. And boy, let me tell you that there has been a ton.
He's clingy and obnoxious with his messages. Sometimes he'll even quadruple text me. I don't even open them anymore. I just let them chill in my messaging app.
"Knock knock."
I turned around from my desk and see Morgan at my doorway. She was dressed in a pair of black skinny jeans with thigh high black velvet boots. She had on a light grey v-neck sweater with a matching beanie. Her brown locks were in waves. She looked gorgeous in everything.
"Hey M." I told her. She walked in, her boots hitting the ground, and sat on my bed. She leaned back on the pillows and closed her eyes.
"K, it is the Friday night before finals. Let's do something cool." Morgan said. I instantly shook my head. I didn't have time for this. School was my number one priority. I needed to get a 5.0 before I could do anything remotely fun. Besides, staying in and binge watching Gossip Girl for the fifth time sound like a party to me.
"Gossip Girl or Gilmore Girls?" I asked her. I shut my textbooks and moved all of my homework and supplies into my backpack. I'd have time to organize it all later.
"Party?" Morgan suggested. I shook my head. That was so not happening. I did not want to run into Blake. If I go as Krissy, he'll probably joke around about me being at a party. If I go as Kate, he'll hound me for ignoring him. There was no winning here.
"No." I said standing up. I went into my bathroom and fixed my sloppy bun. I saw the dark circles forming underneath my eyes. The stress from school was weighing down on me. I wanted nothing more than to forget about it. A party could help but there is no way I would be seen at one. People would torture me for showing up. I was the nerd and nerds weren't seen at parties.
I shut the light off in the bathroom and walked back into my room. Morgan was raiding my closet. She had a leather jacket in her hand.
"What are you doing?" I asked her. She turned around with an evil smirk on her face. I did not like the sight of that.
"It's time to show Blake that he isn't wanted." She said while throwing a cheetah print dress. I caught it and held it up. The front had a very low V.
"I am not going and I am definitely not wearing this Morgan." I said to her. She rolled her eyes before picking up her phone from the bed. She dialed something before smacking it onto her ear.
"She isn't cooperating.... Yeah. I did..... Okay. See you in ten." Morgan said before hanging up.
"Morgan." I said. She only looked at me with an evil glint. She was scaring me more and more as this night went on. I just wanted to lay in bed while watching Dan and Serena.
"I'll be downstairs. Change into that please." Morgan said before walking out of my room. I groaned as she stepped out. I did not want to go to this party. I did not want to see Blake. And, I especially did not want to waste my time being Kate.
I was fine seeing Blake as Krissy. He actually talked to me like a person and he wasn't trying to get into my pants. I liked this side of Blake. He was sweet and caring. He wasn't flirty, but he still threw in his jokes. Our conversations were actually intellectual.
The side of Blake that is out when he's the bad boy disgusts me. He flirts to a next level and tries everything to get you to fall for him. I almost did the night after our first date. I knew that once I let him steal my first kiss, I would be going back to him for more. He's addicting and knows how to use it. I didn't want to be trapped into his little game. He'd only sleep with me before moving on to the next girl. I did not want to be a number on his list.
"Krissy!" I heard someone shout from downstairs. It sounded like Morgan. I bet she was waiting for me to walk downstairs in the stupid dress. Not only was it very open in the front, it barely went passed my butt.
"I'm not going!" I shouted back. I grabbed the remote from my desk and let my body drop on the bed. I got comfortable before putting on Netflix.
I heard footsteps running up the stairs. There was multiple ones before my door swung open. Morgan had the evil glint in her eye. She walked in a tossed the outfit to me once again. Sophie walked in behind her. She was dressed for the party too, wearing skinny jeans and heels. Her top was a sweater with a scarf wrapped around her neck.
"Okay, why do you guys get to wear jeans and a sweater while i'm being forced to wear this very revealing dress." I said annoyed. Not only were they making me go but they were forcing me into an outfit I would freeze in.
It was December in Connecticut and it was snowing. I did not want to go outside in that. I bet they'd make me wear heels too. I was so not going to this party.
"Come on Kris. You need to go." Sophie begged. I shook my head. Sophie looked towards the door before nodding. A new pair of footsteps were heard before I saw a boy walk into my room.
Asher Stone was in my house. Blake's best friend was in the same room as me. Oh my god. I'm dressed in sweats with a god in front of me.
"Hi Krissy. I'm Asher. We haven't met yet." He said in his deep, attractive voice. Sophie scored with him. He's cute and caring. He treats Sophie like a queen.
"Umm hi." I said to him stunned. I never thought he'd be in my house.
"So Sophie told me that your Kate?" He asked. I widened my eyes before narrowing them at Sophie.
"Hey. He got it out of me. He kept pestering me about Kate and I had to tell him. Besides, he won't tell Blake. I made him promise me." Sophie said in defense. I sighed. It's okay that he knows. I'm never going to be Kate again anyway.
"Now that we've gone over all that, get ready. The party is about to start." Morgan said with an excited tone. Sophie and Asher nodded. They looked happy together. I was slightly jealous that i'll never get to know what that's like.
"I'm not going." I stated. I turned up the tv and focused on Blaire. She was scheming a plan to get Chuck back. They were so perfect together yet something always messed it up for them.
"Krissy, Blake isn't going to this party. I asked him before Asher picked me up. He said he needed to memorize the script." Sophie said. My demeanor softened at that. Blake was trying on this project, making it harder to forget him.
"See K. Get ready." Morgan said. I sighed. I guess I could go if Blake wasn't going. I didn't have to worry about seeing him. Maybe I could have fun.
"Alright fine. But if Blake does end up showing up, i'm out of there." I said. The girls nodded enthusiastically before pushing me onto my bed. I sat down and let them make me over. I was going to be Kate one more time. I just hoped I didn't regret it.

Blake's Point of View
The words were beginning to jumble in my head. I had been staring at the script ever since Sophie left my room. She had come in dressed in jeans and a sweater. Makeup was plastered all over her face.
"Where are you going?" I asked her. She walked into my room to use the mirror I had. For some reason, I had a full length mirror and she didn't. I probably got the girl room when we moved in.
"Paul Ross's. Aren't you going to the party?" She asked with a stunned tone. I shook my head, causing her eyes to widen.
"I had to memorize this. I can't waste my time at his lame party." I said. I hated Paul. He thought he was the hottest guy in town. He was a spoiled brat. His daddy bails him out of everything. I'm sure if it wasn't for him, he'd be more of a delinquent than I am.
"So let me get this straight. The Blake Tyler is staying in on a Friday night and not going to a party in order to do homework?" She asked for clarification. I nodded. It sounded weird to me. I was staying in to do homework instead of showing my face at a party. I never thought i'd be doing that.
"I have to tell Asher." She squeaked before taking her phone on. She snapped a picture of me before answering the phone.
"Hello?" She said. She sat on my bed before turning to look at me. "No! He isn't going. I'm stunned too."
I rolled my eyes and slid on my Beats. I didn't not want to hear her conversation about me. If it was with Kate, I would be all ears. Damn. I missed her.
"Blake!" Sophie shouted. I turned around and saw her with a huge smirk. She was up to something.
"What Sophie?" I groaned. I just wanted to learn this fucking script without interruptions.
"So you are a hundred percent sure you aren't going?" She asked. I groaned.
"No Sophie! I am not going." I said. She nodded before dialing again. She walked out of my room and into the hallway. I got up from my desk to close the door.
"Hey. She can go. Is she ready?" I heard Sophie say. I stayed by the door. Who was she talking too? "Did you give her the dress?" The person on the other line must of said something because Sophie was going down the stairs.
I shut my door and went back to my desk. I wanted to know who she was talking to and about who. I doubt it was Kate. She said she had no clue what happened to her. But would Sophie lie to me about that? She knows how much I want her.
I shook my head free of those thoughts and stared at the next line. "Quiero una coca por favor."
-
The clock next to me ticked, causing me to groan. That only signified that I had been staring at my homework for another hour. It was now near midnight. How I spent my Friday night doing homework is beyond me.
I got up from my desk and picked up my phone. It was full of text messages from people asking me where I was. I deleted them all. They were unimportant people who did not need my presence. I clicked on the Snapchat app and went to the stories. I wanted to see if the party was even worth going to. I clicked on Sophie's story first. A picture of her and Asher flooded my screen making me click passed it. It then went to a picture of the amount of bottles Paul had. I clicked through that one. A video was next, showing some brunette dancing with Paul. It disgusted me.
I clicked onto Paul's story. I hated the guy but we were still friends on social media. It helped keep the rivalry going. The first picture was of him with multiple girls clinging on to him. They all seemed familiar. He usually got my sloppy seconds.
The next thing was a video. He was recording the body shots that some of the football players were taking off girls. I skipped through it, not caring. The next thing was a picture of some girl's ass. It was nice and round, barely covered by her short dress.
A video then moved on. I turned up the volume to hear was his annoying ass was saying. "Meet my new girl K?" He said. The camera moved to a brunette before she giggled aimlessly.
My eyes narrowed at the sight of the girl clinging to his arm. It was Kate. She seemed to be having the time of her life and it was with the one guy I hated most. I locked my phone and shoved it into my pocket. I grabbed my leather jacket and stormed out of my room. I was not going to let that dickface have his way with my girl. She was mine and only mine.
I ran down the stairs and out of the house. I went straight to my bike. I started the engine before zooming out of my neighborhood. I sped passed cars, even running a few red lights. I drove into Paul's neighborhood and straight to his house. I pulled into his driveway, parking up front. I fixed my blond hair before walking inside.
The house was thumping. The music was obnoxiously loud as crowds of people danced. It was one of the biggest parties i've seen, only making me angrier. I threw the best parties, not Paul. I had to best looks, not Paul. I always had the best girls, not Paul. I shoved my way through the crowd, earning annoyed looks before they dissipated. No one hated me. Everyone either wanted to be me and be with me.
I walked into the kitchen to find Sophie with Asher. They were talking with huge smiles before Sophie noticed my presence. Her smiled slid right off her face.
"Blake! What are you doing her?" She asked. I walked right over to her and Asher.
"Hey dude. You finished your studying?" Asher asked. I glared at both of them before taking a look around.
"Where is she?" I asked. She raised their eyebrows. Confusion was written across their face. "Kate. Where is she?"
"She isn't here Blake. We've been here the whole time and haven't seen her. I'm pretty sure she's still on vacation." Sophie said. Asher nodded.
"If she were here, we would have told you." Asher added. I let my anger disappear. They were right. They wouldn't hide this from me. I took another look around before facing them.
"I'm going home." I said. They nodded in understanding. Whoever that girl was in Paul's story looked just like Kate. I walked out of the kitchen and into the crowd of people. I pushed my way through until I reached the front door. I was stopped by the devil himself.
"Well if it isn't Blake Tyler." He said. I narrowed my eyes at him. I did not have time for this bullshit.
"I was just leaving." I said going straight to the door.
"So soon? Was this amazing party too much to handle?" Paul smirked. I took a deep breath, stopping myself from punching the daylights out of him.
"Amazing?" I scoffed. "More like horrifying. I've had better parties. I came to see if it lived up to the hype and it did not."
"We both know it did. Plus I got something you didn't." He smirked. I glared at his ugly ass face. "Krissy."
I widened my eyes. I looked around and saw the same girl I saw in his story. She was dressed in a short dress with her hair down. The only difference was that she had her thick rimmed glasses on her face.
"Oh. Hey Blake." Krissy stumbled into my arms. I wrapped my arm around her. She was drunk and did not need to be with this asshole.
"We're leaving." I stated. Paul only smirked before walking away. I stopped myself from lunging at him and focused on the nerd in my arms. I helped her walked out of the party and into the dark starry night. She giggled as I pulled her closer to my body. She was wrapped in alcohol, making it even more evident of how wasted she was.
"Krissy, how much did you have to drink tonight?" I asked her. She looked into my eyes before giggling.
"Like six?" She said before giggling again. I sighed. I'm sure she has no idea how much.
"I'm going to take you home. I'm sure your parents don't want to see you like this." I said to her. Krissy nodded before laying her head on my shoulder. Her eyes were beginning to droop.
I scooped her up into my arms and hugged her close to my body. The thin material she had on was not enough for the cold, winter night. I walked away from the loud party before sitting down on the sidewalk. I was careful with her petite body and took my phone out. I dialed Asher.
"Hey man." I said.
"Are you home? I heard you were confronted by Paul." Asher asked.
"Yeah. I also found a very drunk Krissy. Can you drive us home?" I asked him. I looked down at the nerd. She was snoring slightly as her small arms hugged my body. I'm sure she thought I was a teddy bear or soemthing.
"Yeah, where are you? Sophie and I are on our way." He said. I could hear the background noise start to fade.
"We're on the curb. I was about to head home until I remembered I came on my bike." I told him. I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around and saw Asher and Sophie.
I slid my phone back into my pocket before standing up. I was careful to not drop Krissy, making it very difficult for me to do so. Even if she weighed less than a sack of flour, I was barely able to keep my balance.
"What happened?" Sophie asked. She took her phone out and dialed someone. She waited for me to respond before greeting someone.
"I was leaving and found her stumbling. I'm pretty sure Paul got her drunk." I said feeling my anger rise. He had no reason to get her drunk. I'm sure it was her first time at a party too.
"Come on. Let's get her home." Sophie said pulling me towards Asher's car. She opened the back door, letting me slide in with Krissy. I set her down on the seat, only for her to snuggle into my side.
I felt this weird warmth take over my emotions. I wrapped my arm around her body and she laid her head on my shoulder. I smiled at the small interaction before hearing someone clear their throat.
Sophie and Asher were staring at me. Asher was smirking while Sophie was staring at me in awe. I frowned. What's going on with these two?
"Where does she live?" Asher asked. I shook my head. There was no way she was going home. I'm sure her parents would flip out if their daughter came home drunk.
"She's staying with us. She can't go home like this." I told them. They nodded before facing forward.
Minutes passed before we arrived at my house. Asher and Sophie got out first, followed by me. I reached in and scooped up Krissy's small body again. I walked up to the front door where Sophie was holding it open. I walked through it and went up the stairs. I went straight to my room. I shut the door behind me before softly laying her on my bed. She snuggled into the covers before yawning.
I waited for her to fall asleep before stepping out. I ran into Sophie and Asher. They were waiting for an explanation from me. I sighed.
"I'm sleeping downstairs. Don't make noise. She's going to have a huge hangover in the morning." I said to them. They nodded before disappearing down the hallway. I went down the stairs and into the living room. I took off my jacket and shirt and tossed it on the arm chair. I slid off my converse and reached for the throw blanket. I laid out on the large couch and snuggled into the warmth. I closed my eyes and dreamed of the brunette sleeping upstairs.
