Chapter 9: The Choice
Send It To My Phone
Krissy's Point of View
I looked at myself in the mirror. Every time Morgan transformed me into Kate, I couldn't believe what I looked like. Who would have thought that I would be caught wearing a super short black dress with a dip in the front. Only wearing matching black pumps. Not me, that's for sure.
"Are you sure?" I asked the girls. They both nodded, inspecting my outfit. I felt like I was missing something. Or maybe I had too much. I should change. This isn't me. Blake would never even look at me. What am I even doing. This is not worth it.
"Curls. Her hair needs to be in curls." Sophie said. I looked at her, my previous thoughts dispersing. Of course this isn't me. I'm Kate tonight. I have to act like the sassy, hot girl Blake likes. He wants the brunette who acts like she has no care in the world and knows how to act at a party.
"I agree!" Morgan added. I rolled my eyes. They had been like that for the last hour. One would mention something and the other would freak out and agree. It's as if they have been best friends their whole life and i'm the one that just moved here.
"Stop Kris. You look amazing and will be the center of attention, mostly Blake's." Sophie said with a smirk at the end. I looked at Morgan. She nodded, agreeing with Soph. I sighed. There was no way out of this.
"Alright, alright. Let's go before I chicken out." I said feeling my nerves start to jumble. I could feel the regret starting to seep in.
"Ten minutes. We need to look hot too." Morgan pointed out. I nodded. I sat down and took my phone out. I clicked on the twitter app. I saw a bunch of retweets about the party we were going to. Most were about Blake being there.
I could feel my nerves start to jumble even more. Was I ready for this? Did he really want to see me? Was he just playing me?
"Kris! Kris! Earth to Krissy." Morgan said while waving her perfectly manicured hand in front of my face. I blinked a few times before turning to look at them. They were looking at me weary.
"Are you okay?" Sophie asked. I nodded. I stood up and smoothed out my dress. I shook my body a little and took a deep breath.
"I'm as ready as i'll ever be." I said to them. They both nodded. I grabbed my clutch and walked out of the room. They were both hot on my tail.
"Krissy? Where are you- woah."
I turned around to see my mom in the hallway. She was staring at me with wide eyes. I looked down at my outfit and began to feel insecure.
"Hey mom. Is it okay if I go to a party?" I asked. I felt bad about not asking earlier. I told her that Morgan and Sophie were going to sleepover and here I was changing the plans.
"Of course! You look beautiful Krissy." My mom said through teary eyes. I took her compliment and thanked her.
"Thanks Mrs. Reagan. Promise to take care of her. But we have to go now." Morgan said to my mom. She grabbed onto the crook of my elbow and began to pull me down the stairs. I waved at my mom before following Morgan and Sophie down the stairs. We walked passed the living room where my dad was passed out. I held a giggle in. He can never stay up past 9.
"Your mom looked like she was about to start bawling." Sophie said once we were safely in Morgan's car.
"I know. I am never usually like this." I said. I started to feel subconscious for the second time in a span of five minutes. Why did Blake even like me? I'm just a nerd pretending to be pretty girl.
"K. Relax. You'll be okay. We'll be with you the entire night." Sophie said from the backseat. I took a deep breath and nodded.
"Thanks guys. Hopefully I don't regret this." I said fidgeting in my seat. I hoped I really didn't.
-
Eyes, hundreds upon hundreds of them were watching like a hawk. They were all staring at us! Well me, but still! I did not like this one bit. I was supposed to come to this party and blend in. Yet, here I am being the center of attention!
"Relax Kate." Sophie winked. I nodded, taking a deep breath. I'm here to find Blake and find out if everything he said was true.
"Let's go to the kitchen. That's usually where Asher is." Morgan said. Sophie nodded enthusiastically before grabbing my wrist and pulling me in that direction.
Morgan stopped by the keg and filled up three red cups. She handed me and Sophie one, keeping the other. I gave her a look.
"It's my only one. I promise." Morgan said. I nodded. It better be. I wanted to get home safely, in one piece. Hopefully that's very soon. This dress was starting to feel really short. Were guys staring at my butt or was that just me? I should have worn jeans instead of this short dress.
"So, where is your boy?" Sophie asked looking around. I followed her eyes, not spotting the very attractive blond bad boy.
"I don't know." I said taking a sip of the bitter beer. I never liked drinking and I still didn't. I didn't understand why I stooped so low as to actually drink alcohol. But, maybe it'll calm down the nerves I was forcing down in my stomach.
"There's Asher." Morgan said in a singing voice. Sophie followed her gaze before quickly turning to face me. I giggled. Sophie had it bad.
"Go talk to him." I told Sophie. She quickly shook her head. She stared at some random girl, earning a glare from her. She quickly looked down at her cup as if it was the most interesting thing on the planet.
"Sophie." Morgan said. She turned to look at her before shaking her head again. She went back to studying the golden liquid. Was she going to drink some?
"Oh my god." I said. I noticed Blake walk into the kitchen, going directly towards Asher and the guys. Luckily, he hasn't spotted us yet.
"Hey Asher!" Blake called out. I quickly turned away from the scene and faced Sophie. Sophie looked scared at my sudden movement which consisted of her facing the guys again.
"Now I know what's occurring." Morgan smirked. I narrowed my eyes and glared.
I know i'm at this party to talk to him and figure out if he really does like me, but I don't want to know. It'll ruin my perfectly normal, undramatic life. I'm not ready to give it up for a boy. Much less for a boy I don't even like. Okay, a boy i'm sure that doesn't like me back. He'll never go for a nerd like me.
"He's walking over here." Morgan said snapping me out of my thoughts. I felt my body freeze. "Wait. He stopped."
"What?" I asked. Morgan has confusion written all over her face. Sophie looked at me before looking at Blake. Her eyes widened before looking back at me.
"Guys, there's something I need to tell you." Sophie said nervously. She was fidgeting with the red cup in her hand.
"What?" I asked. She opened her mouth to answer before closing it quickly.
"Sophie? Kate? You guys know each other?" A deep, but attractive voice said. I turned and saw the attractive blond staring at us. He looked confused, much like me.
"Hey Blake." Sophie said. She squirmed under his gaze. He quickly turned to me.
"How do you know my sister?" He asked. I dropped my mouth open. Sophie is Blake's sister? I stared at her as she avoided eye contact. The beer suddenly turned interesting again.
I looked at her features, seeing similar characteristics. She had the same nose and lips. Her cheekbones were a bit lower than his but still similar in shape. Their hair and eye color were the only thing really different. She had light brown hair and hazel eyes while he had blond hair and blue eyes.
"Wait. So this is the famous twin sister of Blake's?" Morgan asked. Sophie didn't meet any of our gazes. I was still in shock. Sophie is related to Blake?
"Wait. Morgan? You know Kate too?" Blake asked. He looked between the three of us, waiting for answers. I felt awkward and uncomfortable. I knew we shouldn't have come. I looked around, ignoring the conversation. All I wanted was to go home and cuddle in my bed while watching Netflix. Pretty Little Liars was calling my name.
This party had bad idea written all over it. Yet, I was here. Why was I here again? Oh right, i'm supposed to find out if the bad boy Blake really does like me.
"Kate?" I heard Blake say while waving a hand in front of my face. I turned to him and awkwardly smiled. I bet my cheeks were a bright red. That's three times someone had to do that to get my attention.
"Hi." I said shyly. He chuckled before turning back to Sophie, who I guess is really Blake's sister.
"Can you guys give Kate and I a moment?" He asked. Morgan looked at me before smirking. She grabbed Sophie's arm and pulled her away.
Hopefully it was toward Asher. Sophie really needed to make a move. I heard Asher is the perfect gentleman and he doesn't sleep with girls. Unlike the boy standing in front of me.
"I'm glad you came." Blake said to me. I smiled and turned away. I still wasn't used to being in his presence. He would hate me if he knew I was really the nerd in his class.
"Yeah. I guess." I said. He sighed, causing his award winning smile to drop from his face. It quickly returned after a few seconds.
"So how do you know my sister?" He asked changing the subject. I was about to tell him that I worked with her, but stopped. Kate doesn't work with her, Krissy does.
"Through Morgan." I said. He nodded and stepped a foot closer. I backed up, not wanting to be near him. My heart was beginning to race and my hands were starting to sweat. This close proximity was causing my body to go into haywire. The butterflies that were fluttering were definitely not helping me keep my cool.
"That's cool." He said with a smirk. "So, about the text from earlier."
"What about it?" I asked. He stepped closer again, making my back hit the counter behind me. I was trapped. He soon was standing a foot away.
"Will you go out on a date with me?" He asked. He showed me his pearly whites, making my heart stop. Blake Tyler just asked me out on a date. Did that mean he did like me back?
-
Blake's Point of View
I waited for her to respond. Her brown eyes were wide as I let the sentence slip from my mouth. I'm sure she could hear how fast my heart was beating, yet I wasn't nervous about her answer.
I could tell she liked me. I mean what girl doesn't. But, there's something about this girl that is making me work harder for her affection. I just don't know what it is yet.
"You want to go out on a date with me?" She asked. I nodded. Is that not what I just asked? "Why?"
"I like you Kate. Can't you give me a chance?" I pleaded. I did like her. Her body was smokin'.
"Why?" She repeated. Her eyes were narrowed and she was studying me closely. I smirked.
"Say yes and find out." I challenged her. I watched as her eyes narrowed even more, which I didn't think was even possible. She kept her gaze on me before sighing, letting the glare drop.
"One date Blake Tyler. Just one." She said in defeat. I smirked. Point one for Blake.
"You won't regret it babe. Wanna dance?" I asked. She rolled her eyes before nodding. I took her hand and led her to the dance floor. I placed my hands on her hips as she put hers on my shoulder. Once again, she was tense at my touch. I took her small hands and wrapped them around my neck. I pulled her into my chest.
"Better?" I joked. She rolled her eyes and started to move her hips to the music.
"So where are we going on this so called date?" She asked. I continued to move my body in sync with hers. Her petite frame seemed to fit into my larger build almost perfectly. It was as if we were made for each other. But we clearly know that's not possible.
"Dinner." I said to her. She looked up at me. Her hazel eyes were showing annoyance and disappointment.
"So original." She said in a monotone voice. I frowned. Did she not want to go to dinner? Isn't that where one should go on the first date? You can talk during it. Girls love to talk, so what the fuck is the problem?
"What's wrong with that?" I asked curiously. She rolled her eyes before letting go of me. She took her hands and took mine off her hips. The heat we created disappeared.
She turned around and started to squish between people out of the dance floor. I quickly followed behind her.
"Kate!" I called out. She didn't turn around, only facing forward. She looked like a girl on a mission. And i'm guessing her mission was to find my sister and her friend.
She walked into the kitchen and began to look around. She held the frown until she saw my sister. She stomped over to her, earning her weird looks from the people around her. I jogged over to the area they were in, seeing Sophie with Asher. He had a huge smile on his face but it quickly disappeared when he was me.
"It's not what-" He began to say, but I caught him off.
"Don't care right now." I told him. He out his hands up in defense. I turned away from him and saw Kate glaring daggers at me. She had her arms crossed across her chest, causing her cleavage to look even bigger. She looked even hotter when she was angry. I didn't think that was even possible for her.
"Kate." I said. She only raised an eyebrow, daring me to continue. "What did I do wrong?"
"Wow big brother. Not even ten minutes in and you already messed up." Sophie joked, but I could tell how serious she was. Sophie never liked me dating any of her friends. She said they were all strictly off limits, but I knew Kate first. I still don't even understand how after two days of being in town, she could befriend the girl i'm trying to sleep with.
"What did you do man?" Asher asked. I turned towards him and sighed.
"I have no fucking clue. Kate, what the fuck did I do?" I asked. Was she mad about going to dinner? Would she rather watch a movie? I'm so confused as to what I did wrong.
"I am not just a regular girl Blake. I don't want to be treated like your usual sluts." Kate began to explain. Her anger seemed to be fueling as she continued to talk. "If you want a relationship with me," she said pointing at herself, "you are going to have to step it up."
"I do." I said in the blink of an eye. Sophie and Asher's eyes widened in surprise. I caught myself in surprise too. I never thought I would be agreeing to a relationship.
Was this girl actually worth all this trouble? I had other girls just waiting for my attention. Was I actually going to try with her? I looked into Kate's cold hazel eyes. They were waiting for my answer. The more I stared into them, the more I knew the answer. This answer could change my life forever.
They started to soften as I continued to stare. I knew that I wanted to stare into them a little bit longer, which scared me. How could this one girl be changing my life, my ways? I wanted to know what was so special about her that was making all this happen. It's not like she's the one. Those don't exist. But why was my body reacting to her every move.
My heart was racing, my hands were sweating, and my stomach was twisting. Why the hell was I feeling this way over a girl?
Because I liked her. That's why.
"Blake?" Kate asked, breaking my thoughts. She leaned against the counter while biting her lip. The small movement was causing my emotions to go crazy. I just wanted to connect my lips to her soft, pink ones.
"Kate, please let me take you out on a date." I pleaded. Sophie looked at me with a small smile. Maybe I was changing. But was I ready for that?
"I already said yes." Kate said with an eye roll. "But, if you mess this up Blake Tyler, I promise i'll make you regret ever helping me at that party."
"Deal." I said. And suddenly, everything the felt right.
