Chapter 507: Olive is Pregnant
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
Alan smelled something unusual in his mother's expression and words. He suddenly thought of his
wife's secret agreement that made the old lady no longer insist on changing Annie's last name.
Could it be...?
Probably it was 80 to 90 percent out of 100.
Olive quietly calculated the date. If she was lucky, it would be about this time. But amidst hoping it,
she really wanted to give him a little Hoyle, but he disagreed, so she could only secretly play smart.
But she was still not too sure. After all, she had experienced similar symptoms during the time she
worked too hard and had great pressure. Even when she brushed her teeth, she would feel sick.
âIt's good to go to the hospital for a check-up,â said Alan.
On the next day, the three arrived at the hospital with their own concerns.
Hospital was a place where people centralized. Nowadays, people with a little cold liked to go to the
hospital.
It required much time and effort to queue up for medical examinations, but for people like the
Hoyle, they never followed the normal procedure.
The president of the hospital was an old friend of Mrs. Hoyle. Early in the morning, she had greeted
her. When Olive went there, she was personally taken care by the president.
The old lady seemed to pay so much attention on this examination and it made Alan surer of what
was in his thought. A newborn child to the Hoyle was the reason for the old lady to compromise.
But, how could it be possible? He had always been careful. He wasn't kidding with his decision.
But after she was done with the check-up, the doctor gave a diagnosis that surprised him.
âMrs. Olive Hoyle has been pregnant for 7 weeks.â
"How is it possible?â he still blurted out although the doctor before him was an authoritative doctor
in an authoritative hospital
âAlan, are you doubting my ability or your wife..." The president didnât say the latter part of his
words, but anyone could understand his meaning. As an old friend, she certainly knew that Mrs.
Hoyle didn't like her daughter-in-law.
Alan's face darkened immediately, âAuntie Jenny, even though you're friends with my mother,
shouldn't you watch your words as an elder?â
No one than him knew what kind of person his girl was in this world. But looking at her sighing in
relief rather than surprised or angry made the feeling of him being tricked stronger.
He didn't let her getting pregnant again because he didn't want her to experience the pain of nine
months pregnancy and labor again. He was afraid of losing her. He wanted to smother any danger
that might make her go through.
But now, the child had taken root in her belly. Could he not want it? He was afraid that his woman
would fight more and made another crazy disappearance act. Wait until matter couldn't be reversed
anymore, the child would already be crawling and she reappeared in front of him. He would be
helpless against her again.
Besides, he wasn't cruel enough to kill this child who was an accident. A miscarriage was also a kind
of harm to a woman.
She plot against him without batting an eyelid. Wasn't she betting that he wouldn't be able to do
anything after the child settled in her belly? It was her victory in the end.
But he obviously never failed to take protective measure even once. His girl had to have done
something behind his back. When they went back home, he needed to interrogate her.
He just didn't expect that with a little urge, his mother who never liked seeing his girl actually asked
right in her face, âThe child in your belly is Alan's, right?â
He saw the look of hurt in his girl's eyes.
Olive felt insulted and her smile turned cold, âIf Mrs. Hoyle is suspicious, you can continue denying
to acknowledge this child after he's born. My family can still raise another child. I don't need to trick
you.â
"Mother, the child is mine. I know the best. You don't have to drive a wedge between us.â Alan was
also upset. Although he didnât know when this child was made, he believed that this child was his.
He knew his girl the best. When she said she wanted to give him another little Hoyle, Lord knew
how touched he was.
Mrs. Hoyle was furious. âI'm driving a wedge? You're the one who obviously said that there's no way.
I'm not the one who make it up. Your Auntie Jenny is listening too.â
Alan coldly said, âThat's because I never think about having another child. When Olive gave birth to
Annie, she almost died from bleeding too much. I donât want her to experience such danger again.â
âIt's just giving birth. When I gave birth to you, I almost died from pain too. I raised you until you're
an adult, but I never see you pity your mother,â the old lady said distastefully.
âIt's not that we don't love you. But you choose to be blind and deaf, so you can't tell who treats
you good and bad.â Alan's eyes glared at Jenny Hugh in warning, pulling Olive up and walking
away.
The old lady shouted at them to stop, but he turned deaf.
After walking out of the hospital, Alan finally slowed down his steps. Olive sighed, âI had wanted to
take this opportunity to get along with your mother better. I don't expect that it will turn out like
this again.â
Speaking of this, Alan was so angry that he halted that it made Olive bumped into his beck and hurt
her nose. She almost thought she had broken her nose.
âYou still dare to say that to me? Why didnât you discuss with me first?â
Olive rubbed her nose and pitifully mumbled, âWill you agree if I discuss with you?â
Alan was annoyed to death.
âI won't, so you act by yourself.â His face was dark. He truly wanted to knock this girl some senses. It
wasn't that he didn't love this child, but he was thinking of her.
âI don't care since we already have this child. You can't not want it. If you dare to, I'll dare to run
away with this child.â Olive turned brazen without a fear.
Alan was truly helpless with her. He gritted his teeth and said, âGet in the car. I'll settle with you
later.â
Olive stuck out her tongue in triumph. She got in the car and silently glanced at the man with dark
clouds covered his face. It was as if storm was coming. It looked like she needed to say a few words
to coax the man.
Her hands unconsciously dropped on her belly.
Little Hoyle, your father was angry. But his angry look looked absolutely cool.
Olive wasn't afraid of Alan's look a little bit now. Of course she knew what he was worried about,
but she really wasn't as weak as porcelain doll. Besides, the current medical skills were so advanced
now. It wasn't as serious as he thought.
Ada saw her mother return alone and couldn't help but looked over, âWhere are Alan and Olive?â
"Donât mention them. I'm so angry at the mention of them.â The old lady slammed her handbag
onto the sofa with an ugly expression.
"What happened again?â Wasn't she concerned this morning? Why was she angry in the blink of an
eye now after she came home? âIs sis-in-law not pregnant?â
"She's pregnant, but doesn't know whether it's your brother's child.â
Ada choked on her mother's words. Was there anyone like her? No wonder her eldest brother was
unwilling to bring Olive back to live here or there would be no peace at home.
âMother, why are you going mad for no reason?â
âI'm going mad? It's your brother who said that it can't be his.â
"How is it possible? Mother, do you think with Alan's dominance towards Olive that it's possible to
let other man takes advantage? Even if Alan is okay, Olive isn't that kind of person. If she is one, she
won't be waiting for Alan to marry her. It's not like she doesn't have pursuers.â
The old lady wasn't necessarily not understand this, but she couldn't help her expression. âIt's hard
for Olive Steele to give birth, but is it easy for me to give birth to your eldest brother? I also had
difficulty giving birth to him back then, but I never see him act more filial to me.â
"So you've been jealous all this time?â Ada snickered.
The old lady didnât admit as she stubbornly said, âI'm not.â
Ada jumped over and sat down beside her, closely hugging her. âMom, as the saying goes, a
daughter is mother's best friend...â
Before she could finished her words, the old lady stabbed, âBest friend? I'm happy enough if you
don't upset me. I'm really suspicious whether I took the three of you from the hospital by mistake.
You're all so selfish.â
"We're not. Mother, think about it, when it's your daughter's time to marry, do you wish for me to
fight everyday with my jealous mother-in-law? How miserable your daughter will be? Won't you be
sad? We have to be considerate, right?â Ada reasoned.
The old lady snorted, âI don't love you since you don't know how to love your mother.â
âThat's not true. Mother, we all can actually understand you. Every mother-in-law sees daughter-in-
law as an extra woman who steals their son, but that's not the case. Your son just has another
woman who loves him. As long as you can sincerely regard Olive as your own family, I believe that
soon you'll find another best friend in your life.â
âI don't believe that Olive Steele would be that gracious. Maybe she'll hate me in the future.â
âThere's an old Chinese saying, you can know the strength of a horse only after a long journey; you
can only know what's in the person's heart after you get to know better. You never even tried, how
can you know sheâs good or bad? Or should we make a bet?â Ada smiled. The old lady was afraid
that her throne would be taken. If she wanted to continue like this, she would really lose it.
âWhat bet?"
Ada thought for a while before she said, âI'm also not young anymore. If we gamble a long-shot, I'll
be an old woman s too and it's not worthwhile. I believe you don't have the patience too. One, let's
bet on whether the child in Olive's stomach is Alan's. Two, after the child is born, let's see will Olive
hate you like you're worried about?â
The old lady interrupted her with an angry snort, âShe hates me now.â
Ada laughed, âIf she hates you, will she come over this house and bring you gift? So, if you lose, you
can no longer interfere what kind of boyfriend or husband I want.â
No matter what, she had to use this opportunity to earn a little benefit for herself. If not, she would
be struck down by lightning.
âYou're so sure that Olive has a loyal heart?â She really didn't know what magic that woman had
Everyone trusted her and they were even willing to bet their happiness on her.
Ada smiled a little, âIf I lose, I'll never talk against you anymore. If you don't believe me, we can sign
a contract.â
