Chapter 55: That's a Secret
Love After Marriage: Mr. Lancaster's Hidden Wife
"Olive" he said with a sigh, recovering his original voice, "you're boring.
No wonder Chloe is complaining about you."
Olive opened his palm over her eyes in surprise, she turned back and
hammered his chest with her fist, shouting happily, "Ivy, why are you
here?"
"If you can be here, why can't 1?" Ivy laughed as she punched him.
Privately, Olive didn't behave like a lady, and she didn'tâ pretend to be
one unless it's necessary.
"I am just a sidekick of the unscrupulous boss, and you? Is the host your
friend?" Otherwise, how could he travel all the way from Luo city to
Sanya? Only his voice... "And can you ventriloquize?"
She felt like poking his Adam's apple, which was such a body structure
that it could disguise another man's voice without any flaw.
In fact, when she thought of this man, she really did not know anything
about him. Only that he was not a bad man, and he had a good heart.
As for his origin, it was a little mysterious. She didn't ask him didn't
mean she wasn't curious.
Ivy nodded ambiguously, "well, just now you were out of your mind.
Now you're right... "
Just then, she smelled a faint fragrance. A fresh and beautiful girl who
was about sixteen or seventeen years old, suddenly rushed over, "Ivy,
you are hiding here flirting with a beautiful woman, no wonder you
leave me behind.
Olive was about to ask him something else, but was interrupted. She
noticed that the girl rolled eyes and looked at her. The girl had a rich
facial expression. Olive jokingly nudged him on the arm and said, âWhy
don't you introduce me to your beautiful girlfriend?â
In fact, she had no idea what kind of friends he had. Whenever she saw
him, he was alone. But at some time of the year he would disappear.
She didn't know what he was up to.
Ivy, with a suspicious flush on his white face, said, "donât talk nonsense.
This is my friend's baby sister, Xenia, and this is my friend, Olive.â
He introduced the two of them to each other.
The host of the party was from Boswell family, which was a rare last
name, so the girl must be the little master here.
Xenia was not shy, "since we all know each other, why not sneak out
and play together? This party is boring. These are all prudes.â
Olive was amused. The girl was very interesting. She was direct and not
pretentious.
Ivy looked at Olive inquiringly, âis it convenient for you?"
Olive peered through the crack in the door. She found that Alan was
surrounded by the group, and his eyes that she didn't know whether
intentionally or not, looked at her, making her feel like she's being shot.
She shivered inexplicably. Heck, he was clearly laughing and talking to
those people.
"Why don't you join us? It's only fun when there are lots of people.â
Xenia should be easy to play well with people. She took Olive's hand
graciously and warmly!
"Sure." Olive didn't shy away and readily agreed.
In this way, she slipped out of the banquet hall under Alan's Hoyle eyes.
As an assistant, she knew that this was a little disrespectful. Somehow
she just wanted to go against his will. She asked the waiter to bring him
a simple message: she met a friend, so she left first, and she would go
back to the hotel by herself.
In the car, Xenia rocked her head with the fierce electronic music.
Ivy turned the volume down a little, "Xenia, it's not right for you to
sneak out like this."
Xenia winked at him a little disconcertingly, "you know what's wrong
and you're on my side."
Olive, with a woman's intuition, caught adoring eyes of Xenia when
Xenia looked at Ivy wittily. This girl loved Ivy.
Ivy said, "your elder brother asked me to look after you. He was afraid
you would make trouble and let me watch over you.â
"My elder brother has resigned himself to his fate. What else can I do? I
can only pretend not to see, out of sight, out of mind.â The sarcasm on
Xenia's face belied her age.
"Your brother, he has his responsibilities and pressures, but he loves
you." Ivy tries to explain.
"I know my brother is probably the only one in my family who really
cares about me. As for my unscrupulous father, well, his plan was to use
my brother's wedding to introduce me to the playboy whose last name
was Gold. My father was such an old fool. If he wants me to do what he
says, unless I get my head caught in the door. He forced my brother to
marry a woman he didn't love, and my father still tried to control me.
That's impossible. What kind of bad business did he do at the cost of
the happiness of his childrenâs lives? I think he only cared about his
company, his power and his status. He never thinks whether we are
willing or not, but he sees us only as pawns and pawns in exchange for
business interests. If he really forces me, I won't listen to him like my
brother does. If I couldn't, I'd run away. I donât want to be the young
lady of Boswell family anyway. What is life without freedom? I'd be
crazy to spend my life with a man I don't love.â
