Chapter 229 - 229 Saving Camille
Rise of the Crusader
229 Saving Camille
âI can be the one who will end you or the one who will spare you.â
âIt will depend on which move you choose to make,â Raphael added.
Upon hearing Raphael, the look on the anacondaâs face changed greatly.
It glared at Raphael, trying to discern any hint of bluff or fear in him, but even as it seized Raphael from top to bottom, the anaconda was surprised to find him brimming with confidence.
While there was yet to be any contact between the both of them, the anaconda could tell that Raphael wasnât scared of him⦠Nor was he unwilling to go into combat with him.
âAnd what makes you think, I wonât kill you.â The anaconda muttered, then flashing killing intent in between its eyes.
Meanwhile, responding to the beast, Raphael smirked. âYou canât kill me,â Raphael stated.
Standing in front of the enormous anaconda, Raphaelâs hands remained inside his pocket. There was not a tinge of panic on his face, but as he stared back at Camille, his eyebrows furrowed.
âLet her go, lizard.â Said Raphael.
.....
âHow dare you!!!â Immediately after Raphael spoke, the anaconda went into a rage.
He didnât hear wrong, and indeed the human in front of him had just called him a lizard.
âI will shred you apart.â
With the lower part of his lower body still wrapped around Camille, the anaconda launched at Raphael. Its mouth was wide open as it ended to swallow Raphael in one go.
Gus, who was on Raphaelâs shoulder, watched as the anaconda approached Raphael, and as the anaconda became close, it opened its mouth gently, and flames scorched out of its mouth.
The anaconda was dumbstruck upon seeing the flames that emerged from Gus. However, before the flames would hit him, he hurriedly moved away.
âUhnâ Gus let out a light sound, before then shaking his head.
While the anaconda was able to prevent the flames from hitting its face, the same couldnât be said for the other part of his body.
Once he averted from the flames, they latched onto the middle part of his body.
The anacondaâs body was tough to break, and the flames only left a scratch on its body before it died down.
âA meta-beast!â The Anaconda exclaimed with shock evident in his voice.
He stared at Gus with disbelief written all over his face, but as he soon as he moved his gaze to Raphael, the last piece of the puzzle was figured out immediately.
âBrown scruffy hair, proud and arrogant demeanor, psychopath, and most importantly the owl on the shoulder.â The anaconda mumbled. âYou are Raphael, Queen!â
As that name rang out, Raphaelâs lips curved upwardly, while the anaconda moved backward.
It took a bit longer for the anaconda to realize it, but right after he knew the person standing in his front, he let go of Camille right away.
âMy apologies, I didnât realize it was you.â The anaconda said.
Ignoring the beast, Raphael slowly walked towards Camille.
However, seeing Raphael approaching her, Camille clenched her hand into a tight fist and as he arrived in front of her, she spoke.
âI didnât ask for your help, Raphael,â Camille muttered.
There was a tinge of anger on her face as she spoke to Raphael, almost as though she were confident that she would have gotten out alive if he didnât intervene.
Upon Camilleâs reply, Raphael didnât say a word. He continued to stare at her, and after a brief moment, he moved his gaze away from her.
Turning his back to her, and then staring at the anaconda, Raphael folded his hand across his chest.
While no words left his mouth, the anaconda seemed to have understood the message, and slowly he left the scene.
The anaconda movement caused Camille to bite her lower lips hard, as it was very obvious that Raphael wasnât taking any of what she said seriously.
It seems to him, she was simply throwing tantrums.
âI can take care of myself, Raphael!â Camille said, and this time around it was in a displeased voice.
She glared at Raphael, showing just how inappropriate she found his help.
However, much to Camilleâs surprise, Raphael was indifferent to the look on her face and the words she said.
He didnât glance at her, and instead, his eyes were fixed on the fleeing anaconda. But after the anaconda was no longer in sight, he slowly turned towards Camille.
âYou will only get yourself killed if you continue to persist,â Raphael said. âFind somewhere to recover your strength, before choosing to roam about the city.â
Followed by those words, and Raphael took a step forward.
Camilleâs hands were already balled into tight fists, and as she stared at Raphael, who was walking away from her, she gritted her teeth.
Considering how they had ended the last time, Camille hadnât been expecting Raphael to make a move, not to talk of helping her get rid of the anaconda.
As he had left her in a battered state during the tournament, Camille had assumed he was going to mock her or even add to the scars around her body instead.
âSighâ¦â Heaving a deep breath, Camille took a deep glance at herself, before then rubbing her hand across her hair.
Raphael hadnât been joking when he said that she needed a place to recover before moving, as she was in the face of a horrible state.
Camille slowly took another deep breath in. She then walked forward, and as she was about to take another step, her body suddenly trembled violently.
It was as though she were having a seizure, and less than five seconds after the trembling started, she stumbled to the ground.
Thud!
With Raphaelâs high senses, it would be a lie to say that he was oblivious to the sound that rang out.
However, he didnât turn around, instead, he continued to move forward. As he was about to make a turn, Gus suddenly let out a snort, then a hiss.
âIâm becoming too soft these days⦠I wonder why.â Raphael muttered.
Then turning towards Camille, who was on the ground unconscious, he spoke. âGo bring her over!ân/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
And upon hearing Raphael, Gus moved immediately. There was an excited look on his face, and once Camille was dragged over, they moved.
