Chapter Six: Amelia Moves In
Falling For An Autistic Girl
Derrick walked into his high-end apartment, he turned around and Amelia walked in behind him, Amelia had changed out of her waitress uniform and was now wearing a green buttoned-up shirt, and blue jeans and was carrying a backpack over one of her shoulders. Amelia looked around Derrick's large apartment, "How did you get this flat?" she asked in shock. Derrick smiled at Amelia cheerfully, "You really think I wouldn't buy two apartments and merge them together?" he joked, Amelia shook her head, "No, I didn't think you could do such a thing, thank you for housing me, I owe you a lot" she stuttered.
Derrick nodded his head, "You don't owe me anything, I love you and wanted to help you now that you've lost your flat" he stated calmly. Amelia bowed her head, "I love you too, but I'm going to struggle with this transition, just please know I will most probably need your help with the transition" she stuttered anxiously as she pulled her fingers. Derrick nodded his head and smiled at Amelia cheerfully, "Of course Ani, anything you need you will get, if you need some emotional support then just say, if you need a hug or something, then just say, if you need anything, just tell me, okay?" he stated softly. Amelia nodded her head, "Thank you, Rick, you are amazing, I love you" she mumbled as she tried to stop herself from slurring her words.
Derrick nodded, "It's fine, now follow me and you'll find your new bedroom" he stated as he walked down the hallway. "I still don't understand what he sees in me" whispered Amelia as she ran down the hallway after Derrick. When the duo arrived at the end of the hallway, Amelia stood in awe at what had been done for her, Derrick smiled at Amelia cheerfully, "This is your new room" he said cheerfully. The room had a huge queen-sized bed, a large wooden wardrobe, a TV mounted on the wall, and a bedside table. Amelia put her hands over her mouth, "This is all for me?" she whimpered, trying to not cry, Derrick nodded his head, "Yes, yes it is" he stated calmly.
Amelia felt her emotions overwhelm her, "Rick, I'm struggling" she stuttered as her hands started trembling. Derrick nodded his head before grabbing Amelia's hand and walking her over to her new bed, Derrick made Amelia sit down on the bed. "Hey are you okay?" asked Derrick calmly, Amelia shook her head, "I've lost so much and you've given me so much, you are a precious soul, Rick, you have given me everything I've ever wanted, I love you, I will always love you" she stuttered as she broke down in tears. Derrick put his arm around Amelia and pulled her closer to him till her head rested on his shoulder, "I want to help you deal with your trauma, I want to help you move on from your past, I want you to be loved and accepted, I love you and I will always support you" stated Derrick softly, Amelia nodded her head but remained silent, she was lost for words and didn't know how to thank Derrick.
Derrick looked at Amelia with a loving grin, "I can tell what you're thinking" he said cheerfully, Amelia shook her head anxiously, "No, no you don't" she stuttered. Derrick looked at Amelia with a raised eyebrow expression, "So you're not overwhelmed by your emotions and you don't feel guilty because I've helped you get back on your feet despite the problems you're going through?" he asked in a joking manner. Amelia bowed her head, "Yes, that is what I was thinking, I want you to see me as an equal, I don't want it to feel like I'm using you for money, I genuinely love you, I just struggle to express it" she stuttered as she pulled her fingers nervously. Derrick pulled Amelia closer to him and hugged her lovingly, "I know you do, I want to help you no matter what as I love you and I always will, if you ever need help then please just tell me, I will do everything to support you" stated Derrick in a soft voice.
Amelia kissed Derrick on the neck, "Thank you, Rick, I appreciate you giving me so much and being here for me, I don't know what you see in me and if you don't mind, I would like to know what you like about me" she mumbled as she slurred her words. Derrick smiled, "I find your social awkwardness really cute and sweet, I think you're beautiful and most importantly I understand your struggles and I want the best for you, I want you to be loved and never have to struggle in silence, what about you? What do you see in me?" he replied. Amelia looked at Derrick with a flat-faced expression, "You're the first person I've ever dated and you are sweet, funny, and kind, you've been an emotional support for me and you've helped me avoid going homeless, I have a life debt to you, but besides that every moment I'm around you, I get warm, fuzzy feelings, even though I don't tend to like being touched I always want you to hug me and make me feel safe" stated Amelia trying to not get emotional about the question she had just been asked.
Derrick nodded his head and smiled the biggest smile he ever had, "It's okay Ani, I love you and I will always be here to be an emotional support to you"Â he stated calmly. Amelia nodded her head and leaned in to kiss Derrick's cheek when Roger walked in, "Geez get a room you two" he joked. Amelia freaked out and stood up, she was surprised and embarrassed, "This is my room, I will do what I want here" she stuttered standing as if she was about to begin boxing. Derrick looked at Amelia with a surprised expression, "Hey Ani, do you know how to fight?" he asked skeptically. Amelia nodded her head, "I used to do boxing at the orphanage, why do you ask?" she mumbled.
Roger looked across the room at Derrick, "You have to be careful she doesn't beat you up bro" he joked. Amelia looked at Roger with a flat-faced expression, "Why would I attack Rick? I love him dearly and he is my special person, please do not insinuate that I will hurt him" she hissed angrily. Derrick grabbed Amelia's hand, "Calm down sweetheart, I know you aren't going to hurt me" he stated calmly, Amelia looked at Derrick and bowed her head, "I don't want to fight again, I was never much of a fighter if someone attacks me I can fight them off, but I would never get in a ring again, not after what happened at the orphanage" she sighed as she slowed her speak to avoid slurring her words.
Derrick looked at Amelia with a concerned look, "What happened at the orphanage?" he asked in a soft tone, Amelia looked up at Derrick anxiously, "I fought one of the other kids, he hit me multiple times in the head, I had a massive concussion since and I spent a few days in hospital afterward" she mumbled, a look of distress was plastered on her face. "Hey, you're okay now my love, don't worry about it, you were young and you've healed since then" stated Derrick, Amelia nodded her head, "I know, but since then I refuse to get into the boxing ring, just to protect my mental health and physical wellbeing" she mumbled. Derrick nodded his head and smiled at Amelia warmly, "I've got you, I'm always going to be here for you" stated Derrick as he gave Amelia a peck of the neck.
