“Relax, it’s fine.” As Allie tried to sit up, Yaeger quickly released her aura, gently pressing her back down.

“Aaagh… Huh? I’m actually okay.” Allie flinched and struggled briefly, then realized she felt no extreme temperatures on her skin.

“Have I ever lied to you?” Yaeger asked calmly, now standing beside the bed.

“You’re such a tease,” Allie muttered, rolling her eyes.

She knew now that she’d been tricked yet again.

“You’re mistaken this time,” Yaeger said calmly. “The extreme heat and cold you felt were illusions caused by the virus in your body. Think about it—didn’t you sometimes feel unusually hot or cold?”

Allie’s eyes widened, her pupils contracting in surprise. “How did you know that?” she asked.

“Because I’m a doctor,” Yaeger replied with a smile.

“Not a real one,” Allie muttered.

“Not my problem.” Yaeger rolled her eyes before her pupils glowed bright green, intensely scanning Allie’s body.

After all the commotion, Allie felt much calmer now, allowing Yaeger to proceed with the examination.

‘Hmph. This is what it means to have adult patience,' she thought, feeling a bit smug.

After a minute of careful scanning, Yaeger completed her analysis of Allie’s physical condition. “Eliminating the virus itself isn’t too difficult. The problem is the abnormal energies within it. That makes things much more complicated,” Yaeger explained.

Allie paused to consider this, then asked, “Is it from the residual energy of the spatial storm?”

“Technically, it’s no longer residual energy. It’s mutated after merging with the virus in your body,” Yaeger clarified.

“So my body’s just a petri dish for it to grow in? How delightful,” Allie replied with a bitter smile. No one truly understood the suffering she had endured over the years.

“Exactly.” Yaeger nodded. “Because of this complexity, I’ll need to divide the treatment into multiple sessions. And I can’t afford even the smallest error during each session.”

“No need to spell it out. I’ll cooperate fully,” Allie replied solemnly. “This is my body—we both know I want to recover more than anyone.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll help you recover as quickly as possible,” Yaeger assured her, bending down and placing a hand gently on Allie’s chest.

“How do you feel now?”

Allie, who had worn a solemn expression moments before, suddenly felt her mind go blank as her heart began to race. Her face flushed as her pupils began to tremble, and faint wisps of steam or frost seemed to escape from her head.

“How do you feel now?” Yaeger asked again, noticing her lack of response.

“I… I feel terrible!” Allie stammered, suddenly flustered.

“I see. I’ll need to adjust the temperature again.” Saying this, Yaeger withdrew her hand and used a translucent, aura-formed tendril to pull a nearby sword toward her, injecting more energy into it.

“Aaagh! It’s so hot!” Allie nearly jumped out of the bed in shock.

“Stay still. It’ll only last a second,” Yaeger said, quickly pressing her back down.

“Huh? It’s not hot anymore,” Allie murmured, surprised. As promised, the burning sensation had only lasted a split second.

“Heheh.” Yaeger couldn’t help but smile, finding Allie’s reactions different from usual. It filled her with a quiet sense of amusement.

“What are you laughing at?” Allie asked, her voice tinged with irritation.

“Oh, nothing. I just think you’re pretty cute,” Yaeger replied honestly.

“Huh… I’m not cute! I’m a beautiful and charming big sister!” Allie retorted, her cheeks tinged with pink.

“Alright, got it.” Yaeger smiled briefly, then turned serious. “This next part might be a bit painful. You’ll need to bear with it.”

Seeing Yaeger’s serious expression, Allie nodded, bracing herself and settling down.

“Let’s begin.” Yaeger raised her right hand, and her aura transformed into a bright green, filling the room with powerful life energy.

Moments later, dozens of bright green needles materialized in the air around her. Yaeger quickly took ten needles and inserted them into Allie’s body, then repeated the process, carefully placing each needle.

After several rounds, Allie’s body was covered with countless needles.

“All done.” Yaeger placed the final needle on Allie’s forehead, breathing a sigh of relief. “Now, I just need to extract the virus.”

With that, she placed her right hand on Allie’s chest. Allie was more composed this time; she didn’t overreact, and her heartbeat remained steady.

“Merge,” Yaeger murmured, pressing her palm down with slight pressure. The needles embedded in Allie’s body instantly dissolved, merging seamlessly into her.

‘Checkmate.'

At this final step, Yaeger allowed herself a small, weary smile.

“Uhm—!” Allie grunted involuntarily as a wave of powerful life energy surged through her body like a massive tsunami, causing intense discomfort.

The life energy coursing through her body felt like a massive dragon, consuming every virus it encountered. If all went smoothly, it would be able to devour every remaining trace of the virus in her body.

But, unfortunately… The life energy’s progress was quickly blocked. A strange energy materialized, forming into a giant pitch-black creature that halted its advance.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

The two forces clashed—a battle was inevitable. While the battle raged within, everything seemed calm on the outside.

Well, perhaps not entirely calm. Allie kept letting out involuntary sounds that echoed throughout the room.

Yaeger focused intently on controlling her life energy. Her goal wasn’t to destroy the strange energy— she only needed to block it.

Right now, due to the external stimuli, the viruses in Allie’s body—those responsible for her erratic sensations of hot and cold—had entered an inactive state. Yaeger had already pinpointed their location: they were concentrated in Allie’s chest.

“Come out now!” Yaeger’s eyes grew intense, and green light flared up from her hands.

“Ahh!” Allie gasped as sudden pain flared in her chest, feeling as if her flesh might tear at any second.

“Hang in there. It’ll be over soon,” Yaeger reassured her.

With that, Yaeger intensified the extraction, pulling the virus out at a faster pace. Yaeger couldn’t afford to slow down—this was the critical moment. Any misstep now would place both her and Allie in serious danger.

After all, the treatment method she’d chosen this time carried significant risk. Her plan was to transfer the virus from Allie’s body into her own, then purify it completely. Even the smallest error in this process could allow the abnormal energy to transfer into her body as well.

Yaeger could neutralize the virus on her own. But she wasn’t confident she could handle the mutated energy left over from the spatial storm.

‘I hope it doesn’t notice what I’m doing,’ she thought.

But as fate would have it, the very thing she feared became reality. The abnormal energy in Allie’s body seemed almost sentient—it detected the change instantly. It erupted with a surge of strength, shattering Yaeger’s life energy and rushing straight toward her.

‘Oh no!' Yaeger sensed the danger and tried to pull her hand back, but it was already too late. A portion of the abnormal energy, mixed with the virus, transferred into her body in an instant, beginning to wreak havoc from within!
