Reborn as a Transcendent

Outside the lab, the two beautiful receptionists were still pressed against the stone entrance, eavesdropping intently.
âThat shout was from Master Allie. She sounds pretty excited.â
âIs she at her limit?â
âIâm not sure, but she definitely sounds thrilled.â
The two glanced at each other, puzzled. So far, they hadnât heard any strange sounds from inside.
âAhh! So hot!â a panicked scream suddenly echoed from inside.
âItâs Black-hearted Princess!â The two instantly recognized her voice, their excitement rising.
âMaster Allieâs the one in control this time!â
âI never thought Black-hearted Princess would be on the receiving end!â
âHehe, I bet Black-hearted Princess is getting a taste of some hot wax!â
âMm-hmm!â
They pressed closer to the door, faces flushed, soft breaths escaping from slightly parted lips.
Meanwhile, inside the chamber, the scenes they imagined couldnât have been further from reality.
âAllie, slow down! Iâm about to be roasted alive!â Yaeger quickly released her aura, dousing the flames on her body.
âYou told me to use a Medium-grade fireball,â Allie replied with an innocent look.
âBut I didnât realize your Medium-grade fireball was so strong!â
Yaeger realized she had clearly underestimated Allieâs strength. Normally, a typical Magicianâs Medium-grade fireball barely scratched her. But Allie was far strongerâher fireball was not only painful but intensely hot.
âWould a Low-grade fireball be better?â Allie asked, extending her hand to conjure a small flame at her fingertip.
âGo ahead!â Yaeger spread her arms, striking a defenseless poseâbecause, in fact, she really was defenseless. This was the only way she could test the effectiveness of [Devouring Assimilation].
Bang!
Allieâs fireball shot out like a bullet, striking Yaeger directly.
âSo hot, so hot!â Yaeger cried. But before the fireball could release its full damage potential, she deflected it with her aura.
âWhat are you doing?â Allie asked, running a hand through her silver hair in exasperation.
âHold on a second!â Yaeger said quickly, noticing her skin was still searing from the fireballâs impact.
She quickly opened her interface to check her status. âHuh? I took two fireballs, so why hasnât my flame resistance increased at all?' The numbers on her panel hadnât budged, leaving Yaeger perplexed.
âAllie, one more time.â She decided to give it another try.
âLow-grade again?â
âNo, Medium-grade.â
âYouâre sure?â
âAbsolutely,â Yaeger nodded.
Without hesitation, Allie cast a Medium-grade fireball and launched it at Yaeger. Flames erupted, instantly engulfing Yaeger.
âEndure it, endure it!' Gritting her teeth, she resisted the urge to disperse the flames.
With her ability to halve all magical attacks and her 50% resistance across attributes, these flames stood little chance of actually burning her skin. So, she wasnât concerned about getting burned. And even if her skin were burned, her life energy would heal it instantly.
The flames from the fireball were intense but burned out quickly. In less than three seconds, the flames on Yaegerâs body had vanished completely.
Ding! [Devouring Assimilation] activated. Fire Attribute resistance increased by 0.1%.
The system notification chimed in almost immediately.
âZero-point-one percent? Youâve got to be kidding me,â Yaeger muttered in disbelief at the notification. She had taken Allieâs Medium-grade fireball head-on, yet her resistance increase was minuscule. It seemed unbelievable.
âWhat zero-point-one percent?â Allie asked curiously.
âItâs nothing. Letâs keep going.â Yaeger shook her head, striking a defenseless pose once more.
Allie didnât question further. She simply extended her hand and cast a High-grade fireball.
âWait, Allie! Thereâs something off about that fireball!â
Outside the door, another adorable scream echoed.
âMaster Allie is amazing when sheâs on the offense!â
âBlack-hearted Princess has such a cute scream; sheâs so charming!â
âAh, I really wish I could watch!â
âMe too!â
The two receptionists sighed wistfully, pressing closer against the stone entrance to keep eavesdropping.
Meanwhile, the trading hall of the Imperial Auction House was busier than a bustling morning marketplace. As soon as players learned about the discount event, word spread like wildfire. Crowds flocked to the auction house, packing the interior and forming a long queue outside.
The NPCs had never seen anything like itâpeople were lined up from the entrance all the way down the street!
âBuy, buy, buy! Get everything!â Taurus, who had VIP discounts and privileges, waved his hand, ordering his subordinates to purchase everything in sight.
âSo, this is how rich people shop? Disgusting!â
Those outside who overheard his voice gritted their teeth in frustration. Most of them were average players with limited funds, wishing they could stretch every last coin to buy more.
Discount events were rare at the auction house, so theyâd all come to stock up on resources. But before they could even step inside, Taurus, the Prodigal Master of Huadu, was buying everything in sight.
âLetâs just go. We wonât get to buy anything anyway,â someone muttered hopelessly.
With that wealthy VIP inside, buying anything seemed impossible.
âYeah, letâs just leave.â
âRight, thereâs no point in waiting!â
âLetâs go, everyone! Letâs just leave!â
Despite their words, only a few people actually left the line.
The reason was the pamphlet they held in their hands. It listed many materials, all available in large quantities. Even if they couldnât get exactly what they wanted, they could still buy popular items to resell or trade with friends.
They didnât believe even the biggest Guilds could buy out the entire stock.
Kastina watched the scene below from her officeâs privacy glass, a faint smile crossing her face.
âLooks like Iâll be able to clear out the stock by today.â
These materials had initially been stockpiled because they could be exchanged for Kingdom Prestige. Yaeger had planned to sell small batches daily to keep players spending.
However, with Richardâs early return, she had to abandon her original plan and sell everything in one go. The consequences of flooding the market with so many materials? Not her problem.
âNow, letâs figure out where to source new materials for tonightâs restock.â Kastina stepped away from the window, settling back into her office chair. She glanced at the documents on her desk, muttering to herself.
She still had one more day to rake in profits, and there was no way sheâd let that chance slip by.
Meanwhile, in the Sage Tower labâ¦
âStop!â Yaeger shouted.
Flames roared all around her, like an ocean of fire.
âNo more testing?â Allie asked, lowering her hand.
âYep!â Yaeger nodded, her face weary with exhaustion.
After being bombarded by fireballs for what felt like forever, her flame resistance had finally hit 1%. It felt like a scam!
âWhat a pity,â Allie said regretfully. Those rare moments when she could tease Yaeger guilt-free had ended too soonâshe would miss them.
After theyâd dressed and settled on the bed, Yaeger fell into deep thought. âStrange. Why did my Spatial Attribute resistance increase so quickly, but my Flame resistance is crawling? Whatâs the real issue here?'
