Reborn as a Transcendent

In Jade City, Imperial Auction House. Yaeger remained unaware of the large force mobilizing against her in real life. Even if she knew, she wouldnât have cared.
âYouâre back!â Kastina exclaimed joyfully as soon as Yaeger stepped into the third-floor office.
âYes. Howâs everything going at the auction house?â Yaeger asked, easing herself onto the sofa and leaning back comfortably.
Kastina plopped down beside her, her voice brimming with excitement. âWe sold out all the stockpiled materials just ten minutes ago. We made a fortune!â
Though Kastina enjoyed the thrill of battle, earning money brought her even more satisfaction. Of course, nothing compared to the joy of receiving Yaegerâs attention. Lately, though, she hadnât had the chance to enjoy Yaegerâs fists.
âOur relationship has gotten so good, itâs hard to ask her to hit me nowâ¦' Kastina sighed inwardly before her eyes lit up. âWait, there are materials in the Imperial treasury that she really wants. If I bring them to her, maybe I can make it happen!'
âThatâs great. Itâs faster than I thought,â Yaeger said with a nod.
âThat idiot spent hundreds of millions on his own. Heâs way too rich,â Kastina said, clearly referring to Taurus.
âHehe, tomorrow, Iâll sell him some equipment and items and drain his wallet dry,â Yaeger said with a sly smile.
âWeâre not selling materials anymore?â Kastina asked, puzzled.
âNo. Weâve already bought out anything valuable. At this point, most of the materials left in the city arenât what the outsiders want. Buying them would just be a waste of money.â
âI see. Iâll update the trading manifest for tonight, then.â
âYou can handle it later. No rush,â Yaeger said.
âOh, by the wayâ¦â Kastina suddenly remembered something and glanced at Yaeger. âLowly slave, whatâs your real name? Donât tell me itâs actually [Princess]â¦â
âItâs not!â Yaeger replied immediately.
âThen what is it?â Kastina pressed, her curiosity evident.
When they first met, their relationship had been like fire and ice, so calling her âlowly slaveâ felt natural. Now, though, with their relationship much improved, it felt inappropriate to keep using that nickname.
Kastina even felt slightly awkward saying it now. Yet, switching to calling her [Princess] felt oddly difficult.
âYae-hime.â Yaeger finally said, her voice calm as she used her aura to write the name in the air.
âYae-himeâ¦â Kastina repeated softly, her gaze fixed on the shimmering letters as her heart unexpectedly skipped a beat. âIâll call you Lilâ Hime from now on!â Kastina declared enthusiastically.
âCall me Yae-hime!â Yaeger said firmly. While the nickname wasnât bad, it felt entirely inappropriate coming from Kastina.
âYou donât like Lilâ Hime?â Kastina asked, tilting her head in confusion.
âItâs not about liking or disliking it. Just call me Yae-himeâ¦â Yaeger replied, exasperated.
At this moment in the conversation, Yaeger paused briefly before softening her tone. âI prefer it when you call me Yae-hime.â
âYou⦠prefer me more!' Kastinaâs thoughts spiraled as her world seemed to spin. Her mind went blank, and her heart swelled with an indescribable joy.
âYae-hime! Yae-hime! Yae-hime!â Kastina couldnât contain her excitement as she grabbed Yaegerâs hand and repeated the name fervently.
Yaeger looked at her in confusion. âAll I did was ask her to call me Yae-hime. Why is she so excited?â She patiently waited for Kastina to settle down.
Once Kastina was calm, Yaeger brought up something that had been on her mind. âKastina, have you been able to contact Lili lately?â
âI havenât seen her in a while,â Kastina replied.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
âWhy not? Arenât you two fairly close?â Yaeger asked, curious.
âWell, Liliâs residence was destroyed some time ago, remember? Itâs being renovated right now, but I have no idea where sheâs staying temporarily. Thatâs why I havenât been able to meet her,â Kastina said with a shrug.
âI see,â Yaeger said, a hint of disappointment in her tone.
âAre you in a hurry to meet her?â Kastina asked, noticing Yaegerâs reaction.
âNot exactly,â Yaeger replied. âI just have some questions I need to ask her.â
âWhen I head back later, Iâll ask around about Lili for you.â
âThanks,â Yaeger said sincerely.
In response, Kastina gently nudged Yaegerâs shoulder. âLilâ Hime, you donât have to be so formal with me. Donât say things like that again.â
âDidnât I tell you to stop calling me Lilâ Hime?â Yaeger thought, rolling her eyes in silent exasperation.
After a bit of idle chatter, Kastina excused herself to take care of her own matters. Unlike Yaeger, Kastina had numerous business affairs to manage and kept herself extremely busy. Still, she seemed to genuinely enjoy every moment of it.
âItâs almost over,â Yaeger murmured to herself, leaning back against the sofa. All she had to do now was wait. Wait for Kastina to gather the materials needed to repair the [City of Chaos]. Wait until tomorrow to begin Allieâs treatment.
There wasnât much else for her to concern herself with.
âI donât have much else to do right now. Letâs check the forums.â The forums were the most convenient way to stay updated on the latest player trends. Every day, the forums were brimming with fresh information.
âShocking this, shocking that. Will you all collapse if you stop using that title for just one day?â Yaegerâs eyelids twitched uncontrollably as her gaze swept over the barrage of clickbait titles on the screen.
With a sigh, she tapped her slender finger on the first trending post.
«Shocking! The 400-Million-Dollar Man, Prodigal Master of Huadu!»
âWell, this one isnât clickbait for once,â Yaeger muttered.
The post detailed Taurusâ extravagant behavior, painting a picture of how recklessly he threw his money around.
âTaurus must have spent at least seven hundred million recently, right? The Zhang family is absurdly wealthy⦠No, they must have learned something about the game through insider connections. Thatâs the only reason theyâd pour so much money into it.â
The wealthier someone was, the more cautious they tended to be with their spending. Yaeger was certain that the Zhang family had uncovered something important. Otherwise, they wouldnât risk investing such an astronomical sum.
âStill, itâs all pointless. No matter how much they throw into this game, itâll all end up in my hands soon enough,â Yaeger said with a sly smile.
Smirking, Yaeger closed the post and moved on to the second trending topic.
«Shocking! The Wastelandâs Giant Beast Is Terrifying Beyond Belief!»
This post wasnât clickbait either. As soon as she opened it, a high-definition image filled her screen: a massive, red-haired Magic Beast with a snarling expression. It resembled a ferocious ape.
âThe Giant Scorching Ape!â Yaeger exclaimed the moment the image came into view. She recognized the Magic Beast instantly. To be precise, she had read about it in a strategy guide.
âThis is the area boss of the Wasteland map: the [Giant Scorching Ape]. I remember someone defeated it once and earned a lucky lottery ticket along with an Epic Random Equipment Crate. That reward caused a massive bloodbath.' Recalling this, Yaeger quickly checked the postâs timestamp. It had been published just an hour ago.
âGood thing I havenât missed this free loot box.â
As the area boss of the Wasteland map, the [Giant Scorching Ape] was slightly weaker than the [Wind Wolf King] from the Novice Village. However, its defenses were incredibly strong, and it possessed multiple large AoE special abilities, making it a formidable opponent.
âThe players in Jade City arenât strong enough right now. Even if a few Guilds banded together, it would still take them over an hour to take it down,â Yaeger mused, a knowing smile playing on her lips.
