Chapter 267
You Hit My Heart
After he had met Vicki, he went to check Vicki's background and as it
turned out, she had been frequenting all kinds of detention centers and
jails in the past years. It really pissed him off that a woman like that
would even look down upon him.
"Don't argue. There's no point in arguing, and it won't help. I'll go to the
police department first." Luther took a copy of the surveillance footage
handed to him by the head of the security team, turned around and left
with a cold face.
Soon after, Luther drove to the second precinct.
Inside the office lobby, Karl was directing several police officers to get
the surveillance of the road and have them carefully check each of
them.
Luther came to Karl's side.
When he saw Karl's gloomy look, he had a rough idea in his mind and
almost felt hopeless.
It seemed that the police department had not made much progress so
far either.
Karl saw Luther approaching, he looked up from the computer screen,
shook his head gently and sighed, âThey destroyed all the surveillance
of the road at that time, thus the information we can find is very limited.
Nothing has been found so far."
Luther blackened his face and handed the USB drive in his hand to
Karl, "This is the surveillance footage in front of DeNox, which was also
damaged. I want to give it to you to see if it can be repaired.â
Karl took the USB stick, "The technical department is also trying to fix
our footage, but it will take a long time. Right now, we can't wait. They
are obviously prepared and know what they are doing. At this point, the
only thing we know right now is that the surveillance was compromised
by an offshore hack."
"And it involves forces outside the country?" Luther was shocked. He
thought of the night when he was chased and drugged, and he hadn't
found out who was behind it. He highly suspected that it was also an
offshore force, otherwise he would have found some traces in the
country.
âThat's right. I only have permission to contact Internation Police if she
has been missing for more than 24 hours. So now we are left to our
own, and we must hurry up.â Karl said in a cold voice.
At this point, a police officer trotted over and reported, "Captain. We
found a surveillance camera across the road and it was working just
fine. Please come over and see if there could be any further findings."
At the word, Karl and Luther rushed to the police officer's computer.
The officer switched the video connection to the large central display
screen, and zoomed in.
"This is where I parked. I was waiting for Joyce to cross the street.â
Luther pointed to where he parked, and then pointed across the street
to where the surveillance was, and analyzed, "Yes, you can't see Joyce
from this angle in the surveillance video, but I was in the car and I could
see her from this angle.â
At this point, several large trucks appeared in the video, one after the
other.
"Stop!"
"Stop!"
Luther and Karl both called out at the same time.
The two looked at each other.
Luther extended his hand, "You first."
Karl pointed to the big trucks, "Something is wrong. At this point in time,
trucks this size were not yet allowed to enter this main road, not until
ten. So, these vehicles are suspicious."
"That's right! It was after these big trucks drove by that Joyce was
gone." Luther said with certainty.
At the time he just felt strange, but now the more he thought about it,
the more suspicious it became!
