Chapter 513
You Hit My Heart
âYes, we just simply could not solve every case. I've seen too many
unsolvable cases. I really don't want Stephanie and Rodney's case to
just sink forever." Karl sighed, "Besides, the Heath family and I are still
related, I just have to try to find out the truth. I've kept all the photos
from the scene and will go back and study them. Hopefully, we can
make a breakthrough.â
âYeah, I forgot about that until you mentioned it. You're actually
Charlotte's cousin.â Joyce teased, "In that case, I don't even dare to
count on you to check your own cousin.â
Karl suddenly stopped in his tracks and said seriously, "How's that even
related? I could never let her go just because I'm related to her..."
"Come on. I'm just kidding. Look at you, you can't take a joke!" Joyce
smiled, "You got to see the fun and pick up a relative for nothing today,
so it was a good trip."
The atmosphere between the two gradually melted up, talking and
laughing, and from the perspective of the shadow from afar, they
looked like a sweet couple.
"By the way, I forgot to tell you. I think of something strange. I heard
Cecelia talk about how Charlotte got accidentally hit by a car in the
evening and was sent to the military hospital. The Heath family had a
series of accidents, very strange. And, as you know, I also saw
Charlotte and Ricky together in Skymall this afternoon ..."
Joyce was talking when suddenly Karl winked at her, signaling her not
to continue.
Joyce stopped talking as Karl's gaze fell behind her, and she turned her
head in confusion to follow his line of sight and look behind herself.
She saw a tall handsome figure come out of the shadows - his eyes
were like a cold pool, and his face was emotionless like a river, emitting
a powerful coldness as if the surrounding area had all been frozen.
Joyce could not help but roll her eyes. Luther actually came to Eden
Apartment again, so there was simply no end to it.
"Oh, Joyce, you are really beyond my imagination, attracting butterflies
everywhere. I didn't think you'd have an affair with another man besides
Justin. Who is this again?"
Luther glared at Karl coldly and hostilely.
Joyce was speechless. He really did not remember Karl. Although it
was expected, it was funny for him to ask Karl such a question. She
didn't feel she had to tell him that she and Karl were just friends.
Because she didn't want to waste her breath with him.
Luther did not ignore the disdain that crossed Joyce's eyes. He felt
somehow angry. He just saw Joyce and another man, talking, laughing,
and flirting. His chest felt stuffy. Damn women, she was still his wife,
and she met other men so frequently. What an embarrassement!
He reached out, trying to drag Joyce over to him. Seeing her standing
next to other men was an eyesore.
Unexpectedly, Karl moved one step faster and pulled Joyce behind him
to protect her.
"My name is Karl, the chief of the second precinct of the Khebury police
department. Mr. Warner, nice to meet you." Karl sank his face. He was
mostly expressionless, and now, he was obviously, angry.
"Karl..."
Luther chewed the words slowly, "We knew each other before?"
"Since you donât remember, Mr. Warner can pretend we donât know
each other." Karl returned nonchalantly.
Luther narrowed his eyes, and his expression carried a few hints of
danger. He recalled that he should have known Karl. He had heard
Aaron report about him before, about his grandmother's case, about
Joyce's kidnapping case, and they were all thanks to Karl.
