Chapter 14

My Friend Liv

Ryley sat around thinking about how to reach out to Liv. She wanted to talk to her, but Liv wasn't answering any of her calls. She decided to text her instead

Ryley: I am so sorry for what happened. I've been trying to call you. I just want to talk. I care about you so much. Please let me make it up to you. Can you come over tonight at 8pm so we can talk?

Ryley sent the message and threw her phone on the bed. She laid back and stared at the ceiling for a while. A few minutes passed and she still had no reply. Ryley picked up her phone and went to the message again. She saw that Liv had read the message. This made her smile. It gave her hope.

She sat up and started thinking. What should I wear? What should I say? I need to clean up. I should make food. Is that too much? What can I do to show her that I'm serious? Wait, what if she still doesn't show up and I do all of this for nothing?

Fuck it. She's worth it Ryley thought to herself

Ryley jumped up and found some clothes to put on. She decided to head to the mall. She really didn't know what she was looking for. Maybe a new outfit, some new shoes, or something for Liv. She went to a few stores. She was looking for something that wasn't too flashy, but that wasn't too casual either. She remembered Liv saying she would love to see her in a dress, so she started looking for the perfect one. It was hard for her to decide considering she barely wore dresses. She ended up finding a nice pink one. It was tight in the waist and flowy at the bottom. It was perfect. Not too formal, but not too casual either. She already had some sandals at home that would match it perfectly.

Ryley paid for the dress then left the store. On her way out, she passed a jewelry store. They were having a sale. She decided to go in. She was looking for something that wasn't too expensive. She looked around for a while before she saw a necklace that would be perfect. She found a heart-shaped necklace lined with diamonds. She ended up buying it hoping that Liv would like it.

Ryley was nervous on the drive home. She started thinking the worst. She didn't even know if Liv would show up. She could be doing all of this for nothing.

Ryley tried not to think about that as she walked into her apartment with her bags. She put them down on the couch and started thinking. She should probably make a meal, but she didn't want to do too much. Maybe I should take her out somewhere instead she thought. No, staying here would be better. She decided to make a salad and parmesan-crusted tilapia.

Great! Ryley thought to herself. Not too fancy. She didn't want to overdo it. She didn't want Liv to think she was trying too hard. Dinner was finished and Ryley had an hour left to get ready. She decided to take a shower. Afterward, she decided to put on a little makeup- nothing over the top. She wanted to look nice and natural. She also decided to put on scented lotion. She took her time and put her hair up in a neat bun. Once she was done, she looked at her phone. It was almost 8. Ryley decided to watch tv and wait for Liv. She still had no idea if she would show up.

******* 30 minutes later******

Ryley had completed one full episode on Netflix and Liv still wasn't there. She felt horrible. She wanted to cry. She had no idea what to do. Should she text her? Or call her? Should she go to her parent's house to make sure she was ok?

"Dammit!" Ryley said out loud. She felt dumb for doing all of this. She never did this for any girl. It was time to let Liv go. Ryley went into the kitchen and started cleaning up. She got enough food out for herself and put the rest of it up. Once the kitchen was all cleaned up she took off her dress and took her makeup off. She let her hair down and put on some comfortable clothes- some shorts and a t-shirt. She decided to eat and watch tv in the living room. This was a terrible idea Ryley thought to herself. I should have known she wouldn't come. She probably never wants to see me again.

Liv tried to find something funny on Netflix to take her mind off of Liv. She ended up putting on a stand-up comedy special, but it must not have been that interesting because she ended up falling asleep on the couch. A faint noise woke her up. She quickly checked her phone. It was 11pm. She thought she was dreaming at first, but once she became more conscience she realized that the sound was real. She finally realized that someone was knocking at the door. Whoever it was sounded like they didn't really want the person to hear it.
